India Today spoke to Muskan Sharma and Pooja Gupta, the winners of the Miss Rishikesh pageant, about their brave stand against moral policing and societal pressures.

00:14that objected to their clothes during Ms. Rishikesh rehearsals.

00:22But after telling the men off on what Indian culture truly is,

00:25we are wearing our clothes and we are wearing our own clothes.

00:37And I also teach the girls that never to sit in front of us.

00:40We always need to raise our voices for ourselves.

00:43So I think you are no one asking me this question.

00:46If they were wrong, then we have to raise our voices for them.

00:49Our girls are supporting me. Our generation understands this.

00:53If you are right somewhere, please fight for your rights

00:56because no one else will step in and fight for you
