00:00I think they're a short return to the deals last night.
00:03No!
00:04Hey!
00:11You?
00:15Your psycho husband's had me stuck in here for days.
00:19I can explain.
00:20A what?
00:21How you kidnapped me off the streets and bundled me in the back of a farm?
00:24I didn't see the highlights.
00:25I mean, you missed a few major details.
00:27It's funny, that, innit?
00:28What do you mean to tell me what is going on?
00:30Well, exactly.
00:31Danny Miller, who plays Aaron Dingle, of course, joins me now.
00:34How on earth did you manage to keep that a secret?
00:37Well, I mean, I can't take the credit for it.
00:39Everdale and the production team were obsessed with the idea
00:42and I was just happy to be a part of it.
00:44I mean, it's like you were a spy.
00:46Did you have a road name and everything?
00:47I did, yeah.
00:48We had names and stuff on the scripts and all that.
00:50Did we know?
00:51No, no.
00:52It was a real shocker, wasn't it?
00:54Yeah.
00:55It really was.
00:56You stayed for how long?
00:57Must be more than a year?
00:58Yeah, so I left to have time off with Albert.
01:01He was nearly two in a couple of weeks.
01:03And, yeah, I had time off with him and then I'm a celeb came in and stuff.
01:07So, two years really, but I went back last year for the 50th.
01:10I didn't mean that.
01:11Of course.
01:12Just for a short stint there to go and be a part of the live story and the dying story.
01:17So, yeah, it's been two years, but yeah, it feels like I've never been always.
01:20I know.
01:21Was it like that?
01:22Was it like the first day you go back, it's like, that's it?
01:24Yeah.
01:25I mean, it was a little bit like going back to school after some holidays, you know, and
01:28you're kind of like a bit nervous and you want to find out why everyone had been doing
01:30lots of new faces and stuff.
01:31So, it was really, really nice and everyone made me feel very welcome again.
01:34It's where you belong though.
01:35Yeah.
01:36Yeah.
01:37There's so much to this character.
01:38I mean, it must have been really good getting back under his skin again.
01:41Yeah.
01:42Especially with this storyline.
01:43Yeah.
01:44Well, yeah.
01:45I mean, it's nice to kind of take him back to his old roots, which was just kind of like,
01:48you know, angry and just sort of much more sort of interesting for me to play and sort
01:52of see him off the dark side.
01:53It must be.
01:54Yeah.
01:55Really, really good scripts.
01:56Yeah.
01:57Yeah.
01:58Really great.
01:59What they are.
02:00I know that.
02:01But when you get a storyline like that, it's fantastic.
02:02What about doing a relationship with Chas?
02:05Because that is fractured, isn't it?
02:07That's a difficult one.
02:08Yeah.
02:09I mean, I think over the next week, you'll kind of see lots of sort of, does he ever get
02:12out of this barn?
02:13You know, what's going to happen if he does get out of the barn and particularly I think
02:16is what's going to happen with Chas, which is on tonight.
02:19Well, we've got sneaky people.
02:20Oh, lovely.
02:21Shall we have a look?
02:22Oh, let's do that.
02:23I think we should.
02:24I needed you more than I've ever needed anyone.
02:26And what did you do?
02:27You pushed me away.
02:29You pretty much packed me off, Pats Wheeler, so you and I could crack on in peace.
02:33I don't know what to say, Aaron.
02:36I'm so ashamed of myself.
02:38I could deal with all the lies.
02:40All the cheating.
02:41We got used to that with you.
02:44But losing.
02:46Losing Liv.
02:48I'll never be the same again.
02:58It's very powerful.
02:59Yeah.
03:00Yeah.
03:01It's amazing working with Lucy.
03:02It's just like, we've just picked up from where we left.
03:04Yeah.
03:05She's amazing.
03:06So, yeah.
03:07Well, that'll be interesting to see how that goes.
03:08Yeah.
03:09Now that you talked about baby Albert, but you've got two now.
03:11I do.
03:12Yes.
03:13I'm very, very lucky.
03:14We both are, me and Stefan.
03:15They're both watching.
03:16Oh, it's wonderful.
03:17Well, yeah.
03:18Steph's just amazing.
03:19You know, it makes my job a lot easier.
03:21Just how amazing she is with them both.
03:23I love the names you chose though.
03:25Albert is a fantastic name.
03:26And is it Edith?
03:27Edith.
03:28Edith.
03:29What a lovely name.
03:30Yeah, yeah.
03:31He's a proper.
03:32He's a proper name, if you know what I mean.
03:33It's like an old school name.
03:34I like it.
03:35Which is what we kind of liked with Albert.
03:37Oh, Luke.
03:38Oh, he's so happy.
03:39Does he get on all right with his wee big sister?
03:41Do you know what?
03:42He's amazing with her.
03:43He really is.
03:44He's probably too kind for her.
03:46Sometimes we have to just make sure that she, he likes to cuddle her.
03:48So, okay.
03:49He said like that.
03:50And she's sometimes a little bit like, what's going on?
03:52So, we have to just say, thank you.
03:53Well done.
03:54You know, like, encourage him to be nice.
03:55It should be like his wee toy.
03:56Yeah.
03:57Yeah.
03:58But the minute she starts crying, he's baby, baby, baby.
04:01He runs upstairs and checks her out.
04:02He's amazing.
04:03Oh, he's just going to be the best big brother.
04:04He will.
04:05I think he will.
04:06But this is a brilliant idea.
04:07Albert's bookshelf.
04:09Yes.
04:10This is fabulous.
04:11Tell me how that all came about.
04:12Well, it was an idea.
04:13Me and my good friend, Nige Glukas, we started this sort of audio book thing for reading, reading
04:18books for children, effectively.
04:19Because Albert's always like listening to books.
04:21Sure.
04:22And originally it was an idea of just sort of, when I'm not there, Steph can play it and
04:25it was a birthday present.
04:26And then Nige said to me, why don't you release these?
04:28Yeah, of course.
04:29Of course.
04:30We started releasing some audio books on Alms Bookshelf and Spotify and all these different
04:34sort of podcast levels.
04:35So it's, we're just like, we can't believe the response.
04:37It's in like 50 odd countries.
04:39That's brilliant, Danny.
04:40And anything that gets kids interested in books, because they start listening to it
04:44and then they'll pick up the book.
04:45Yeah.
04:46Isn't it the best thing?
04:47Yeah.
04:48Reading books to your kids.
04:49Yeah.
04:50It's just something, you know, because you get all the new ones that are coming out
04:53and you can read them all the ones that you grew up with as a fantastic child.
04:56And you play loads of different characters as well, which was the interesting thing to
04:59me, you know, doing all these voices and all that kind of stuff.
05:02So yes, it's a nice little project.
05:03It's fantastic.
05:04Now look, we saw there, we were talking about Simon.
05:07You know, all of the Simon Gregson was talking to our time about mental health and
05:10things.
05:11And I know Simon's a good mate of yours.
05:12Yeah.
05:13You were both in, when you weren't in the jungle, you were in the Welsh castle.
05:15Castle, yeah.
05:16You were in the castle together and I know you're very, very close.
05:18Yeah.
05:19And isn't it brilliant that he's doing that and just talking about how you feel?
05:22Yeah, absolutely.
05:23Look, Simon's a good friend and we have such a great life in there as well, you know.
05:27But for me, it's, we kind of talked about it between us and Simon and so it's kind of
05:32now becoming public and it's the idea of just keeping talking and getting ready and talking
05:35and all that kind of stuff.
05:36I think it's a great idea and a great passion project for everybody because I think it makes
05:40it, like he says in the BBC, it makes it easy once you get talking.
05:42It really does.
05:43Now, as we said, you were in Wales.
05:45You know what they do?
05:46They, well, they did do it this year.
05:48The Amoslavity Special.
05:49Yes.
05:50And they did it in South Africa, which is nice and warm and lovely and gorgeous.
05:53Yeah.
05:54You'd be up for that, wouldn't you, next year?
05:56Yeah.
05:57I mean, you know, I'm a massive fan of the show.
05:59I know.
06:00I know.
06:01So it's a chance to do it again, but somewhere else would be great.
06:02Oh, it would be in love.
06:03Yeah.
06:04We just have to do it.
06:05The Campos said something.
06:06He said, you know, once you've won it, you'd be putting so much pressure on yourself.
06:09And I think I've always got that memory now.
06:11So I kind of agree with what he's saying.
06:13But I'd definitely, you know, set the call.
06:15Go for it.
06:16Go for it.
06:17You know, big producer type people if you're watching.
06:20Thank you very much.
06:21It's so good to see you.
06:23Really.
06:24I had no idea.
06:25It was, it was, it's very difficult these days to keep something secret.
06:28So all credit to you and everybody at Emmerdale.
06:30Yeah, absolutely.
06:31Because it was like, oh, that one of those.
06:33Great to see you.
06:34And you.
06:35I hope you're there for a very long time.
06:36It's all right.
06:37And Emmerdale continues with an hour long special course tonight.
06:39That's at 7 o'clock on ITV1.
06:42Right.
06:43So after the break, we have a first look at that.
06:45Now, if you thought we're in for a quiet week in Emmerdale, think again.
06:49Of course we're at Josie.
06:50It's Emmerdale for goodness sake.
06:52But from it, in fact, a short of Marshall's been finding out the residents of the Dells are speeding towards disaster.
06:58For more than 50 years, Emmerdale has provided some of the most thrilling and memorable moments in soap history.
07:08And today I'm on location for the latest sensational and miserable blockbuster Emmerdale event, which involves...
07:15Mac, Chloe and Charity take a leisurely drive through the countryside.
07:20That doesn't sound very exciting.
07:22I mean, come on, what memorable Emmerdale moments have ever involved a vehicle?
07:34Yeah, all right. Point taken.
07:36Actually, I'm a bit nervous about what's going to happen now.
07:38I might find somewhere safe to stand just while it's all going on.
07:45Of course this is never going to be just a leisurely drive through the countryside.
07:52This is Emmerdale.
07:54Expect action, suspense, drama, and a huge helping of betrayal.
07:59You see, Mac was with Charity.
08:01And they were kind of on a break when he got Chloe pregnant.
08:04Then he married Charity without telling her about the baby.
08:06Then when Charity took him out, he went back to Chloe.
08:08And then when he definitely wasn't on any sort of break with Chloe, he slept with Charity again.
08:12Now, Chloe's just found out, and they don't know that she knows, and all three of them were in a car together.
08:16I ain't talking about marriage.
08:19All the road again.
08:21But with Chloe plotting Avenge and Mac and Charity harbouring what they believe to be a secret betrayal,
08:26this particular road trip can be conservatively described as tense.
08:31Well, this is nice.
08:33Yeah.
08:34Mackenzie was just saying I'm glad he has to get away from everything.
08:38I've been under a lot of stress recently.
08:41Was he?
08:42Mm-hmm.
08:43Charity slept with Mackenzie the day of the women's christening.
08:46Yeah.
08:47How could you?
08:48I think she just had to.
08:49There's always been chemistry, and there was a moment that came between them.
08:54And before you know it, you guys fell off.
08:56My hands fell off.
08:57They just accidentally fell off.
08:59Chloe's found out that they had rekindled their romance, for want of a better phrase,
09:05but they don't know that Chloe knows.
09:08So we've all got that tension boiling underneath as well in this car journey.
09:12But the beauty of that is you've got this great tapestry of dialogue going on,
09:16of, like, there's an underlying tone with Chloe,
09:19and everyone knows it's going to be like, ooh, my goodness.
09:22So Lisa's got to breathe now and again.
09:24Yeah.
09:25As long as you're not running away from anything.
09:28No, I can't think of anything we've been running away from.
09:31Can you?
09:32She does want to let them know that she knows and that she's not happy with it.
09:36She's not a girl at all lately.
09:38We will be leaving a lot of bad memories behind.
09:42Yep.
09:43What do you think's in Mackenzie's mind at this point?
09:46I mean, does he, does he think it's all over with Charity now?
09:49Yes, I think he does.
09:51He's fully intent on starting a new life up in Scotland,
09:55with Chloe and his son.
09:57But with everyone in the car distracted,
09:59things seem to take a devastating turn for the worse,
10:01leaving the people at the edge of a cliff and Mack with an impossible choice.
10:06There is a moment when he has to make up his mind really, really quickly,
10:10but it isn't a car that seems to be dangling off the edge of a cliff.
10:12There's two women in there.
10:14He's only able to save one.
10:16Yeah, it's like a cross between Sophie's Choice and the Italian job, isn't it?
10:20Which one do you think he loves more?
10:23Of course he has to say Charity.
10:26Chloe's got the child, you know, he can't not save the mother of his child, surely?
10:31I think with the rolling cart, the choice, everything going on,
10:35it'll be a big cliffhanger, I think.
10:37Is that a clue?
10:39Maybe!
10:41Bringing a big sum of edges to our televisions
10:43takes a lot of planning and hard work from the talented crew.
10:46Can you tell me why we've got the tractor in the field over there with a big hook?
10:49Yeah, this is one of the parts of our car crash.
10:53So we've got our hero car, which is pulled by this big on cable, attached to the tractor,
10:59and the pistons, which have about 28 tons of force, will drag it through this wall
11:04and hopefully land somewhere where we can see it in shot.
11:07What's the technical term? I'm calling it the washing machine.
11:09That's the best name for it. I call it the tumble dryer.
11:13Tumble dryer.
11:14So there's a machine there, so we know they're going to be rolling over and over.
11:17Is this car, then, going to roll over?
11:19Yeah, this is the wide shop, which will effectively, you'll see that element happen,
11:23and then we'll jump inside the car to see Charity, Chloe and Mac as their impact.
11:27It looks very cool. I can't wait.
11:29So you're looking, literally, that's not as comfortable. That's good for you.
11:44Please show the plane out.
