Tensions escalate as Pakistan reportedly conducts airstrikes targeting Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) camps in Kabul, coinciding with Taliban Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi’s first official visit to India. The strikes, aimed at TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud, come amid a series of cross-border attacks and heightened security concerns. While Pakistani officials claim a decisive blow, Mehsud later confirmed he survived the assault, keeping the volatile situation on edge. Analysts warn the attacks could further strain Afghanistan-Pakistan relations and trigger regional instability.

00:00Pakistan airstrike in Kabul, Afghanistan. Pakistan claims TTP chief kill. Taliban
00:22government says no damage, everything under control. On Thursday night,
00:27chaos erupted in Afghanistan's capital Kabul with loud explosions and gunfire.
00:37According to local citizens and media reports near Abdul Haq Square, there were several loud
00:43explosions and the sounds of fighter jets were heard in the sky. In the videos going viral on
00:49social media, plumes of smoke were seen rising from the scene, spreading panic in the area.
00:56Meanwhile, Pakistani media claims that this attack was carried out by the Pakistani Air Force,
01:02targeting the top leadership of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, or TTP.
01:08According to Pakistani media reports, TTP's chief Mufti Noorwali Mehsud has been killed in this
01:14airstrike. He had been leading TTP since 2018 and was accused of conducting terrorist activities in
01:21Afghanistan with the support of the Taliban. Additionally, in the attack, two other top
01:27commanders, Qari Saifullah Mehsud, and there is news of Khalid Mehsud being killed as well.
01:33All of them are accused of plotting and executing several major terrorist attacks in Pakistan,
01:39in which more than a thousand people have been killed. Pakistan has described this attack as a
01:44precise and strategic operation aimed at eliminating terrorist bases across the border.
01:52However, regarding this attack, the Taliban government of Afghanistan took a completely
01:57different stance. Taliban government spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid confirmed the incident but did
02:04not give a clear statement about the nature of the attack or any foreign intervention.
02:09They said that an explosion was indeed heard in Kabul, but the situation is completely under control
02:16and there is no need to panic. According to the spokesperson, the incident is being investigated
02:22and no formal information about any damage has been received so far. He also said that it cannot
02:28yet be accurately determined whether the attack was indeed carried out by Pakistan. The Taliban also
02:34did not clarify how they view it if Pakistan did carry out the attack, whether this is as an act of
02:41aggression or as a cooperative step against terrorism. However, the Taliban's silence and cautious
02:48response are being seen as a strategy to avoid regional tensions. The presence of terrorist organizations
02:55active from Afghan soil in Pakistan has previously been a cause of tension in the relations between the two
03:01countries. Meanwhile, in a significant development, Afghanistan's acting foreign minister Amir Khan
03:07Muthaki has arrived in Delhi for a one-week visit to India. This is the first high-level visit since
03:13the Taliban's rule. In such a situation, when there are reports of a possible airstrike by Pakistan in
03:19Kabul, Muthaki's visit to India is also considered diplomatically significant. It will not be easy for the
03:26Taliban to maintain this balance, on one hand, relations with Pakistan, and on the other,
03:32maintaining their legitimacy in the international community.
