Judge prohibits pro-Palestine march to Sydney Opera House

00:00But I also just speak about the decision of the Supreme Court in relation to the protests at the

00:04Sinti Opera House. Can I just say, I think it's the right decision. I'm glad that common sense

00:09has prevailed here. I know that there's been many Palestinian action group protests over the last

00:14two years. In fairness, the vast majority of them have gone off without incident. We're calling for

00:19the organisers to do the same if they elect an alternative group to work with the South Wales

00:25police. But it's very important and very free for this judgment. And that protest should take place

00:30down at the Sinti Opera House. We'll be taking place on Sunday, October 12th at 1pm from Hyde Park with a

00:36negotiated route with the police. We'll be marching through the city down George Street. We're going

00:41to fill George Street with people demanding an end to this genocide. And we'll also be calling on that

00:47day for Chris Bins to light up the Opera House in the colours of the Palestinian flag.

00:51We've heard a lot about how the Opera House forecourt can only hold no more than 6,000 people. While

00:5919,000 Palestinian children have been killed by the Israeli military in the last two years,

01:05it is time for our government to show that it stands on the side of those people who've lost

01:10their lives to this horrific genocide. Experts with the police plan these things so we don't get crowd

01:16cautious. And that's what it's all about for us. It's public safety. While we need time to plan and work

01:21with people, by and large, we're able to do that day in and day out. I think we do over 1500 of them

01:27a year in the city alone. But the cul-de-sac, the peninsula that it was on, the ingress and egress

01:34routes, they gave me great concern of a crowd crush. And for those reasons, that's what it took to the

01:41place to be here. And for that day, we're going to find out about the Chinese people. But the
