00:00We have a place of honor for you to sit, which is a tremendous interest in physics of all
00:15kind. And within half a minute, I learned that I had won a share of this Nobel Prize,
00:22along with Michelle Devere and John Martinez. I was absolutely stunned. It never occurred to me in my entire life that I would win a prize like this.
00:35And I really appreciate you showing up.
00:40But I can only say that, again, that the fact that I won this prize was due to all their very hard work, but also their brilliance.
00:57I mean, two extraordinarily brilliant people who I'm very proud to have had in my career.
01:10Most of you are familiar with the fact that Jones had a number of illustrious protégés at Berkeley given the progress we've been making
01:29a tremendous figure in our department since the late 1960s. He's not only a fantastic researcher, he was also a marvelous educator.
01:44And as he pointed out in the press conference today, he taught every semester while he was doing this groundbreaking work.
01:53He was tremendously committed to education and helped to ensure that his field expresses.
