00:00In this video, I'll spend all day eating in the world's only seven-star hotel here in Dubai,
00:06a hotel known as the Burj Al Arab.
00:08I don't know if you know this, but usually very nice hotels, they have five stars.
00:12This one, they claim to have seven.
00:14So today I'm on a mission to learn what a seven-star experience really looks like,
00:18but even more importantly, how much it costs, because this place is expensive.
00:22I'll show you what a seven-star breakfast buffet looks like.
00:25I'll show you my outrageously expensive room that costs $3,000 per night.
00:30And finally, I'll reveal the dark side of dining in a hotel that's anything but humble.
00:36But first, breakfast.
00:38All right, right now we are walking to the hotel, which is situated on its own island.
00:43Right here, this is the mainland, and then ocean, and then the island.
00:46This island, it's been built by having tons and tons of sand shipped and brought in
00:51so they could build the hotel on top of it.
00:53It's a modern marvel.
00:54Hey, look, a bunch of people on a tour.
00:56Hi, guys.
00:58As you approach outside, you can see people with their very, very fancy cars.
01:02Actually, I think it might be illegal to drive with that on the windshield.
01:04I don't think you can do that.
01:05Oh, now it makes sense.
01:06I didn't know they're...
01:07Oh, okay.
01:08It's that kind of a person.
01:09Right now, we're going inside the hotel to get our first look at the lobby.
01:12Let's move.
01:14Can I tell you something?
01:15At this hotel, there are no rooms.
01:17It's only suites.
01:19Usually a suite is very expensive.
01:20That's right.
01:20And so the whole point of this hotel, it's all about the lavish, opulent, very luxurious experience.
01:25Oh, there's an aquarium right there.
01:26Come over here.
01:27Now, if we were in Vietnam, you could choose what fish you want to eat here.
01:30I think it's just for the visual.
01:32Anyways, on to the buffet.
01:33Right here, we've come to the back of the building in search of the breakfast buffet.
01:36The back of the hotel has a completely different vibe.
01:39This is all ocean-facing.
01:40In fact, you can see a beautiful view of the skyline over there.
01:43You can see somebody jet skiing.
01:45That looks expensive.
01:46I have high hopes for this breakfast buffet.
01:48There is no suite in this hotel that costs under $1,000.
01:52And so they should have something to bring it to the next level.
01:55If they don't, that's going to be a tough start to the day.
01:57So right now, I'm going to head into the buffet and take my first look.
01:59How are you doing, my guy?
02:01Good.
02:01Good balance.
02:01Don't drop that.
02:02As you walk in, it looks very modern, sleek.
02:04The first thing you see when you walk in is fish.
02:06Kind of not what I'm in the mood for at this moment.
02:08Here they have an assortment of pickled items.
02:10As we move down, we're heading into the chilled meats and cheeses section.
02:14You'll see there's one noticeable omission from the meat selection here, which is work.
02:19I don't care how much money you have.
02:20Good luck ordering bacon here.
02:22Here we have a variety of delicious cheeses, including this right here.
02:25This is super fun.
02:26You push down and rotate this wheel until you get a delicious bundle of cheese.
02:32Over here, we have muesli, pudding, some different things like that.
02:35From there, we moved into the dairy section.
02:37They have cottage cheese yogurts.
02:39The fruit is very nicely organized.
02:41All right, right here, I got blackberries and I got raspberries.
02:43And I'm going to combine that with full fat yogurts.
02:45Mmm, I'm such a chef.
02:46This is probably the most standout feature of this breakfast buffet.
02:49An effin' chocolate fondue station.
02:51With plenty of things right here that you can actually dip into the chocolate.
02:54We'll be coming back to that later.
02:56Here we are in the bread section.
02:58We have fresh loaves of bread, muffins, croissants.
03:01Here, an assortment of tiny breakfast baguettes.
03:04Right here, we have some European-looking bread.
03:06That bread looks like it'll last two days.
03:07Whereas American bread could last up to five years.
03:11Pretty good stuff.
03:12Right here, we have some delicious pastries.
03:14This is a chocolate hazelnut.
03:16Financier.
03:17Financier.
03:18Financier.
03:19I'm going to need some of the finances.
03:20Goddamn trim.
03:21Right here, this section is beautiful.
03:23It makes me feel healthy.
03:24There's fruit laid out perfectly.
03:25And then there's this right here.
03:27Different concoctions of their own making.
03:29Green apple, cucumber, celery, ginger.
03:31Gross.
03:31Right here, they have a milkshake.
03:33Banana, peanut butter, almond milk.
03:35I'm 100% going to try one of these.
03:36Then we've come upon the salad bar.
03:38I understand why it has to exist, but I wish it didn't.
03:41But what I do like about the salad bar is this type of vegetable right here.
03:44Cheese balls.
03:44This is called labneh.
03:45We have enough for our first round.
03:46Let's go sit down and try it out.
03:48First of all, milkshake.
03:49What I'm scared about is trying to drink this and having it all end up on my face and shirt.
03:53I'm not trying to do that kind of a scene here at breakfast.
03:55Oh, God, this is dangerous.
04:12No.
04:13Oh, it cuts.
04:16Oh, yeah.
04:17That's good.
04:17Peanut, banana, almond milk.
04:19How do you milk an almond?
04:22It's pretty good.
04:22Moving on.
04:23Here, two cheeses.
04:24First of all, this right here, it looks like a beautiful type of coral plant under the ocean.
04:31Dry and sharp.
04:32Kind of like a parmesan, but a little bit more mild.
04:34But it's good.
04:35Now we're moving on to our next cheese, the labneh.
04:40Why did I get five of those?
04:44It's kind of like a fed up.
04:45It's super thick and creamy and just coats your entire mouth immediately.
04:49I hate it.
04:51But I love that at the same time.
04:52Right here, we have raspberry and full-fat yogurt.
04:56It's not necessarily expensive ingredients, but it tastes great.
04:59Lastly, it's time to try the dessert of Course 1.
05:02The financier.
05:03Oh, wow.
05:03I didn't even notice this.
05:04Flip it over.
05:05It's a cupcake or a muffin with chocolate chips inside.
05:08Oh, my God.
05:11Decadent sweet.
05:14This is delicious.
05:15And it's got nuts inside.
05:16So that is Course 1.
05:17Let's head back in for Course 2.
05:19Hello, good sir.
05:19Could I order a whole cheese pire?
05:21Yes.
05:22Just for me?
05:23Really?
05:24You'll make it?
05:24Yes.
05:25Moving along on our tour.
05:26Right here, we have turkey and ham emmental cheese croissants.
05:29We have cream cheese pesto danishes.
05:31Ooh.
05:32And a Russian pancake with cherry compote.
05:34I've never heard of this before.
05:36I'm definitely going to be trying that.
05:37Right here, we have the cherry compote.
05:39Moving along to the hot foods over here.
05:41We've got fried rice.
05:42We've got fried noodles.
05:43All right.
05:44So our Asian folks are covered.
05:45They don't really need anything else.
05:46Oh, wait.
05:47We've got more for them.
05:48We've got some steamed chicken barbecue buns.
05:49See, that's a problem.
05:50There needs to be in there.
05:54At least a chicken steamed bun.
05:55Okay.
05:55You know what?
05:55It's making me curious.
05:57Let me try it out and see if they're somehow doing something magical with it.
06:00Right here, we have some vegetable dim sum.
06:02Right here, we have crystal frawn hakao.
06:04Our Asian fun continues here with congee.
06:06Right here, we have miso soup, which looks like it needs a little bit of a mix.
06:10There we go.
06:11That's the miso.
06:12I know.
06:12Oh, how many poor Dubai people are just eating that top layer of miso without mixing it up?
06:17To wrap up the buffet right here, we have a couple of Indian options.
06:19Looks pretty good, but not for me.
06:21Let's go check on that pide.
06:22All right, folks.
06:22My pide is right here.
06:23It's looking cheesy and delicious.
06:25He hits it with a little bit of oil.
06:26Next, he takes the knife to it, cutting it into triangular pieces.
06:29All of that goes onto a plate.
06:31We have a buffet food.
06:31We have a pide.
06:32Let's go eat.
06:33All right, folks.
06:33Check it out.
06:34Course number two, starting with this.
06:35One of my favorite Turkish foods, cheese, oil.
06:38They put what looks to be some black sesame seeds on there and some herbs as well.
06:44Cheesy.
06:45There's a nice crackery, crispy, thin dough on the bottom.
06:47There's nothing to not like about that.
06:50And then here, we have the Asian invasion.
06:52And I'm including Russia here because like half of Russia is Asian.
06:55I have no chopsticks.
06:56Let's start with the...
06:59That's not going to work.
07:00All right, this is going to be my first time eating dim sum with a fork.
07:02So here we have the hot gow.
07:06Yummy.
07:07Nice wrapper.
07:07There's a real shrimp in there.
07:08Overall, it tastes pretty good.
07:10Moving on.
07:11This is a steamed bun with chicken.
07:13Interesting.
07:13It looks like it's got potential.
07:19It is meaty.
07:20What they lack in animal fat, they make up for with sugar.
07:22It is a very sweet steamed bun.
07:24But overall, I would say passable.
07:25Right here, we have our Russian pancake.
07:31Wow.
07:31The cherry compote.
07:32Delicious.
07:33And underneath the pancake, kind of just tastes like bread.
07:35It falls apart pretty easily.
07:37Super unique.
07:37I bet that would taste amazing if it was fresh off the griddle.
07:39Seeing how much I'm enjoying the food here, the restaurant staff actually prepared a surprise
07:44course for me.
07:45Featuring two of their best breakfast dessert offerings.
07:48First, a mixed fruit dessert with a stunning presentation.
07:52A fancy, sweet little fruit salad.
07:54I like it.
07:54And a special French toast soaked in coconut milk for 24 hours.
07:58The top here just feels really crispy like a creme brulee.
08:01Let's see what happens.
08:02Uh-huh.
08:02Look at that.
08:03Like a gorgeous piece of cake.
08:04Oh, that's delicious.
08:10It's super soft.
08:11The dough is slightly saturated.
08:12The top definitely receives some sugar and some flame to give it this crispy exterior.
08:16That is French toast fit for a French king.
08:18I just saw the wildest thing.
08:19There's a guy walking around breakfast holding a giant blackbird.
08:22I'm so used to homeless people in the USA.
08:24I was like, how did he get through security?
08:25But I think he's being paid to be here.
08:27I waved him over.
08:27Whoa.
08:28Hello, bird man.
08:29Hi.
08:29So you brought a bird to breakfast?
08:31Ah, yes.
08:31It's a hawk.
08:33I use him for pest control.
08:34He chases away pigeons.
08:35What?
08:37What does this bird do to the pigeons?
08:39It just kills them, huh?
08:40Yeah, once he catches one, he'll kill it.
08:41That's so badass.
08:42This breakfast just went up a whole new level.
08:44Uh, well, good luck with all your pigeon killing.
08:46All right.
08:48All right.
08:48Breakfast is almost over, but there is one more food I must try, and that is the chocolate fondue.
08:53It looks like they have some kind of a bear-shaped cookie.
08:55They have a waffle.
08:56They have a tiny pancake.
08:57And they have a marshmallow.
08:58Once you see something you like, you just stick it in the chocolate, I guess.
09:01Oh, beautifully coated.
09:03Let's try some waffle.
09:05Uh, excuse me, sir.
09:05Could I have a stick, please?
09:06What I'm going to do next is completely unprecedented and has never been attempted before in this buffet.
09:11Thank you so much.
09:12Right here, a chocolate donut.
09:13You might think, oh, there's already enough chocolate on it.
09:16Incorrect.
09:16You take the stick, you put it through the donut, and now it's time to really get chocolatey.
09:20Oh, a chocolate chocolate donut.
09:22At last, a vanilla donut.
09:24Oh, yeah.
09:25That's nice.
09:26Our final plate is complete.
09:27Let's go.
09:28Let's start with this.
09:29The marshmallow.
09:31The marshmallow, okay.
09:36The quality of chocolate, a little bit bitter.
09:38I don't know.
09:38They should put milk chocolate in there.
09:40But here we have a delicious waffle.
09:44Waffle's a little old and dry.
09:45I think this is a food that's more for, you know, it's like the Titanic when it's going down.
09:49Women and children.
09:50That's who's eating this.
09:50That said, I did chocolatify my chocolate donut.
09:53Nice.
09:58That's the best one by far.
09:59So this is what a seven-star buffet looks like.
10:01But next, we're going to see a seven-star suite.
10:03I'm talking a room with two fours that cost $3,000 per day.
10:07Let's head there now and take a look.
10:08From the elevator, I'm going to show you how to get to the room.
10:11Now, usually in a hotel, you would just walk down a hallway.
10:13That would be boring.
10:14Here, they do something much more epic.
10:16Let's check it out.
10:17Here, this huge open space is what leads you to your bedroom.
10:20And as you look up, you can see the amazing and unique architecture here for all the different
10:25entrances to all the different suites.
10:27Now, today, I'm in a very special suite.
10:29Actually, there's only three of these suites in the entire hotel.
10:32And it's on the end for a special reason.
10:34That's because it has one hell of a view.
10:35From the 19th floor, let's take a look at this view.
10:42Welcome to the Club Suite C view with Butler Service.
10:46It is 330 meters squared.
10:48Can I be honest with you?
10:49I've not looked around yet.
10:50I've just checked in and I'm excited to see how it looks.
10:53First, art.
10:53Now, this hotel room has so many places to sit.
10:56Here is the first of many places where you could sit down and think about life and not
11:00think about your finances.
11:02Here, they have some welcome food.
11:03The furniture.
11:04Everything looks like it comes from a different planet.
11:06This couch here looks like it was made from the genie in Aladdin.
11:10I mean, there is gold everywhere.
11:11Maybe even the toilet.
11:12I'm not sure.
11:12So, leaving this lounging area, I'm moving on to the next section, which is
11:16a bar with still water and sparkling.
11:19What else do they have here?
11:20Oh, jackpot.
11:22Right here, they do have a refrigerated bar.
11:25And come take a look.
11:25Coke, Sprite, Red Bull.
11:27Down here, they have some champagne and some different wines.
11:29Moving on to the next section over here.
11:32Like I said, another seating area.
11:34This is different from the other place because right there, flat screen TV.
11:38Hello there.
11:39Moving on.
11:40Over here, we have more food and more high-end alcohol.
11:43We've got McKellen, 12-year-old whiskey.
11:45We've got Classy Azul, one of the most expensive top-of-the-shelf tequilas in the world.
11:50Down here, we have an assortment of different snacks.
11:52So, we've got gummy bears.
11:53We've got M&Ms.
11:54On this side, almonds.
11:56Salted smoked almonds.
11:57We've got cashews.
11:58And we've got mixed nuts.
12:00If you get the truffle cashew nuts, that costs $17.
12:04Should I do it?
12:08My wife is upstairs and she just whispered, don't do it.
12:12Tastes like truffle.
12:13Lovely.
12:14Next, this way.
12:15Here we have a circular dining room.
12:17The dining room leads to this area over here.
12:21All right, that's basically nothing.
12:22And then right here, we have a guest bathroom.
12:25With a reverb in here, excellent.
12:26Koreans who sing karaoke would absolutely love this.
12:29Also, there's a bathtub for your butthole.
12:31Moving on.
12:31Oh my god.
12:32What the heck?
12:34There's a whole ass billiards table.
12:36It's bigger than a pool table.
12:37Then on this side of the room, the view of the ocean is pretty amazing.
12:40Here we have an entire full kitchen.
12:43We have a coffee machine that's plated in gold.
12:45But if you want to steam water, that's just regular ass plastic.
12:48There's a microwave.
12:49There's an oven.
12:52Oh, and there's an exit.
12:56Welcome back.
13:01So that is the main level.
13:02But actually, the bedroom is upstairs.
13:04Let's go take a look.
13:06This is wild.
13:07As you enter the top floor here, it's like your bedroom has a lobby.
13:11I'm surprised there's not a secretary there taking appointments for nap time.
13:14Another seating area right here.
13:15This is a good place to sleep if you get in a fight with your wife.
13:18Oh, wow.
13:19I really do feel like Aladdin in here.
13:21This is like a little over the top.
13:23It's something that would take a little bit of getting used to.
13:24Now, if I could live here for free, no problemo.
13:28As we head over here, it looks like they have a hidden TV.
13:31Oh, check it out.
13:3412 seconds later.
13:36Oh, there it is.
13:37Oh, no YouTube?
13:38All right, no problem.
13:39Bye.
13:392,000 years later.
13:44Moving on.
13:45So that is the bedroom.
13:46Let's check out what's over here.
13:47This is kind of a closet.
13:49First of all, the vanity.
13:50This is for the ladies.
13:52They even have a Dyson hairdryer.
13:54Moving on.
13:55In the event of fire, break tube.
13:57So here, another mysterious locked door.
13:59Down here, a closet.
14:00As we head back, we move to the master bathroom.
14:03Wow, purple everywhere.
14:05Starting off with the sink.
14:06A sink for him and her.
14:08Wow, look at this soap.
14:08I'm definitely taking this home.
14:10Taking this home.
14:11Taking this home.
14:12I'm taking this home.
14:13I'm taking...
14:14Damn it, that's attached.
14:15Moving on.
14:16Here, another toilet.
14:17Can I say?
14:17A little bit of gold on the toilet, but I would like to see more gold.
14:20And then perhaps the highlight of the bedroom area, this right here.
14:24Not a bathtub, but a jacuzzi with several jacuzzi jets.
14:27That looks awesome.
14:28I'm not going to show you how it works.
14:29That is for the OnlyFan.
14:35Why do you show yourself as the OnlyFan?
14:37I don't know.
14:37So far, we've experienced the breakfast buffet, and we've taken a tour of a $3,000 room.
14:43Coming up next, lunch.
14:44Here at the Burj Al Arab, you can find a range of dining options, from beach clubs and bars
14:49to the Skyview Lounge and Michelin-rated restaurants.
14:52Since the breakfast buffet was solid, I've decided to give the lunch buffet a try, too,
14:56at a restaurant known as Al Iwan.
14:58The biggest difference?
14:59I have to pay for the lunch buffet.
15:01And let me tell you, it's not cheap.
15:03It's $140 per person for one buffet.
15:06Already, I took a quick glance inside.
15:08It's not hundreds of foods.
15:09It's like 60 foods.
15:10Let's take a look.
15:12So let's do a super fast tour, just so you guys can see, like, the diminutive size of
15:16the buffet.
15:17It starts right here with Arabic salad.
15:19Right here is something special that I'm going to show you later.
15:21Right here is the center area with all the desserts.
15:23Right here, there's bread and some main courses.
15:26Hello?
15:27Hot food items over here.
15:29Fruit right here.
15:30And then some seafood options right here.
15:32That's the whole thing.
15:33I think perhaps what they're focusing on is the quality.
15:35Let's get into it.
15:36These are Arabic salads, and this is something I like about going to any new country, is trying
15:40the local food.
15:42Or do I?
15:43Right here, we have what looks to be a beet dish.
15:46It has a strange pink hue.
15:47It looks almost like a dessert.
15:49Down here, Montabelle.
15:50I feel like I need a guide just for this buffet.
15:52I don't know what anything is.
15:53Over here, we have hashgay badinjan.
15:56It's got a nice color to it.
15:57Right here, we have something interesting.
15:58This is what they're saying is their specialty.
16:01So what is this?
16:01I mean, look at how soft and juicy that is.
16:05Right on top of the rice, please.
16:06Beautiful.
16:07Meanwhile, I would like some yogurt, but I like to keep my sauces separated, if you know
16:10what I mean.
16:11Let's head to the table.
16:11All right, folks, we are going to do a speed run of this buffet, and here's why.
16:14It's only open another hour and five minutes.
16:17I'm going to take some of this Prussian salad, and I'm going to put it right here in this pocket.
16:23Cold, onion-y, a little sweet, like caramelized onions, and maybe some saffron, too.
16:28And also pomegranate.
16:29But I like it.
16:29It's got personality.
16:30Meanwhile, right here, we have either jello cubes or a beet salad.
16:36Mmm, that's good.
16:37There's some kind of a cream around the beets, so it's creamy.
16:40The beets have that great, sweet, earthy flavor.
16:42Next food, right here.
16:43This is their specialty here.
16:44First, I'm going to hit a little bit of rice.
16:47Mmm, delicious.
16:48It tastes of cumin and also cinnamon.
16:50Meanwhile, on top here, we've got that meat.
16:55Juicy, soft, tender lamb.
16:56It's perfectly balanced, but I'm going to add some yogurt on.
17:02This is the perfect appetizer, but we have limited time.
17:05I've got to see more.
17:05Let's go back up there and justify this $140.
17:08Take a look at this.
17:09That looks like a tagine.
17:10Right here, we have a couscous.
17:11Right here, we have prawns with hara sauce.
17:13Definitely going to be getting that.
17:15Here, lady fish fingers, something I've never heard of before.
17:18It does look like whole fried fish.
17:20Here, we have lamb burgui.
17:21Smells very Middle Eastern.
17:23Ah, and then here, we have olives with beef.
17:25This one is shish burak.
17:27I've not heard of most of these.
17:29Over here, we have some fried specialties.
17:31A lot of this looks like Turkish mezze.
17:33What is this?
17:33Is that a fortune cookie?
17:34Oh, it's a lemon.
17:35Why not?
17:36Look how freaking sweet this guy looks.
17:38Dude, look at me.
17:39I look like a schlub.
17:40I'm putting up a lot of poor people vibes.
17:42That guy.
17:42Next, we have some chicken and another type of chicken.
17:45Here, I believe we have mixed kebab.
17:47This looks like the best thing I've seen so far.
17:48And then this is my favorite thing in the world.
17:50This is something I had in Lebanon called tum.
17:53It's like a white garlic sauce.
17:54Right here, we have some shrimp.
17:55These look gorgeous.
17:57This is good enough for this round.
17:58Let's go try it out.
17:59All right, folks, course two.
18:00And I might just have time for only one more after this.
18:02So let's get to it.
18:03Here, we have some delicious shrimpies.
18:11That's not very good.
18:12I would expect a shrimp to be more, like, bouncy.
18:14Somehow, they made a shrimp that's, like, old and dry.
18:19That shrimp, not for human consumption.
18:21But let's see over here.
18:21This might be something more to the strength of this hotel.
18:23The kebab.
18:24We have the sheet kebab.
18:25And we have the chicken.
18:26Now, I'm worried about the dryness factor here, too.
18:28But luckily, we have this right here.
18:30God's glorious creamy garlic sauce.
18:35Mm-hmm.
18:36Mm-hmm.
18:37Oh.
18:37So the shrimp and this chicken, they're in the desert, right?
18:39No.
18:40It's just also very dry.
18:41I'm not sure what's going on here.
18:42But this tomb sauce, that's, like, 10 out of 10.
18:44It's creamy.
18:45It's like a mayonnaise with, like, 100x garlic flavor.
18:48This should be more juicy.
18:50It has more animal fat.
18:53Mm-hmm.
18:54Juicy.
18:54It's a little rubbery, too.
18:55I would say pretty passable, though.
18:56Here's the thing.
18:57I don't come here to trash this place.
18:58I'm rooting for chefs.
18:59I'm rooting for restaurants.
19:00This is not easy work.
19:01But if you have a buffet that costs $140 and something's not good, I'm going to tell you.
19:05That said, we're moving on to this.
19:06It's a whole fried fish.
19:08I'm going to try to pop.
19:09Oh, there we go.
19:10It comes apart so easily.
19:11You can see the ribs and spine right there.
19:13We've got this crunchy breaded side.
19:15And then that fish kind of filet on the inside.
19:17Now, I'm going to give it a little bit of a dip in the tomb and toss it back.
19:24That's really good.
19:25The outside is breaded.
19:26It's seasoned.
19:27It's got a nice crunch and a nice flavor.
19:28The fish itself, pretty soft, pretty flaky.
19:30But it pairs perfectly with this garlic creamy sauce.
19:34Mm-hmm.
19:34This is a big win for me.
19:36So that is course number two.
19:37I got time for one more.
19:38Let's move.
19:38This is the seafood section.
19:40First seafood, olives.
19:43Second seafood.
19:45What are you?
19:46These are very small crab clusters.
19:49Here we're moving into the mussel territory.
19:50Beyond that, we have shrimp.
19:52This is the redemption arc of the shrimp.
19:54This is a cold shrimp this time.
19:55So at least it's not been sitting in some kind of heater box for the last four hours.
19:59Let's take a look at the desserts.
20:00Right here we have a pistachio baklava.
20:02And then there's fruit.
20:03If you paid $140 to come here and eat fruit, then you have a lot of disposable income and I want to hang out with you.
20:07Because you make poor decisions.
20:08This is kanafeng.
20:09This one is for me off camera, guys.
20:13Let's go eat.
20:14First crab.
20:14Not very big.
20:17Oh, is that something?
20:19Can I be honest?
20:21It doesn't smell good and it looks kind of black, so I'm not going to eat it.
20:23Instead, I'll risk my life with this.
20:25A mussel.
20:25Right here we have lemon.
20:27Huh.
20:27Hmm.
20:27They put it securely in a little bag.
20:30And you're meant to squeeze it through the bag.
20:32Oh, you squeeze it through?
20:35Oh my God.
20:37Cool.
20:37Let's try it out.
20:41Hmm.
20:41It's a cold mussel.
20:42I don't know.
20:42I don't think they really did anything to it.
20:44There's some herbs on there, but...
20:47Not especially tasty.
20:48And perhaps a little bit risky.
20:49Here's what I really care about right here.
20:50A chance at redemption.
20:51These are little cold shrimpies.
20:57Hmm.
20:57Better.
20:58It's basically a cocktail shrimp.
20:59They put some sauce on it.
21:00The sauce doesn't really have flavor.
21:02It's bouncier this time.
21:03That's good.
21:04But I gotta say, there's nothing special happening here.
21:05With each bite I take, my heart is breaking and my wallet is breaking even more.
21:10The last thing I have here is some kanafe.
21:11It's a Turkish dessert made from cheese.
21:14Yep.
21:14That's it.
21:14That is a kanafe and that's a nice cheese pull that's in Turkey.
21:17Let's give it a shot and see if it's any good.
21:21What is it?
21:25It's like cream cheese or something inside?
21:27Um, I give up.
21:28I've been to buffets that cost a couple of dollars that are better than this.
21:31And if somebody sees this video, it's not personal, but you gotta do something to make
21:34it worth that money, right?
21:36This is one of the worst buffets I've ever been to.
21:38Why am I eating it?
21:39So lunch turned out to be a bit of a disaster.
21:42But I can't let that kill my enthusiasm for the rest of my stay.
21:45So here's my plan for dinner.
21:47Instead of dining out and eating one meal, I'm dining in and ordering half the menu.
21:51A strategy that's bound to land me with something delicious.
21:59Alright folks, we have our room service selection right here.
22:02Come take a look.
22:03All the way from here.
22:04Salt, pepper, butter, condiments, free bread, not free bread, Arab food, seafood, all the
22:09way to something American over here.
22:11We're gonna go through all of these one by one and I'm gonna tell you the ridiculous prices
22:15that I'm paying for this.
22:17This right here in front of me.
22:18These are oysters guillard du.
22:20No.
22:21Du.
22:22I, I, I.
22:24Half dozen mignonette with vinegar, Tabasco, lemon, and brown bread.
22:28Basically, you put the oyster on a piece of rye bread and you eat it like that.
22:32Nice.
22:33Hit it with a little bit of vinegar and toss it back.
22:39Sour from the vinegar.
22:41Very briny, but fresh and crunchy.
22:43I like it.
22:43So let's talk about the price of the oysters.
22:47$104.
22:48That means per oyster, I'm paying.
22:52It's roughly $17 per oyster.
22:54I can see it both ways.
22:56On one hand, that is very expensive.
22:57On the other hand, these oysters probably grew up in France.
23:00Then they had to get a visa to come to Dubai.
23:02They came here.
23:03They came up the elevator.
23:04They came into my room.
23:04They got eaten.
23:05Maybe that's worth $17.
23:06The next food, this is chicken wings coming in at $36.
23:10It looks like a chicken McNugget on a bone.
23:12Here we have a sweet chili sauce.
23:13I'm going to get a little bit of a dip.
23:18I would say the breading is okay.
23:20It's kind of like a light dusting of panko or something.
23:23But the chicken is pretty juicy.
23:24And I love the way you can just slide it right off the bone.
23:29Moving on to our next food right here, the burger.
23:32This is the Burj Al Arab Burger.
23:34First of all, this burger is 100% wagyu.
23:36Now, it doesn't necessarily make sense to have a wagyu beef patty since it's ground up meat anyways.
23:41And you can already decide how much fat and protein you want to mix together in the beef patty.
23:44But moving on.
23:45It also has a brioche bun, cheddar cheese, lettuce, and tomato.
23:48All standard stuff.
23:49There's no foie gras.
23:50There's no gold.
23:51The price is $58.
23:55Take a look at it.
23:55To be fair, that does include french fries.
23:57The french fries are pretty decent.
23:59The burger is pretty huge.
24:00Although it is sliding off the bun.
24:02Let's give it a shot.
24:09It's not bad.
24:10The construction could use a little bit of work.
24:11They have a lot of watery ingredients on the bottom.
24:14And so the bun has already broken.
24:16That is a soggy $58 burger bun.
24:19Here's what you have to do.
24:19Either you put the vegetables on the side or you put lettuce on the bottom.
24:23Lettuce creates a perfect buffer.
24:24Then all the wet stuff on top.
24:26That keeps that bottom bun dry.
24:27Moving on, we have one food remaining right here.
24:29This is the Arabic Seafood Mixed Grill.
24:32It has sea bass, lobster, squid, prawns, and even charmoula sauce right here.
24:37This is the most expensive thing that I ordered.
24:39This plate right here is $114.
24:41I want to start with some fish.
24:45That's good.
24:46Juicy.
24:46A great seasoning.
24:47A little bit of oil.
24:48I got to say, that's one of the best bites I've had all day so far.
24:51From there, we have squid.
24:52It's like a little squid popat.
24:55It tastes delicious.
24:57It's got just the right amount of chili powder, spices, and heavy oil.
25:00Next, we've got shrimp.
25:02I don't get a shrimp.
25:03Last of all, we have half a lobster right here.
25:05It looks glorious.
25:06This is the pinnacle of this meal.
25:08Let's give it a shot.
25:13Perfectly cooked.
25:14Everything has the same seasoning, oil, spice on it.
25:17But they're all bringing their own flavor personality to the party.
25:19So, those are four random dishes that you can get for in-room dining here at the Burj Al Arab.
25:24Wow, the total price that I spent for everything is this.
25:27Yeah, that sucks.
25:29Overall, I found the room service to be good.
25:30That burger really missed the mark, though.
25:32I mean, look at it.
25:33It looks like it lost a street fight.
25:34This concludes our dining experience at one of the world's most opulent hotels.
25:39A place that asserts it has risen above the norm, earning itself an extra two stars.
25:43But how many stars would you give it?
25:45Four.
25:46Not out of five.
25:47Four out of seven.
25:48Even though I don't think it was the best food experience, I do think this was an experience worth having.
25:52I mean, just look at this modern marvel.
25:54It looks amazing.
25:55It's amazing that human beings are able to construct something like this.
25:58But then you realize those human beings that inspired you are the same ones charging you $320 for a small bottle of Classe Azul tequila.
26:05That's right.
26:05That bottle, that's how much it costs.
26:06Isn't that wild?
26:07Today, I experienced the breakfast buffet.
26:09A pretty good one, actually.
26:10But then came the lunch buffet.
26:12For $140, I was hoping for much more.
26:15Like fresh food stations, live cooking.
26:18To me, that buffet should have cost no more than $30.
26:21Finally, the in-room dining dinner.
26:23It was okay.
26:24But my main issue, a $60 burger that was soggy.
26:28That one really broke my heart.
26:30So those are just my thoughts.
26:31I know for a lot of you watching, $3,000 a night is not much money.
26:34So for you, probably worth it.
26:36But let me know what you think.
26:36Is this an experience you would like to have if it was, you know, free dollars?
26:40Otherwise, that is it for this video.
26:41This is our final moment and our final video here in Dubai.
26:44I had a great time.
26:45This is my first time coming to the United Arab Emirates.
26:47And I've never felt so united and so Arab.
26:51I hope you enjoyed this video and this series.
26:52Let me know where else I should go in the Middle East next.
26:54Otherwise, that is it for this one.
26:56Thank you so much for watching.
26:56I will see you next time.
26:58Peace.
