The 6 Hours of Fuji marks a major milestone in the World Endurance Championship this coming weekend: The race in Japan will be the 100th since the FIA WEC’s debut at the start of the 2012 season. Porsche has competed at every round on the world’s premier endurance racing stage. Thanks to 21 outright victories and more than 50 class wins, the Stuttgart sports car manufacturer is among the most successful brands in the WEC.

Riding the momentum of the Porsche 963’s first overall win of the 2025 WEC season in Austin, Texas, the Porsche Penske Motorsport factory team heads into the penultimate round brimming with confidence. The squad has particularly fond memories of Japan: in 2024, Kévin Estre, Laurens Vanthoor and André Lotterer triumphed on Fuji’s Formula 1 circuit, securing their second win of the season and paving the way to the world championship crown. “We’re determined to build on that success and keep closing the gap in the manufacturers’ standings,” says Thomas Laudenbach, Vice President Porsche Motorsport.

The Porsche Penske Motorsport factory team will once again field two Porsche 963 prototypes. The number 5 car will be shared by Frenchman Julien Andlauer and his compatriot Mathieu Jaminet, who replaces Danish driver Michael Christensen. In the sister car, French driver Kévin Estre joins forces with Belgium’s Laurens Vanthoor. The Proton Competition customer outfit will also tackle the top Hypercar class with an identical hybrid prototype. In the LMGT3 category, Manthey 1st Phorm aims to take another step towards the title with the Porsche 911 GT3 R, while the Iron Dames are targeting their first podium finish of the season in another 911.

00:21The oil has gone.
00:23It's done. It's over.
00:30Well, it was first hit. It was quite long already.
00:36The car is nice to drive. We push.
00:42Still a long way to go.
00:44Cannot believe that nothing will happen until the end, so we will see.
00:492.40 in the morning now. Unfortunately, we had some suspension damage in the front.
01:04We have to retire the car. Very unfortunate.
01:07The car is really good. We are quite satisfied with the handling.
01:18We had a big gap to the front early in the race, but we came back overnight.
01:22It's a proper race. That's what we all want. This is why the spectators are here.
01:27The day starts and Neil is getting in the car. Romain is now in the car.
01:31And then Neil tried to make a gap and tried to win this bloody race.
01:36Fantastic cars on a fantastic circuit. And it's over 24 hours.
01:47Final stretch. We've run in the top three the whole race.
01:50Changed positions with the Ferrari in the front.
01:52We're splitting two Ferraris at the moment in second,
01:54and we're just going to try to push forward for a podium finish.
02:06The 88 car. I'm glad they got on the podium.
02:09They had a tough run last year, and they deserve it.
02:11I feel that they were going to have a good run at the beginning,
02:13and he was very, very focused and determined.
02:15So I'm really happy for them.
02:17I just made their last stop, obviously.
02:22It'll be a long stint for Neil, but yeah,
02:24I think Toyota are in the driving seat at the moment.
02:26Unfortunately.
02:27Need a bit of luck.
02:29We desperately need to try and get a Porsche on the top 10.
02:59I was running slower. We didn't know why.
03:19I was thinking that he was waiting for the last lap.
03:22Yeah, we are very lucky.
03:26It's so exciting up to the last minute, and we can't believe it.
03:31We're so happy.
03:33I have no words at the moment. Sorry.
03:36Nothing to say. It's just unreal.
03:39I mean, to win this in the last lap, it's crazy. It's crazy.
03:52We're like, what's up.
03:53You never have to wait until you get out of the car.
03:54Yeah, it's crazy.
03:55I'm pretty sure.
03:56I'm like, we're not really good.
03:57I have to wait until that one person works.
03:59It's crazy.
04:01I have a good one.
04:02I already have to wait until the next lap.
04:04I'm going to have to wait until you start.
04:05Okay, here's a good one.
04:06Alright.
04:07That's good.
04:08We're going to have a esf д, this.
04:09If you're going to have a little bit of a rồi.
04:11If you go to the next lap, it's a little bit,
04:13that's a little bit easier.
04:15The next lap is going to make it as well.
04:17I see what you can do,
