OCD: Medical facilities in Davao Oriental overwhelmed as provincial hospital rendered non-operational after twin quakes

WATCH: Health and emergency response systems in Davao Oriental have been heavily impacted following the doublet earthquakes that struck the province, the Office of Civil Defense (OCD) reported on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 11.

00:00So, ngayong araw po, kaninang umaga, nag-meet na po ang NDRRMC through its Interagency Coordination Cell.

00:09Nandun po ang ating chairman, si Secretary Gilbert Chudoro Jr., na namumuno nitong AICC natin.

00:17At dun nga, napag-alaman natin na apat na areas ang sinisentro ng ating mga response.

00:25So, unang-una, we have identified yung Manay, Dabao Oriental, as the most hardly hit based assessment natin, which is ongoing by the way.

00:36Dahil itong Manay po, Dabao Oriental, nagkaroon ng highest number of affected population.

00:42And dun din po, nagkaroon ng totally damaged yung kanyang provincial hospital, yung Dabao Oriental Provincial Hospital ng Manay.

00:52So, sirang-sira po ito.

00:53And then, sa MATI po, in Dabao Oriental, medyo na-overwhelm po ang mga hospitals doon.

01:00At yung mga marami tayong pasyente na ina-accommodate outside hospital facilities.

01:08And then, tinitingnan din natin yung pantukan Dabao de Oro dahil marami pong landslide incidents na na-report doon.

01:16So, base po sa meeting kanina, may mga key issues po na dapat tugunan.

01:22Unang-una, yung health system and medical response natin.

01:26So, napag-alaman natin, non-operational po yung Dabao Oriental Provincial Hospital in Manay.

01:32And overwhelmed po ang hospitals in MATI and nearby areas.

01:36So, kailangan po mag-establish tayo ng alternative health facilities po or mga temporary medical tents or medical facilities.

01:47So, ito po ay ina-address ng DOH.

01:50And then, we need to expedite yung assessment and repair of damaged hospitals.

01:55So, kailangan na kailangan po ito gawin.

01:58And then, we also need to expedite assessment and do immediate repairs ng key hospitals in Manay and MATI.

02:08So, pagdating naman sa shelter relief and displacement concerns,

02:13kailangan po i-fast track natin ang pagbibigay ng mga provision and replenishment ng mga relief supplies

02:20tulad ng food and non-food items, mga tents, mga shelter repair kits.

02:25And then, of course, we have already mobilized the national stockpiles or logistic support.

02:32Dito sa Metro Manila, handang-handa po tayo magbigay ayuda or tulong doon sa region na nangangailangan nito.

02:40So, ang ating DSWD ay nakastandby po para magbigay tulong or mag replenish ng mga food and non-food items.
