00:00This is the last effort that Magnussen is going to get.

00:04Currently Plumblast looking for an improvement, he'll get it, but only to 17th position.

00:09So he falls at the first hurdle. Bottas improves his time, he goes up to 11th.

00:13We look at Liam Lawson about to cut the beam. Lawson just misses out.

00:17He improved his time, but not his position.

00:19Hülkenberg and Stroll are still improving.

00:22Joe's not on a great lap, but he's currently last.

00:24So it looks like Joe's going to go out and he does go out at the back of the field.

00:27Hülkenberg to ninth. So Hülkenberg out qualifies his teammate and takes the head to head record 12 times this year.

00:34He's been the lead house. Here's Stroll.

00:36Is Albin or Sargent or Stroll? Hamilton's only 14th. Hamilton might yet be in trouble if Albin and Stroll both improve here.

00:44Albin has never been out qualified by Logan Sargent in his time in Formula One as his teammate.

00:49Stroll goes over the line. It's only 17th, four races in a row.

00:53He's out in Q1 and it's Russell up to fifth position. Ocon is in seventh place.

00:58Does Albin have a lap time good enough?

01:01It's Williams or Williams. One of them is going to go through.

01:04This would be huge if it was Sargent, but we're on board with Albin.

01:07One corner to go and he's improving so far.

01:10The only teammate yet to beat the other driver across the garage is Logan Sargent.

01:15Can Albin get there at the last? He can! And Alex Albin digs deep to continue the whitewash run.

01:23He's 15th. Sargent is out. Then it's Stroll, Lawson, Magnussen and Joe who go out in the first part of qualifying.

01:32It's not the Grand Prix, but Charles Leclerc is diving to the inside of Turn 1 like it was.

01:38Amazing pictures, but in the end compromising both of them.

01:41Yeah, Leclerc destroyed the one lap. That's okay.

01:44Yeah, he overtook, didn't he? It was a bit of a joke. He started right behind you.

01:48So a bit of misunderstanding which I'm sure they will discuss privately afterwards.

01:54Out of the car. Nowhere to hide in Formula One.

01:58And tough moments for the Canadian driver who's struggling to find the answers at the moment.

02:07This is Max Verstappen looking for a clean path ahead.

02:11Not finding it. Wonder what he made of it.

02:13I reckon we'll get radio in a couple of moments time to tell us.

02:22Whoa! And once again the Ferrari's getting racy like it's the Grand Prix.

02:28Okay, we are now seeing Max Verstappen top the times with the fastest first and third sectors.

02:34Over the line goes Sainz now. Where can the Ferrari drive?

02:37But it only ninth. Only ninth at the moment. 30 seconds to go.

02:41Perez is 10th and he's not on a great lap on his final flyer here.

02:45He's going to come out through the final corner anytime soon in the background if we hold with the shot.

02:50And Checo's got to find something here because he's now shuffled out to 11th.

02:55But Sainz goes to 10th.

02:58Trying to find his way through. And that is an improvement of time only for Sergio Perez who remains in ninth.

03:05So Sainz is gone. Sainz is out.

03:08Polsitter a few races ago. Race winner a couple of races ago.

03:12And he's 11th and he's out.

03:14Hulkenberg has had his time deleted as well. He is down to 15th.

03:18Tsunoda now comes across and he will get to 11th.

03:22But he will not make it through as well.

03:24So Sainz the big shock to fall at the second hurdle.

03:27And we've got improvements out there for plenty of drivers including Gasly who's just gone up to fourth position.

03:33Does anyone have a lap who's in the drop zone?

03:37We ask the question first of Esteban Ocon. Ocon at risk at the moment.

03:41That's a fine fifth place to book his place through into the next part of qualifying.

03:45So it's only Albon out there to try and improve.

03:48And he is improving slightly through the middle sector.

03:52Hamilton is improving as well, but he's already safely through in eighth.

03:55It's going to be Bottas or Albon I think.

03:58Perez. Perez has had his lap time deleted.

04:01He's in 13th position.

04:03Albon's off the road, but what a shock we're going to get here.

04:07Tsunoda is 11th, but Sainz is 12th from pole to 12th position in a couple of Grand Prix.

04:13And Sergio Perez finds himself out once again in the second part of qualifying along with Alex Albon and Nico Hulkenberg.

04:23That we always said with track limits so close we were going to get some shocks.

04:29And Sainz and Perez absolutely the stories of Q2.

04:33Oscar Piastri about to come over the line.

04:37He now takes the fastest time by 7 tenths of a second.

04:40Max Verstappen fastest in the first sector, not in the middle sector of the lap though.

04:45And he tries to find the fastest time around the circuit.

04:47He cuts the beam and he's 7 tenths of a second clear of Oscar Piastri.

04:52That first sector he's just done is huge.

04:55He's half a second clear of Piastri in the first sector.

04:58That's where he's really hooked it up.

05:00Middle part was okay.

05:01And then again hooked it up in the final part.

05:03He's only 3 tenths up on what Norris did before Lando had his lap time deleted.

05:08As Hamilton, well half a second shy but marginally quicker than Russell.

05:13Leclerc now looking for a lap that's clean, that's within the white lines.

05:17It's good enough for fifth place for him.

05:21I'm sure for Norris he was over track limits.

05:24That's going to be tenth on the grid.

05:26From the high angle that we had, that looked like Lando Norris placed all four wheels over the white line.

05:32The driver, who didn't have a time on the board before, will hope that that wasn't the case.

05:37But it looked for all the world from that angle that it was.

05:39He comes over the line and he goes second fastest.

05:42But will he keep it with the chequered flag out?

05:45Max Verstappen has returned to the pits.

05:47Can anyone find a lap to displace him?

05:49I suspect the answer's no.

05:51And we've got an inter Mercedes battle as well.

05:53It could yet be for the front row because Lando Norris will be under review for that moment

05:58where he appeared to go over the white lines.

06:01Russell's going pretty quickly here out of the final corner driving to the line.

06:05Russell aiming to get past his teammate and he does so.

06:08Third place for Russell. Can Hamilton respond? No, he's bailed out of it.

06:12And now Oscar Piastri. Can he pick the pieces up for McLaren?

06:16No word from race control at the moment about Lando Norris.

06:19Can he join his teammate up there?

06:21It's another strong qualifying performance for Oscar Piastri who puts the McLaren ahead of Lewis Hamilton into fourth place.

06:29But guess who? He's already back in the pits. He didn't need a final run.

06:34Max Verstappen has taken his tenth poll of the season.

06:37Max Verstappen has taken his thirtieth career poll.

06:41And his first run good enough to beat Lando Norris' second.

06:45But did Norris keep it within the white lines?

06:49It's going to be defining whether it's him or George Russell on the front row for the Qatar Grand Prix.

06:56And there's the moment that it is official. Lando Norris' time deleted from the board as we expected.

07:04George Russell promoted to second and Oscar Piastri promoted to third as a result of that.

07:11So I think we're just hearing that you've had a track limit infringement. Is that accurate?

07:17Did you know that maybe something was under investigation for your track limits as well?

07:21I didn't know, but this is fun, isn't it?

07:23Oh gosh, it sounds like you may have been dropped down to sixth now, so...

07:42It's Max Verstappen, then George Russell on the front row, Lewis Hamilton is third,

07:46then it's Alonso in fourth, Charles Leclerc is fifth,

07:48Piastri goes back to his first run time, which was sixth,

07:50then it is Gasly ahead of Ocon, Bottas is ninth,

07:53and Lando Norris didn't get a clean time in the session.
