Transcript
00:00My name's Liam McAleen. Liam, tell me where we are and what's going to be happening here soon?
00:05So we are in Ireland Way in Waterlooville and we are doing a light show for Halloween in support of Men's Minds Matters.
00:14Tell me why you wanted to do this.
00:17So about a year ago, well actually on the 3rd of October last year, I suffered with sort of depression quite badly
00:24and I had to be pulled off of a motorway bridge to stop myself from ending my life basically by Waterlooville Police
00:30and ever since sort of that time, ever since I got myself better, I said to myself I want to do something for Men's Mental Health
00:35because the funding isn't there, it's not talked about, all sort of stuff like that
00:40and I sort of wanted to become a bit of an advocate for sort of Men's Mental Health.
00:43Tell me about this amazing light show.
00:46So it's got over 3,000 WS2811 addressable LEDs in it.
00:53Each AD is complete, has its own little chip in it so it can be completely addressed to its own little thing at its own little time.
01:00It's all synced up to a bunch of different control boards, all sort of synchronised to music
01:03and it will just follow sort of what I've told it's doing on the programme at that set given time in that song.
01:09Tell me how long has this taken you to set up?
01:12So it's taken me over seven months to wire everything, build everything, map everything to match my house basically.
01:20Nothing comes pre-made, I've had to sort of learn along the way and wire everything and make everything myself basically.
01:27Tell me what you think the reaction will be like when the light show goes live essentially.
01:31So we've already had quite a big reaction already on social media.
01:35Everyone that I know has said they're coming along and even people that aren't on social media that walk past and sort of see it during testing say they're going to come along.
01:44And so already the reaction is quite big so I imagine come Halloween we're going to be absolutely ramped.
01:49And just explain how you feel about putting this on yourself to where you were a year ago.
01:56You know you must be immensely proud of yourself for what you've achieved in the last year.
02:00I am to be fair, I am quite proud of myself.
02:02Unfortunately there's a lot of men that don't make it out with that rut that I was in.
02:06I was lucky enough to get myself out and now I want to speak for those men who unfortunately don't make out what I came out of.
