Brazil's Lula and Trump agree to meet in person after friendly call

U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday (October 06) that he had a "very good" telephone call with Brazil's President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva and that the two leaders would likely exchange visits in the near future.

00:14Speaking to reporters, Trump said he spoke to Lula briefly at the United Nations General Assembly, UNGA, in New York, and they like each other.

00:22Well, I had a great talk with the President of Brazil, who's a good man.

00:26And I met him actually at the United Nations. I was going up to make a speech and I didn't have a teleprompter.

00:30I was walking up to my teleprompter. I said, you know, I don't have a teleprompter.

00:36But just before that, I met with President Lula and I found him to be very good.

00:41I mean, we had a very good talk for about, you know, two minutes.

00:45And then I went up to make a speech and I was surprised to see, how would you like that one, Doug?

00:49I've got every leader in the world sitting out there. My teleprompter isn't on.

00:54You know why, Daniel? Because it was a rigged deal.

00:59But fortunately, I made a better speech than I would have if I read it off a teleprompter, which is pretty easy to do.

01:05So it was quite a day. That was a big day.

01:09But we met and we liked each other. And yeah, we had a great conversation.

01:13Yeah, we'll start doing business.

01:17At some point, I would. And he's going to come here. We talked about that.
