00:00French President Emmanuel Macron will name a new Prime Minister by Friday, according to the Élysée Palace.

00:10As outgoing, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu dismissed the possibility of parliamentary elections.

00:17During an interview with local media, Lecornu also ruled out his return to the premiership,

00:23but said he believes there's a way forward politically on certain conditions.

00:30I have an intimate conviction that the team that should take the responsibilities in the future,

00:37whatever it is, whatever the choice of the President of the Republic,

00:40will be an team that is completely disconnected from the presidential ambitions for 2027.

00:45While some of Macron's former allies have called on him to step down after passing the 2026 budget,

00:53Lecornu firmly rejected the idea.

00:55The Prime Minister resigned abruptly on Monday, after less than a month in office

01:00and less than 24 hours after naming a new government.

01:05The decision prompted the Republicans, a key coalition ally, to withdraw their support.
