Immigration officers raided a luxury residence in Jalan P. Ramlee, Kuala Lumpur, uncovering an online gambling syndicate run by 11 Chinese nationals.

00:00The Immigration Department has busted an online gambling syndicate operating from a luxury
00:07residence in Jalan P. Ramli, Kuala Lumpur with the arrest of 11 Chinese nationals during
00:13a special operation last Thursday.
00:16Immigration Director General Datuk Zakaria Shaban said personnel from the department's
00:20intelligence and special operations division arrested 10 men and a woman, aged between
00:2620 and 40, during the 3.50 p.m. raid.
00:30He said the syndicate had turned high-end residential units into online gambling operations centers
00:36managed by Chinese nationals and targeting overseas markets.
00:40The group allegedly used Telegram and WhatsApp for promotions and communications.
00:46Investigations revealed that two suspects had misused their social visit passes, five had
00:51overstayed, while four, three men and one woman, had no valid travel documents.
00:58Officers seized seven Chinese passports, 11 laptops, seven mobile phones, three computer
01:03sets and 3,900 ringgit in cash.
01:07All suspects are being detained for offenses under the Immigration Regulations 1963 and the
01:13Immigration Act 1959-63.
01:17Zakaria said the detainees were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Office for further investigation.
