00:00How are the celebrities going to spot the traitors?
00:04I wanna be a traitor.
00:07How are they gonna figure out who they are?
00:10Let me show you a couple of deception tools
00:13that you can look out for over these coming weeks.
00:16Eye blocking.
00:18This is where when people are being deceptive,
00:21they look to block contact with their eyes.
00:24Jonathan Ross has already exhibited this
00:27when some of the traitors are being discussed.
00:30When everybody else is looking around,
00:31once the traitors had been allocated,
00:33looking around to who might it be,
00:35he temporarily looked down.
00:37And in looking down, your eyelids cover your eyes.
00:41Truth slips.
00:43This is where the body language contradicts
00:47what's coming out of the mouth.
00:49Richard Nixon, the US president, famously said,
00:53live on television,
00:55people need to know whether or not their president's a crook.
00:58Well, I'm not a crook.
01:00I earned every cent of that money.
01:02So that's a truth slip.
01:03That's where the body language contradicts
01:06what's coming out of the mouth.
01:08And that's the body telling the truth whilst the mouth lies.
01:11So watch out for that one.
01:13What else can we do?
01:15Facial touching, self-comfort gestures.
01:18Interestingly, Alan Carr exhibited these
01:22when feeling that strain about Paloma
01:26and how he had put her in that coffin.
01:30And he was touching his head and had his hands in his mouth
01:34when that was being discussed.
01:36So watch out for facial touching, the self-comfort gestures.
01:41Touching the head, touching the face, putting their hands in the mouth,
01:44that kind of more nervous behaviour.
01:45Alan Carr's already exhibited some of those.
01:49But my favourite deception tell is one known as duping delight.
01:55And that's when somebody has successfully deceived somebody
01:58and they experience that sense of relief or maybe even joy that they've done it.
02:03That devious may well come into play.
02:06They can just a little half smile.
02:09So when you communicate, they communicate a lie and you communicate to them
02:13that perhaps you are believing it.
02:16They may well just have a little smile, a little half smile.
02:21Sometimes both corners of the mouth or sometimes just one.
02:26Just a little tiny little, what we call a micro expression of happiness, of relief, of joy.
02:31Over the coming weeks when the traders who are successfully flying under the radar at the moment
02:36are more directly confronted, if they succeed in being able to convince one of the faithful
02:43that they are in fact telling the truth, duping delight may well be something that could be real use.
02:50My final clue we call forced eye contact.
02:54Now we all know the old trick that people, I mentioned it earlier,
02:57that people try to avoid eye contact when they're lying.
03:00But really good liars know that, they understand that, and they've thought about it.
03:05And they go now, I want to make sure that I don't block eyes or I don't look away.
03:10So they don't make eye contact, but they make much more eye contact than they normally will.
03:16So forced eye contact, they're doing it too much.
03:19And that in itself can become really telling to people trying to read deception.
03:24My final trick, something that actually Kate Garroway did in episode one.
03:31She was looking for what we call variance from baseline.
03:35So she was asking Cat a number of questions like, are you wearing a check jacket?
03:39Cat goes, well, yes, I am.
03:41And then she goes, are you a traitor?
03:43So she was trying to establish what a cat looked like.
03:46How did she sound? How did she behave?
03:48What's her body language like when she's being truthful?
03:51Then asked her whether she was a traitor.
03:54And to see if she could see any change, any variance from baseline.
04:00That is a fantastic deception tool.
04:03Watch out for those key tools coming over the coming weeks on this quest that the faithful are on.
04:11To try and figure out who are the traitor men.
