00:00Sometimes people that live in these beautiful neighborhoods think crime doesn't occur in
00:12their cities because they're just so wealthy. But crime does not have a zip code.
00:20Sergeant Sandra Brown, Palo Alto Police Department. I spent my career investigating major crimes in
00:26Silicon Valley. Like the case of Keith Green and Tiffany Lee. Money and power played a huge role
00:35in what happened here. She was the heiress of wealth. Bankrolling this whole lifestyle.
00:43And there had been threats.
00:47A murder trial involving a real estate heiress and an alleged love triangle.
00:52When the SWAT team hit this 7,000 square foot, $7 million mansion in the middle of Hillsboro,
01:00it was shocking. Not only to Hillsboro, it was shocking to the world.
01:04The story starts in Northwest San Mateo.
01:06The story starts in Northwest San Mateo.
01:11The story starts in Northwest San Mateo. Keith Green was born in 1988 to a single mom.
01:36Keith's just grew up normal working class with his mom. He was a popular kid,
01:44athlete, the one all the girls wanted.
01:47Everywhere we went, he definitely was turning heads. He was a charmer. He was the type of person
01:56that could just spark a conversation with just the person standing next to him.
02:00He was very kind, very nice guy. He always came off as very pleasant, very friendly, very generous.
02:08He was very sociable. Everybody liked Keith.
02:15As a kid growing up in Northwest San Mateo, it's sort of a middle class working community.
02:21But it's surrounded by other little cities that are well-to-do, very wealthy.
02:27And it's right adjacent to Hillsboro, which is the fifth most wealthiest town in the United States of America.
02:36I would say Silicon Valley has its fair share of one percenters.
02:41And those one percenters are so far beyond the spectrum of what you think is attainable in life.
02:51I mean, these people are driving the fanciest cars, living in these huge houses.
02:57Out of all the towns in Silicon Valley, Hillsboro has a higher concentration of the one percenters.
03:03The people who are living there, it's all tech money.
03:05Living in that area, surrounded by all that wealth and all that status,
03:11you can see the difference in the way people live.
03:15Keith Green wanted that tech-bro lifestyle.
03:22In 2009, Keith meets Tiffany Lee, who's from Hillsboro.
03:27They were introduced by a mutual friend.
03:30Tiffany and Keith's upbringing were completely different.
03:33Tiffany comes from a very wealthy family.
03:38They have a huge real estate empire in China.
03:43In the early 1990s, Tiffany Lee and her family came from Hong Kong to Silicon Valley
03:47to take advantage of the rising real estate costs.
03:53I started buying property throughout Silicon Valley.
03:56Tiffany was a beautiful, young, 30-something Chinese immigrant
04:07with a lot of real estate holdings in Silicon Valley and in Hillsboro.
04:14She was the heiress of wealth.
04:18Tiffany's family, they weren't just rich.
04:21Like, they were very wealthy, you know?
04:23More than wealthy, in my opinion.
04:25I mean, her family had real estate all over the place, in the Bay Area.
04:32She was living in a mansion, and the mom would just wire her, you know,
04:36a lot of money during the month.
04:40And so she was kind of just living a lavish lifestyle, you know,
04:44being taken care of by nannies and chefs at her house.
04:46Her income was to apparently just collect rent checks, and that would be nice.
04:55I know when her and Keith started dating, it was just a lifestyle of him really not having to work,
05:02I guess you can say, and just having nice things.
05:06Tiffany and Keith's relationship is a classic story of opposites to try.
05:12She's a multi-million dollar heiress.
05:19So she introduces him to a world he's wanted to get into and has never been able to get into.
05:25He's in Silicon Valley now.
05:27He's going to all these get-togethers and meeting people.
05:30He's traveling to Dubai.
05:32He's going to the Maldives.
05:33He's going to Hong Kong.
05:34So this young man from the other side of the tracks is living that tech bro life right now with Tiffany Lee.
05:45So they fall madly in love, and in 2012, Tiffany Lee and Keith Green have their first child.
05:54So Tiffany invites Keith into her mansion in Hillsboro, owned by her mother.
05:59Two years later, in 2014, Tiffany and Keith have another daughter.
06:06They weren't married, but that was okay.
06:08They were in love with each other.
06:10They had a nice little family.
06:13And from the outside looking in, everything looks wonderful.
06:17They were living the life.
06:20They're new parents, but Tiffany and Keith love to have fun.
06:24They would leave the girls home with the babysitters, and they would go out to clubs.
06:35So on one of these occasions, when Keith and Tiffany were out, Keith introduces to Tiffany his friend, Kaveh Bayek.
06:46Keith and Kaveh kind of just met each other from being out with mutual friends.
06:50And I think he was more of a friend that, when they would go out, whether it was to a nightclub or bars and stuff like that,
06:58he would hang out with him in those type of scenes.
07:02Here's Keith Green.
07:03He's very attractive.
07:05He's very popular.
07:06Keith Green's a good kid.
07:08But it turns out Tiffany Lee's got the bad boy streak.
07:12She's looking for that bad boy.
07:13And when Tiffany Lee meets Kaveh, Tiffany's attraction to bad boys takes hold.
07:25So in October of 2015, barely a month after Tiffany Lee and Kaveh Bayek meet,
07:32Keith and Tiffany were going through a tough patch in their relationship.
07:36Her and Keith sometimes would have, like, a hard time communicating with each other.
07:40He just said they had their differences.
07:43It was never anything specific that he told me.
07:46Keith then found out that Tiffany was cheating on him with Kaveh Bayek.
07:54Keith finds out about this affair with Kaveh Bayek because he sees Tiffany's car parked in front of Kaveh's house.
08:05Keith takes a picture of Tiffany's car parked in front of Kaveh's.
08:09In Keith's mind, Tiffany's over there cheating on him with Kaveh.
08:15Keith confronts Tiffany about this.
08:20They get into it over text, and then she eventually says to him,
08:23I love Kaveh, and I'm going to leave you, and I'm going to take the kids, and you're never going to see them again.
08:31She kicks Keith out of the mansion.
08:33And she moves Kaveh Bayek into the mansion shortly after.
08:38So Keith's now got to figure out a way to take care of himself, as well as his daughters.
08:47When they first broke up, Tiffany had custody of the kids, and there were, like, supervised visits for Keith.
08:54The conversations just couldn't be civil anymore, and Tiffany's starting to record the conversations between the two of them.
09:03I'm saying to you, we both made mistakes, and that's that.
09:07You know, let's just move on.
09:08There's nothing I can say right now.
09:09It's very easy for you to sit here and say whatever you want to say, because your life has not changed at all.
09:15The only thing that's different is that you have a new man that you sleep next to at night.
09:19That's it.
09:19I'm very happy.
09:20Aren't you happy that I'm happy?
09:22So beginning in October of 2015, Keith and Tiffany start negotiating over the terms of some sort of separation agreement.
09:37He moved into a one-bedroom apartment, living with one of his mother's friends in Millbrae, where they were going to have to all share a room when they were with Daddy.
09:47And when they were with Mommy, they were in the 10-bedroom Hillsboro Mansion.
09:50And so naturally, like most of us would, Keith asked Tiffany for some money so that he could give the girls a similar standard of living when they were visiting him.
10:00And during the course of those negotiations is when Tiffany really took offense that she thought Keith was asking for too much.
10:08Now there's a contentious custody battle.
10:15So this goes on and on.
10:18He also starts dating a new woman, Cynthia Pinto, at the same time.
10:22We were out at a bar.
10:25He and I kind of made eye contact with each other.
10:28As the night went on, we kind of just made our way towards each other, and he struck a conversation up with me.
10:35During the time when he and I first started dating, I was the middle person for a lot of their conversations.
10:41She made it very known.
10:42He and I just can't communicate.
10:44And so that's kind of where I stepped in a lot of the time.
10:48For a long time, Tiffany wanted Keith to just sign off rights for the girls.
10:54She just didn't want anything to do with Keith.
10:56But the girls meant everything to him, and he was not willing to just sign off his rights.
11:09So eventually, Keith Green signs a settlement agreement, and he's going to have an unsupervised visit at the end of April, very soon.
11:18They text about her bringing a car seat over to him so that he's able to take the children for that unsupervised visit,
11:26and they plan to meet at the Millberry Pancake House so that he can get that car seat,
11:29and they can just sort of bury the hatchet about what has happened the last couple of months.
11:36I just woke up that morning just feeling off.
11:40Every morning, I would wake up to a good morning text from him, and that morning, I had nothing.
11:44I didn't want to believe it, but I just had that feeling like something just wasn't right.
11:59Keith was living with one of his mother's friends in Millberry.
12:02Keith had told his mother's friend, Angela Dunn, that he was going to meet Tiffany at the Millberry House of Pancakes.
12:08He was going to go across the street to pick up a car seat from Tiffany,
12:16who he was meeting because he was going to have the girls over the weekend, and he never returned.
12:22His mother's friend saw that Keith went to the meeting at the Pancake House without his wallet and without his car keys.
12:28The Millberry House of Pancakes was just across the street, and so when he didn't come home the next morning,
12:37Angela Dunn was very concerned about what had happened to Keith.
12:40So, at 9 in the morning on April 29th, Angela Dunn calls the sheriff's office to report Keith missing.
12:50The other thing she reports is that she called Keith's cell phone,
12:54and it was answered by a woman in San Francisco who said she found the cell phone on the ground at the Rose Garden in Golden Gate Park.
13:02The fact that his phone was just thrown on the side of the street, like, that was not like him.
13:08We knew something bad had happened.
13:19At the beginning, everyone kind of just made flyers.
13:22We were putting them, hanging them everywhere, just trying to get awareness out of there.
13:25I know we were making posts on Instagram, having, you know, having people tag it.
13:30I remember hearing about it on the radio, saying, you know, your family and friends miss you.
13:35Like, if you hear this, like, you know, just come home.
13:38It was everywhere, on the news and Facebook, everywhere everybody knew.
13:45And friends had organized search parties.
13:49We didn't know where he was, but somehow his phone was in San Francisco,
13:53so I know there was a search party in the park.
13:54So people were looking over in Millbrae, where he lived, in South San Francisco, in the park, everywhere.
14:07I remember going to the Pancake House and trying to canvas the area and, like,
14:14okay, like, there's a camera here, there's a camera there.
14:17Like, someone had had to pick something up.
14:19Police have Keith's cell phone.
14:27Now, the cell phone data is very important.
14:30But at this point, all we know is that Keith Green's been missing since the previous night.
14:35So the police, knowing that Tiffany Lee was the last person to talk to Keith Green at the Pancake House,
14:41they want to know what he said, what was the conversation about, and what happened.
14:44Investigators go to Tiffany's house on the evening of April 29th,
14:51and Tiffany admitted that they met up at the Pancake House to discuss custody issues,
14:57and also for Keith to get some car seats from Tiffany.
15:02But Tiffany tells investigators that after that meeting,
15:06Keith got out of the car and went home, and Tiffany went home.
15:09Five days after Keith Green has been missing,
15:30unbeknownst to Tiffany, the police recovered Keith's cell phone data,
15:34and something's not adding up.
15:36Detectives bring Tiffany Lee into their office to interview her.
15:47And once again, Tiffany tells the detectives that she met Keith Green at the Pancake House after 10 p.m.
15:56She gave him the car seat, and they had a heart-to-heart conversation about their custody of their children.
16:01She tells the detective that their conversation ended on a hopeful note.
16:06He got out of the car, and she drove away.
16:08She left him in the parking lot.
16:14She tells police she hasn't seen or heard from Keith since that night.
16:18The police dropped a bombshell.
16:21They had data showing that his phone had connected to the Wi-Fi at Tiffany's house.
16:26At about 10.45 p.m. the night he disappeared.
16:31So about a half hour after Tiffany said, she left him at the Millbrae Pancake House.
16:36Someone's cell phone does not connect to someone's Wi-Fi unless that person is there.
17:00How's his phone connecting to your house if you're claiming he wasn't there with you?
17:03Five days after Keith Green has been missing, detectives bring Tiffany Lee into their office to interview her.
17:27She was the last person to see Keith Green.
17:29Tiffany tells police she hasn't seen or heard from Keith since that night.
17:39Unbeknownst to Tiffany, the police recovered Keith's cell phone data, and his cell phone is shown going to her home, and it's attaching to the Wi-Fi.
17:49But if they thought that they were going to crack Tiffany Lee with this story with the cell phone, they were mistaken.
17:54She was very calm.
17:55She adamantly denied that Keith came to her house that night.
18:09She tells the detectives, I don't have a motive to hurt Keith.
18:14We have a custody agreement finally.
18:17I'm with Kaveh.
18:18He's with Cynthia.
18:20We've decided to move on.
18:21However, Tiffany does offer up to the police that she has some idea of who may have hurt Keith, and she has several names that she wants to give to them.
18:30She told one of the investigating officers that he was in a biker gang, and perhaps the biker gang had kidnapped him.
18:38At some point, she intimated that maybe it was a jealous husband that had kidnapped him.
18:44The theories I had heard were just laughable.
18:52I had never heard of anything like that, and if no one had heard of that, if you knew Keith, you'd be like, no.
18:57I think there were just distractions to paint a different narrative.
19:01For a person who claims to be innocent, she sure is trying to lead the police in another direction.
19:09She's throwing up all this other information.
19:11That alone makes me very suspicious of her.
19:16If you are really distraught at a loss, all you're thinking about is how I'm going to tell my family how I'm going to go forward.
19:22You're not thinking other things that Tiffany Lee was thinking of.
19:25I think everyone at that point already had come to the acceptance that we knew Keith was gone.
19:33It was more so, let's find a body so that we can get him justice.
19:47Two weeks after Keith Green's disappearance, the body of a male is found 75 miles north of San Mateo.
19:55The body was located in Hillsburg in a field off the side of the road.
20:11I didn't want to believe it, but I just had that feeling.
20:15And so when the articles came out saying that they had found a body that was more than half decomposed,
20:25the article didn't say who it was.
20:27They said they had to wait for dental records to be released.
20:30But amongst the friends of us, we were sending the article and we're like, that's him.
20:37The autopsy reveals that the body that was discovered is indeed Keith Green.
20:41According to the medical examiner, Keith was shot one time through the mouth.
20:54It was an intraoral gunshot wound.
20:56That was the cause of death.
20:58Keith also had a chipped tooth that was chipped from the inside out.
21:01So the theory was that there was a 9mm semi-autic pistol that was placed into Keith's mouth.
21:07The trigger was pulled once and the kickback from that gunshot chipped Keith's tooth.
21:12During the investigation, when crime scene went through, they searched that entire area.
21:24They did not find a shell casing.
21:25They did not find a bullet.
21:27They did not find a lot of blood.
21:28So it looks like Keith was not shot and killed there.
21:33So now they're trying to figure out where did this crime occur.
21:35And they're thinking it occurred back in Silicon Valley.
21:38You have an ex-girlfriend who is the last person to see him, but we don't have a crime scene.
21:50We don't know where this crime occurred.
21:52Someone being shot through the mouth, out of the back of the neck, there's going to be a lot of blood.
21:56Where did this crime take place?
21:57So the police went back to this parking lot where Keith and Tiffany met and collected all the surveillance videos.
22:09They wanted to collect all that information and go through everything.
22:13After scouring through all the surveillance tapes, police saw, obviously, Tiffany Lee's G-Wagon leaving the parking lot.
22:21But surprise, surprise, they also observed a gray Chrysler 300 driving behind her G-Wagon, leaving the parking lot.
22:30Investigators also contacted the Golden Gate Bridge, and they asked for video footage of any vehicles that crossed over the Golden Gate Bridge in this particular five-hour window.
22:40And they got still shots of the Chrysler 300 crossing over the Golden Gate Bridge at precisely the same time that Keith's body was being dumped.
22:51After researching and tracking that suspicious vehicle, they find out that it comes back to a man named Olivier Adela.
23:03He was an immigrant from West Africa who came here, became a personal trainer, and was living in the Bay Area, and had a beautiful wife and a child, and was living the American dream.
23:15Around November of 2015, he met Kaveh Byatt, who's Tiffany Lee's new boyfriend, and Kaveh promised Adela riches.
23:27He offered him a six-figure income to work as his bodyguard.
23:32So investigators are now looking at Olivier Adela as the possible murderer, but here's two questions.
23:37You know, when you're living in Silicon Valley, and there was so much wealth in this area, I think some people can be tempted to take opportunities that are too good to be true, and Kaveh seemed to have groomed Adela.
23:57Before Keith went missing, there had been threats between Kaveh and Kaveh at that time.
24:06So when Kaveh was talking to Kaveh, Kaveh wanted me to record the conversations.
24:12One of the recordings, Kaveh had said, you know, he had $100,000 for whoever put the bullet to Kaveh's head.
24:18Before Keith went missing, there had been threats that were made.
24:31Keith just, I think, thought that, you know, Kaveh was just speaking out of anger, that nothing was ever going to be done.
24:38But when his body was found, I just couldn't wrap my mind of thinking any other logical explanation that could have happened to him.
24:49As soon as Keith moved out, Kaveh seemed to move in, and that lavish lifestyle was now something that Kaveh was experiencing.
24:57And I think that he may have been threatened that at the end of the day, at any time, her and Kaveh could rekindle.
25:03I mean, they had two daughters, you know, there is always that chance.
25:06And I think Kaveh really was frightened by that, maybe a little intimidated about that.
25:12And he did not want that to happen.
25:15If they rekindle, that means that lavish lifestyle he's now living goes away.
25:20I think that's why he pushed really hard to try and keep Keith away from Tiffany as much as possible.
25:27But I never met Olivier.
25:29I never even knew he existed.
25:31He said, I don't know why he would want to murder Keith.
25:41After police impound Adela's car, they search for evidence, but they still have a lot of questions.
25:50There's no evidence that Keith Green was shot in the trunk of that car.
25:56But they do find a small amount of blood in the back of the trunk.
25:59And they also find a small amount of blood on the handle on the rear door.
26:07Although the blood from the trunk and from the handle on the inside of the back seat is too degraded,
26:12and they can't get any DNA off of it,
26:15it does bring up a clear story that Olivier was involved in this murder.
26:18Not only did they find all this evidence that the Chrysler 300 belonging to Adela was involved,
26:29there was also a receipt for a burner phone inside of Adela's car.
26:34So when the police did a search warrant on the phone records for that burner phone,
26:38they figured out that Cave Bayat and Olivier Adela were communicating with each other using burner phones.
26:45They also found that Olivier's personal cell phone on the night that Keith disappeared,
26:56moved through the Rose Garden, right where Keith Green's phone was found the next morning,
27:02crossed the Golden Gate Bridge, and then came back to 1800 Truesdale,
27:06the building that Adela had been renting an apartment.
27:09When I found out that Cave Bayat and Olivier Adela were using burner phones,
27:17I'm, to be honest with you, guilty.
27:20That's the first thing that came to my mind.
27:21These guys are involved in some type of crime, and they're using burner phones,
27:25and not their own personal phones, which can be tracked back to them.
27:29I'm thinking they're involved in the disappearance of Keith Green.
27:34If you're Olivier Adela, why would you be buying burner phones?
27:39And guess what?
27:41Who owns a building that Olivier Adela lives in?
27:45Tiffany Lee.
27:50There's a mountain of evidence showing that Adela is involved in the scheme to get rid of Keith.
27:57But then there's also a mountain of circumstantial evidence which connects Tiffany and Cave to Adela.
28:04On May 20th, Olivier Adela is arrested by the police.
28:13They search Adela's apartment.
28:15They find a lunchbox that contains a diamond watch that belonged to Keith Green
28:19and thousands and thousands of dollars in cash.
28:22But there's not enough evidence to tie Olivier to the murder itself.
28:29We still don't know where that happened.
28:33Still, police are certain that Olivier Adela did not act alone.
28:38The following day, on the morning of May 21st, 2016,
28:44SWAT team enters Tiffany Lee's mansion in Hillsboro.
28:52They search Tiffany Lee's G-Wagon in the garage.
29:08They find nothing.
29:11They don't have a murder scene.
29:12They don't have a murder weapon.
29:14However, when police search the mansion,
29:17they find what they believe is Cave's man cave.
29:20And what they locate inside his man cave
29:22appeared to be Keith Green's shoes on the mantle.
29:27Possibly the last shoes he was wearing.
29:33When Angela Dunn called the sheriff's office on the 29th to report Keith missing,
29:37she said that he was wearing a distinctive pair of Nike basketball shoes.
29:42Size 10 and a half.
29:45There were about 30 pairs of shoes in the man cave.
29:48There was one pair of shoes that was size 10 and a half.
29:51And it was a distinctive pair of pink Nike basketball shoes.
29:55So some people could interpret that as
29:58they had taken Keith's shoes as some sort of trophy.
30:04After police searched the mansion,
30:06they've taken Tiffany Lee and Cabe Bayette into custody.
30:12In the green house, it was a trap.
30:18When I heard that Tiffany and Cabe Bayette got arrested at her mansion,
30:22I had a sense of relief.
30:23I felt that my gut this whole time had told me that something was off there.
30:29And so by them being arrested,
30:31I felt that the police had some type of evidence to obviously arrest them.
30:36And so I was hopeful that, you know, justice was going to be served.
30:43Three weeks after Keith Green's body is located,
30:46what do the police have?
30:51They have Cabe Bayette,
30:53they have Olivier Adela,
30:54and they have Tiffany Lee all in jail.
30:58They have parts and pieces of evidence,
31:01but none of it is hooked up.
31:02You have part A, part B, part C, part D, E, F, G, H, I, J,
31:06but you don't have a string leading all those parts together.
31:09And all three of them are maintaining their innocence.
31:14At some point in all of this,
31:16Olivier Adela makes an appointment with a reporter,
31:20and he tells this reporter the most shocking story.
31:23So they pull off the car,
31:27the cabin was on the back seat,
31:28Tiffany was on the front seat,
31:29and Tiffany was on the front seat.
31:32Bye.
31:39The story that Olivier laid out was that Olivier was living at 1800 Truesdale,
32:04which is an apartment building owned by the Lee family.
32:07And on the night of April 28th,
32:10he was at 1800 Truesdale.
32:13Tiffany comes back to 1800 Truesdale,
32:16driving her Mercedes G-Wagon.
32:19Cabe Bayette is in the car,
32:20and according to Olivier,
32:22Keith's dead body is also in the car.
32:27Cabe tells Olivier,
32:29we need you to dump this body,
32:31and he shows this black pistol in his pocket.
32:35Olivier's a little nervous.
32:36He's damned if he doesn't,
32:37he's damned if he doesn't.
32:39What he understands is,
32:40I got to take this body and get rid of it,
32:42or else I'm going to be killed.
32:46He took the dead body from the G-Wagon,
32:49put it into his own car,
32:51which was a Chrysler 300,
32:53and then drove the body up to Healdsburg
32:55and dumped it in the field.
33:01Under California law,
33:02that is not a murder
33:03because the body was already dead when he dumped it.
33:06So the district attorney's office
33:08got into a pretrial plea deal with Adela
33:12where he pled to an accessory after the fact
33:14in exchange for honest testimony at the criminal trial.
33:18against Tiffany and Cabe.
33:23The prosecutors call it a custody battle
33:25that ended in murder.
33:27This was one of the biggest cases in the South Bay.
33:30A murder trial involving a real estate heiress
33:32and an alleged love triangle.
33:35It had murder,
33:36it had a lot of the salacious elements
33:38that make the press,
33:39and then on top of that,
33:40it had a ton of money involved into it.
33:41I think the media really latched onto the case
33:47just because of the amount of wealth involved
33:50with the person who was accused.
33:55Then on top of that,
33:57you know, Tiffany was in custody,
33:59and the judge set bail at $35 million,
34:03and she posted it using real estate.
34:06And under California law,
34:08when you post bail using real property,
34:10you have to put up twice the value of the bail.
34:13So her family put up $70 million worth of real estate
34:17in order for her to get out of custody
34:19pending the jury trial.
34:22Tiffany Lee just posted
34:23one of the highest bail amounts in history.
34:26I can't remember ever hearing about
34:28an eight-figure bail that somebody made,
34:32let alone for $70 million.
34:34The suspect is expected to walk out of jail
34:37any minute now.
34:40Tiffany went home.
34:45She was out of custody pending the jury trial,
34:48and there were no clear answers about how Keith died.
34:53Many of these details of the death of Keith Green
34:55remain frustratingly a mystery.
34:58This is the case that we have.
35:04We have three people involved in this case.
35:07We have a dead body.
35:10He has a chipped tooth,
35:12and he has a blowout at the back of his neck.
35:15We never found a bullet.
35:16We never found the location where it occurred.
35:18We never found a shell casing.
35:19The investigators continue their investigation,
35:23and they uncover text between Kaveh and Tiffany Lee.
35:28There's a text conversation where Kaveh is telling Tiffany,
35:31Keith just is trying to get more money,
35:33doesn't care about the girls.
35:34What a snake.
35:36And then Tiffany says, okay, green light.
35:42Investigators look at that text,
35:43and they think that is the terminology to say,
35:46go ahead, kill him.
35:50So the prosecutor decides to go with that story
35:53that Olivier gave.
35:56In this case, the evidence was circumstantial evidence.
36:02But many people have been convicted
36:05on circumstantial evidence.
36:09Circumstantial evidence can be very powerful.
36:11Even though there wasn't direct evidence
36:19that Tiffany was involved,
36:21when we went to trial,
36:22I definitely was convinced
36:23that she would be found guilty.
36:26The prosecution had to prove
36:28that Tiffany Lee and her co-conspirators
36:30intended to kill Keith beyond a reasonable doubt,
36:33which is a very high burden of proof.
36:37When the jury came out with the verdict,
36:39it was a shock to everyone.
36:44Jurors today found Tiffany Lee not guilty
36:47of plotting to kill her ex-boyfriend,
36:49who was also the father of their children.
36:56Calls for justice for the victim may go unanswered.
37:01You know, there was rumors
37:03that she paid off the jurors,
37:05and that she paid off the judge,
37:06and I don't know.
37:09It just doesn't make sense
37:10how she's not guilty.
37:13It's very difficult
37:14to convict somebody of murder
37:17or conspiracy to commit murder.
37:19The forensic evidence
37:20just did not back up Adela's story
37:23that Keith had already been dead
37:25at the time that he first saw him
37:28at 1800 Trewsdale.
37:29Tiffany was acquitted,
37:33and there was a hung jury for Cave,
37:35and they decided not to retry him.
37:37There was one other defendant in this case,
37:40Oliver Adela.
37:41He admitted to disposing of the body,
37:43but the district attorney
37:44does not plan any new charges for him.
37:47The only person who spent time in jail
37:50was Adela,
37:51and his time was very short.
37:54I just felt that there was just
37:56no justice served here.
37:58There was no justice for his murder.
38:03She orchestrated all of this.
38:07I knew her for six years.
38:08She was evil.
38:11This case is very similar
38:12to O.J. and Nicole Brown Simpson's case.
38:16And Keith Green's mother
38:18has another avenue
38:19to hold someone accountable
38:21for Keith Green's death.
38:23So Colleen Cutt is Keith Green's mother.
38:26She approached our law firm
38:27about filing a wrongful death lawsuit
38:29against Tiffany Lee
38:31on behalf of the two children.
38:33In our civil case,
38:35we didn't need to prove
38:36how or why Keith died.
38:38We just wanted to prove
38:40that Tiffany Lee
38:41is the one that set it in motion.
38:42to have him killed.
38:44Eventually, we were offered
38:46a settlement from Tiffany Lee
38:48that we felt like
38:50was in the best interest
38:51of the children,
38:52and we took it.
38:55For Keith Green
38:57and Tiffany Lee's children,
38:58once they turn 18,
39:00they will be informed
39:01that they have full access
39:02to $5 million plus interest each.
39:05That will give them
39:06the freedom
39:08to not only do
39:09what they want in their lives
39:10and pursue the careers
39:11that they want to do,
39:12but it will also give them
39:14the ability to figure out
39:15what happened to their father,
39:16and that will be justice.
39:20He always talked about his kids
39:21and always, you know,
39:24trying to make people smile.
39:25He loved to have gatherings.
39:28He was an amazing cook.
39:29Like, he could just whip up
39:30anything from nothing.
39:32That is definitely
39:33something that I miss.
39:35He was a great guy
39:36and everybody loved him.
39:37The community came together for him.
39:39This is something
39:40that will stay with me forever.
39:42You know, I remember one night
39:43I just sat in my room
39:44and cried
39:44because it was just,
39:46it's so sad.
39:47I mean, it was definitely
39:50one of the hardest things
39:51I've ever experienced in life.
39:54You know, he was special
39:55and he always brought
40:00a smile to my life.
40:03He made me feel beautiful,
40:05just who he was as a person.
40:08We could just be doing nothing,
40:10but it was always good memories,
40:12you know.
40:12Good memories are left.
40:14Money and power played
40:19a huge role
40:20in what happened here.
40:23From the beginning,
40:24Tiffany was able
40:25to control Keith
40:25and then she was able
40:27to move people
40:28in and out of her life
40:28based on the money
40:29that she had.
40:30Without that,
40:31she would just be
40:31in another volatile relationship
40:33in her 20s.
40:35When you have
40:35an exorbitant amount
40:36of money and power,
40:38the consequences
40:39of your behavior
40:40are so much more severe
40:41and that is
40:43clear in this case.
40:46As horrendous as this case is
40:48and was,
40:49thinking about Keith...
