White House warns of 'tragic' consequences if Hamas does not accept Gaza plan

The White House warns on Oct. 3, 2025 of 'tragic consequences' if Hamas does not accept his proposal for Gaza. The plan specifies an immediate ceasefire, an exchange of all hostages held by Hamas for Palestinian prisoners held by Israel, a staged Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the disarmament of Hamas and the introduction of a transitional government led by an international body. US President Donald Trump gave Hamas until 6 p.m./2200 GMT on Oct. 5, 2025 to reach an agreement on his plan for Gaza's future, calling it a last chance for the Palestinian militant group. Trump first presented his plan to leaders and officials from Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Pakistan, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates, on the sidelines of last week's UN General Assembly. Hamas was not involved in the negotiations.

00:00A U.N. report found that Israel was committing genocide in Gaza.
00:02Does the president have concerns about the civilians being killed,
00:06the worsening humanitarian crisis,
00:07and are there limits to what the White House would support
00:10when it comes to Israel's actions in Gaza?
00:12Look, the president has deep concerns about all of the atrocities
00:16that have taken place in the Middle East over the past few years.
00:19It's deeply unfortunate that he inherited this mess
00:22from the Biden administration.
00:24If you all recall, under President Trump in his first term,
00:27the Middle East was on a pathway for peace and prosperity.
00:31There was the historic signing of the Abraham Accords.
00:33Israel was on a path to normalization between Arab and Gulf nations,
00:37and we hope that can continue.
00:39But right now, the president has made it very clear to Hamas
00:42that this is an acceptable and detailed proposal
00:45that they must accept,
00:47or the consequences are going to be very grave for them.
00:51And he has given them a deadline of Sunday evening at 6 p.m.
00:54When I was out here on Wednesday, I told all of you,
00:57I'll leave it to the president to make that red line, and he now has.
01:00I think the entire world should hear the president of the United States loud and clear.
01:04And Hamas has an opportunity to accept this plan
01:07and to move forward in a peaceful and prosperous manner in the region.
01:11And if they don't, the consequences, unfortunately, are going to be very tragic.
