00:00and perhaps the strangest example of extreme specialization turned up here at
00:08the Horniman Museum in South London one morning someone brought them something
00:14they'd found in their fish supper they basically bought us someone's evening
00:21meal on the plate so it was a cooked fish and that the person had started to
00:26eat halfway through their meal they discovered this inside the fish's mouth it was enough to put
00:35anyone off their food so this is Simon their exit you are the fish tongue louse and it has a really
00:42unusual parasitic lifestyle it enters the gills of the fish and then attaches to the tongue-like
00:49structure of the fish and kind of clings on and pierces the tongue structure with its big claws
00:55and then basically feeds off the blood of the tongue which eventually just becomes
01:00quite shriveled and ends up being at just a little stump that the fish tongue louse then
01:05moves further into the mouth and basically starts to live as as if it was the tongue of the fish
01:25the wrong
01:34so
01:35you
