00:50Talks about the historic occasion.
00:53First player from Monaco to reach a quarter-final, semi-final, now final.
00:57Looking at the rankings, I believe you're the only player in the top 1,000 from Monaco.
01:02Talk about this historic achievement.
01:05Yeah, in singles, I'm the only one in the top 1,000,
01:09but then we have two guys in the top 40 in doubles,
01:12so we're afraid to be a bad team in Davis Cup.
01:17But yeah, of course, it's historical.
01:21I've probably broke the record on every single round now.
01:25And yeah, it just means a lot for me and for the country.
01:30I mean, this is probably the smallest country in the world.
01:33It's so small and we have just not so many athletes.
01:37But to see all the joy that I'm bringing back home,
01:40that's probably what feels the most special in my heart right now.
01:47Congratulations.
01:48Probably just an extension of that.
01:50Great to have Melanie and David come across and fly over and be in the box.
01:54Just talk about the Federation.
01:56I learned a bit about it when I went to Monte Carlo earlier this year,
01:59but the support that it's given you across the journey.
02:03Yeah, I mean, they came.
02:05But also the first thing when I won the quarterfinal
02:09is I texted my fitness coach and I said,
02:11do you want to come with a laughing face?
02:14And I think five minutes later, the flight was booked
02:17and he arrived last night and he was here in the box.
02:21And also Melanie and David came.
02:24And I think it helped me a lot to have a few more people
02:28in the box, to be honest.
02:30And we're just such a small Federation.
02:33We're only four players.
02:35Four players at that level is crazy for Monaco.
02:39We're a little family.
02:41We have a bunch of young kids that train every day.
02:44And just the videos of seeing them jumping around when I win.
02:49As I was saying before, it's what's in my heart.
02:54It's the most important.
02:55It's the joy that I bring back home, yeah.
02:58Yesterday you said it was going to be unreal to play Djokovic.
03:02So how does it feel to have beaten him?
03:04What does it represent to you?
03:06Yeah.
03:07I mean, yeah, as I said, first of all, to beat him,
03:10as I said, I missed a bit Federer and Nadal in my career
03:13because, I mean, I was such a lower ranking
03:16and they stopped their career before I was a little bit getting
03:19getting into the mix of the same tournaments as them.
03:21To get to play Djokovic already once is unbelievable.
03:26To be on the other side of the court, I'm actually really surprised
03:29of how I managed mentally straight away in the match
03:33because he broke me straight away, playing just how I thought
03:38he was going to play.
03:39And I was really happy that I broke back as quick as possible.
03:44And I really think that's when the match started, really.
03:46And then it started just being a battle.
03:48We know he's 38 years old, that it's so hard.
03:51I mean, it's already unreal what he's doing at 38 years old.
03:54And that it's hard on his body.
03:57But, yeah, I mean, I had to stay.
03:59Of course, I had so many thoughts in my head,
04:02even when I just won the first set and everything.
04:04But every time I had a little thoughts, I was just putting it down
04:07to just thinking about the next return I was going to hit
04:10or the next serve I was going to hit.
04:12So, yeah, as I said, I'm really, really proud
04:14of how I managed this match mentally
04:16and to not focus too much about the fact that it was Novak
04:20on the other side of the net.
04:21So, yeah, I'm really happy.
04:26Congrats.
04:27And coming back on this great management you had,
04:29especially in the second set,
04:30because if you can elaborate what's going through the mind of a player,
04:34for example, when Novak in the fourth game, it's love 30.
04:37So I think it's very tough that, you know, he's struggling,
04:40you're struggling, but you have to fight.
04:42So this, and I know that your favorite player of all times is Roger Federer.
04:47So I'm just wondering if you managed to meet him here.
04:50No, I haven't got to, I didn't cross him yet.
04:53I didn't cross him yet.
04:54My girlfriend has seen him 10 times, I think, and me zero times.
04:58So I don't get it.
04:59Every time I'm not in the place where I am.
05:01But no, yeah, there was a few, a few, a few tight moments.
05:07He started really well.
05:09As I said, he broke me straight away.
05:10I got to break back playing two good games though.
05:13So I was really, I was really surprised, as I said,
05:15how I managed to just start the match even mentally.
05:17So yeah, really happy on that side.
05:19And yeah, he helped me, he helped me a little bit with the break in the first set.
05:24He didn't play, he didn't play a great game.
05:26We played three really physical games before,
05:29and I think that got a little bit on him.
05:31And yeah, I got to close the first set a bit, way easier than how I closed the match in the second set.
05:39And yeah, the beginning of the second set was really weird.
05:44We had long points on his serve to start.
05:47The tension really, really rised up.
05:50I was actually feeling really free from the middle of the first set and the first set.
05:54And yeah, more tension in the second set, of course.
05:57I feel like he started to just, he managed to move me more in the second set.
06:04He had to, I feel like he had to, to get some mistakes off me.
06:09And I got a little bit defensive in the beginning of the second set.
06:14So what's good is that I got to change that towards the end of the set.
06:19I already played a good game at 3-2 or 4-3 on his serve to get a bit closer to the break.
06:25And he helped me a little bit with a couple of double-foughts at 4-2.
06:29I think I broke him both times on new balls, on like the first game of new balls on him.
06:34Why? I don't know.
06:35But yeah, and the last game, I'm not gonna lie.
06:39My hands were shaking, my hands were shaking a little bit.
06:42He made all the returns he needed to make when he was on the ball.
06:46And I even saved the, if I'm not right, the break point, I think at 5-4 if I'm right.
06:52And yeah, just so proud of myself for that.
06:56Last two questions here.
06:57No, I'm not going.
06:58No, I'm not going.
06:59No, I'm not going.
07:00No, I'm not going.
07:01No, I'm not going.
07:02Now going not only in the top 100, but now well into the top 100 at, into the top 60.
07:07I have no idea.
07:08At 58.
07:09Just talk about this amazing jump that you've done now.
07:13Yeah, I mean, yeah, I mean, to be honest, this is, yeah, this is, of course, a huge achievement.
07:20Because as I say, what I went through last year, being so close from top 100, having to stop for a while.
07:25But yeah, even before this tournament, even though there was not that many tournaments left for me,
07:32I was supposed to play Shanghai and four or five more challengers in Asia.
07:37I still thought that the top 100 was possible for me before the end of the season, because we know how it works.
07:42I told one of my friends when I was hurt in July that I couldn't play for five weeks.
07:48I'm saying Shanghai as Shanghai is the only tournament I'm saying because I know it was the biggest tournament towards the end of the season that I could have a chance to get to with those big draws now in the qualification.
08:01It got close. I got in 24 hours before the start of the qualification.
08:07But yeah, maybe I visualized that I could do good here.
08:14Of course, I didn't think that I could do that good. I wasn't thinking of doing that good.
08:19Already winning a couple of matches was already good. And as I said, so I was still thinking of top 100 before the end of the season.
08:25I thought it could be possible, as we know, winning one challenger.
08:29Sometimes it happens a lot. Player playing confidence starts to win two or three in a row.
08:34But I would have been happy finishing just 99 or 100 and thinking that I'm going to be at least 58.
08:42I need to realize a little bit. But it's good now. I'm just going to get to play all the biggest tournaments in the world.
08:48So I'm really happy, really happy for that.
08:51You won't have to worry about qualifying.
08:53Maybe still a few tournaments at 58 don't get you straight away, but I think 90% of the tournaments is fine.
09:01Last one.
09:02And there's still a chance you could face your cousin in the finals.
09:06How do you feel about that?
09:07I have no idea what's the score right now. Sorry?
09:10For Daniel?
09:11Yeah, there's still a chance. As I said, I'm still going to have to do all the medias.
09:17But as soon as I can, I think I want to go watch a little bit, of course, and see the end.
09:24Because if he wins, there's no chance I'm not going to be in the box for that moment.
09:28And yeah, I think, as he said already, our family group is just a bit out of control these days.
09:35Just a minute.
09:37Okay, you can do this.
09:39Yes.
09:40I'm going to wake up or I'll stay there?
09:42Yes.
09:43Je me lève ou je reste là ?
09:45Oui, je vais ici.
