Some Israelis wish Trump had won Nobel Peace Prize
A wave of affection and gratitude sweeps across Israel after a Trump-brokered deal paved the way for the expected return of dozens of hostages on Oct. 10, 2025. The joy was laced with mild disappointment that Donald Trump was not awarded the Nobel Peace Prize despite the US president having aggressively lobbied for the award and touted his role in brokering international ceasefire deals. Nominations for the Nobel must have been made before Jan. 31 to be valid for this year's prize. Trump returned to the White House for his second term in office on Jan. 20. In northern Israel, a farmer nominated Trump for the prize ploughing the words 'Nobel 4 Trump,' a giant US flag illuminated Jerusalem's old city walls on Oct. 9.

00:00It's a little bit sad for us, the Israelis, because we are waiting for our sisters and brothers to come back and I think it's maybe it's a little bit soon for Trump to get the Nobel Prize. The process is still here. It didn't end. I'm a little bit sad for Trump, but he can win it in three years from now.
00:30He's our friend. He's the president. The president Trump is. He saved us from all this situation. He he do what we just dream. Thank thank him. We want to thank him very, very much as a niece of one of the hostages.
00:57I have a lot of a lot of love for President Trump because he is the one that really sealed that deal, really cares about the hostages, really cares about what the people in Israel thinking and wanted.
01:15So we have a lot of thanks for him. We we thank for President Trump.
01:24I have a lot of appreciation to President Trump, who made all his all his efforts to bring the hostages back and to end this terrible war in Gaza.
01:37And I really think that he cares about about the Israeli people and about the Palestinians.
01:43And he wants he wants a final good solution for this area.
01:48Well, I'm quite surprised, actually. I thought he will get it. I think it's it's the most difficult conflict in the world and being able to at least initiate a ceasefire and maybe something that will lead to peace.
02:03I think it's no one ever did it. And I think he could have he could have received it. It's it's too bad. He hasn't next year.
02:12Maybe we'll get him because he really, really cares about life, about people, about what people need, what the Israel people need, really cares about peace, peace in the Middle East.
02:25And we're very grateful to President Trump for making it happen, because everyone on the street who we've spoken to has made it exceptionally clear that if not for President Trump, this would not have happened.
02:48And we're very grateful to President Trump for making it happen.
