00:00In the north, gas prices sit at 6.29 pence per kilowatt hour, with a standing charge of 34.15 pence a day.
00:10Electricity costs 25.43 pence per kilowatt hour, with a 59.86 pence daily charge.
00:17For Teesside homes, the slight increase means higher bills heading into winter.
00:22The latest rise follows Ofgem's quarterly review, which sets the maximum amount energy suppliers can charge for each unit of energy.
00:29The typical household will see bills go up by around 2%, bringing the annual total to about £1,755.
00:37That works out as roughly £35 extra a year compared to the previous cap.
00:42Even with the increase, bills remain around £625 lower than they were at the height of the energy crisis in early 2023.
00:51Ofgem says the change reflects higher costs of transporting energy across the network as operators adjust prices to keep supplies stable.
00:59That's a perfect thing.
