00:00Ladies and gentlemen, may I have your attention please?
00:12You are about to experience now, in this theater, the future of sound based on a revolutionary
00:17new system called Oro 3D.
00:20This is a three-dimensional audio technology that is changing the landscape of the cinematic
00:25experience.
00:26Oro 3D features sound reproduction that is more realistic than anything you've heard
00:31before.
00:32It draws you into the action on screen, fully immersing you in a spectrum of lifelike sound.
00:38Natural acoustic reflections affect you as they do in real life, originating not only
00:43from around you, but also above you.
00:47Spatial sound can be divided into three different layers, sounds coming from the horizontal plane
00:52around us.
00:53Above this is a second layer that reveals both direct sounds and height reflections.
00:59These reflections are important for our brains to better understand the sounds originating
01:03in the first layer.
01:05And the third layer, revealing sounds that come from directly above us.
01:09This reproduction channel is also known as the Voice of God channel.
01:14Oro 3D achieved a reproduction system that uses these three layers to recreate the most efficient
01:19three-dimensional sound format with a minimum number of speakers.
01:24Welcome to Oro 3D.
01:38Consider the beginnings of cinematic sound.
01:40Early films were presented in mono.
01:43At first, cinema audio was restricted to voices and simple sound effects coming from the center
01:48of the screen, much like the voice track you're hearing now.
01:52The introduction of stereo sound made it possible to produce sounds traveling between the left
01:57and the right sides of the screen, from the left, to the center, to the right, and vice versa.
02:02People believe that stereo is two-dimensional sound, but in actuality, it's one-dimensional
02:07sound.
02:08This is because all the audio originates from a single line or horizontal axis located in
02:12front of the audience.
02:15Surround sound adds a second dimension by placing speakers on the Y-axis around the length of the
02:19auditorium.
02:20It's an arrangement that creates a single auditory plane around the listener.
02:24Both 5.1 and 7.1 surround sound are actually two-dimensional sound formats, and not three-dimensional
02:30as commonly believed.
02:31Of course, this 2D sound gives the audience a feeling that they're closer to the action.
02:36The problem is that 2D sound doesn't quite feel natural.
02:41To fully realize sound in 3D, we include the missing dimension, height.
02:46Metal 3D incorporates height channels, as well as a top channel, above the audience to truly
02:50deliver an authentic three-dimensional sound experience.
02:54It's based on a groundbreaking new technology that delivers with the magic of uncompressed
02:58audio quality on all three layers and with 12 independent channels.
03:04Now you can clearly hear sounds coming from both around and above the audience.
03:18Wow!
03:19Did you hear that?
03:20The reflections created by the exclusive height channels makes things sound pretty real,
03:24don't they?
03:26This is where much of Aural 3D's magic lies.
03:29Ceiling speakers alone are not enough to get a true three-dimensional audio effect.
03:34The surround channel, with height speakers and ceiling speakers, allow for the creation
03:38of a more natural reproduction of sound in space.
03:42This results in a totally new cinema experience that is easily built on a theatre's existing
03:465.1 surround system.
03:49With the simple addition of speakers on the height channels, these three-dimensional sounds
03:53are much more easily achieved.
03:56Here are some examples of Aural 3D in action.
04:00By making use of the height channels, Aural 3D delivers surprisingly real audio effects.
04:04But Aural 3D also features an important third layer above the audience.
04:09Sometimes we call that the Voice of God channel, which allows the reproduction of sounds coming
04:14from directly above the listener.
04:15Here are two examples of recordings made at an airport.
04:20Experience how capable the Aural 3D system is at reproducing the exact position of an airplane
04:24as it passes by, from taking off to flying directly overhead and finally disappearing above
04:30them behind you.
04:48In this next demo, helicopters will slowly creep up from the back of the theatre.
04:52Close your eyes and feel them fly overhead.
04:54Without back height surround speakers, it's impossible to reproduce natural flyover effects.
05:00Aural 3D makes cinema feel like you're really there, participating in the action, from subtle natural environments, to music and the rumblings of our mechanized
05:30world.
05:31The emotional impact provided by height information can now unfold around you.
05:35Previously unattainable levels of cinematic immersion are now possible.
05:39The natural effect of 3D sound has the power to captivate audiences like never before.
05:46Together with Barco, Aural Technologies brings you the cinema sound of the future.
05:50And.
