Transcript
00:00So hi there, Mark Dunford from Sussex World. I'm here on the opening night, press night of Shocktoberfest at Tully's Farm. I'm with Dan. Say hi Dan. Hello. And that's Noah, my son. Now, Dan has been before. Yep. Noah, you haven't been before. Nope. You terrified? Yep. Dan, should he be terrified? Yes, definitely. Cool. And which beer are you looking forward to doing again, Dan? Chop Shop. I loved it. Very scary, but I loved it. Cool. Excellent. Noah, what are you looking forward to most?
00:30None of it. Cool. Excellent. Right. We're going to go in, try some of the experiences. There's a new one glitch. We could do Chop Shop, Electric Circus. So we'll let you know what it's like and see how terrified Noah gets. Hello. Thank you very much. How are you doing? Very well, my friend. Good, good, good. This is Noah genuinely terrified and hanging on to dear life. How are you feeling? What are you saying?
00:59What have you seen so far that scares you? I've just seen people and they scare us.
01:12So I'm here at a black carpet. There's some celebrities coming through. I think I've recognized one person so far, but that's just more a reflection of me than them. So, uh...
01:29Oh, I've got a connection. It's all right, you're friends. Yeah.
01:37I like them. Yeah. Rosie, my name. Rachel, you're that.
01:43So, Greg is here giving out some free food, enjoying some sausage rolls.
01:52Hello. How are you doing?
01:54They sense fear, Noah. They sense fear.
02:14Going into Chop Shop, Noah. How are we feeling? Your first experience at Choptoberfest.
02:23Um, yeah. Um, yeah.
02:26What do you think of the place so far?
02:28It seems cool. I've been chased by a weird chicken man. Um, but yeah.
02:33Wha-
02:39tremendously very well.
02:48So, Noah. First experience at Chop Shop. How was it?
02:51So, Noah, first experience, top-stop, how was it?
03:03It was exhilarating.
03:04It was terrifying.
03:05How were the actors?
03:06They were pretty good.
03:07They were pretty good.
03:08This one guy kept following me around and pointing at me.
03:12Here we go.
03:13We're going into the penitentiary in Wasteland.
03:18Terrifying.
03:20Thank you very much.
03:21Thank you very much.
03:22Thank you very much.
03:23Thank you very much.
03:24Thank you very much.
03:25Thank you very much.
03:26So, Electric Circus Noah, how was that one?
03:39Yeah, it's just a whirlwind of emotions.
03:42It's just crazy, but I'm enjoying it.
03:45I'm somewhat enjoying it.
03:46Oh, and the rain is coming down quite hard now.
03:48So, I think we're going to go and try and do Boomtown now.
03:51So, we'll let you know how that is.
03:53Electric Circus, that was good.
03:55The triangle bit where you walked through was tight.
03:58That was horrible.
03:59That was so bad.
04:00That was awful.
04:05Oh, hello.
04:06I'm going to get...
04:07I'm going to get...
04:08I'm going to get on.
04:09Get on, get on.
04:10If you want me to go...
04:11I'm going.
04:12I'm going.
04:13It's one of the carrots, they're giving a carrot!
04:16If you want me to cut, I'll go!
04:25So we've come out of Doomtown, and for some reason, Noah's got a carrot.
04:29I got a carrot! He gave me a carrot, I gave it to another actor, then he gave it back to me.
04:33So, I have a carrot.
04:35A carrot, what a souvenir! How did you find Doomtown? It's quite tame, that one.
04:38Yeah, because you could see everyone that was there, so it was a bit better.
04:42Yeah, it's a good entry level point, that one isn't it?
04:45Yeah, maybe do that one first.
04:46Oh, the annual carving is there!
04:48So we're going into the carvery now.
04:51Carving, sorry, the annual carving. I keep getting the names wrong of these things.
04:55So, oh, that's true.
05:12Oh, I'm so scared.
05:13Oh, that's right.
05:14Oh, that's right, that one.
05:17Oh, you'll see!
05:19Yeah, you're gonna have to go!
05:22Oh, that's right, whoa.
05:27Yeah.
05:28So, the carving, what did we think?
05:47It was alright, it was a long one, isn't it?
05:49It was a long, yeah.
05:50There was a lot of moments of nothing which built this suspense a lot more.
05:54I heard you saying a lot that you weren't scared, but were you?
05:57It was, it was a tactic to get them not to scare me.
06:00Yeah, wasn't it?
06:02That's so funny.
06:06Pause for three, and then you're holding for three.
06:10Okay, here we go.
06:12And hold it, one, two, three, and then breathe out with your mouth.
06:17Put it all out, oh lovely.
06:19If you do need any more mental health aids, you let me know, okay?
06:24My name is Susan, I work with the HR department.
06:28And we are out of Glitch.
06:31Now, how did you find that one?
06:33I didn't like that one.
06:34Didn't like that one, the scariest one yet, you think?
06:37Because I was in the front, I didn't like it in the front, I didn't like it in the front.
06:42Just being in the front is so much worse.
06:44Did they come at you?
06:45My voice is like, yeah.
06:46I was proper shouting then.
06:47Oh my days, that passion is awful.
06:48Cool, excellent.
06:50So, we're now just queuing up for purgatory, so, Noah, how are you feeling about-
06:56I hate nons.
06:58Well, you can't say that.
07:00I don't hate nons, I hate scary nons.
07:02You hate scary nons.
07:04You hate scary nons.
07:06Yes.
07:07Yeah, nobody wants to sound bite of that when they're growing old, do they?
07:10I hate nons.
07:11I hate nons.
07:12Scary nons are not good, but so, this one seems to be the most popular yet, big cues.
07:16So, see how it goes.
07:18Oh, I don't know where I'm going.
07:32I don't know where I'm going.
07:41So, purgatory, Noah, was it as bad as you thought it was going to be with the nons?
07:45No, but it was a bit of both. It was tame, but then they were just staring at you like, it was just like, oh, creepy.
07:55So we're queuing for the hayride now, and this is the longest we've had to wait.
08:00So what are your thoughts overall so far, guys?
08:03It's good. I'm loving it. I'm really enjoying it, yeah.
08:06So you were anxious before you came, though? You're feeling a bit better now?
08:11Well, yeah, I mean, it's still scary. It's still extremely scary, but
08:15it's just harder if you feel the rush, and it's just so good.
08:20So we're just getting on to the hayride. Look at that rain. Horrific.
08:25It's a pop here. It's a pop-it little experiment.
08:28The world is made up of particles and everything in between.
08:33We've been singing all that we've heard!
08:35Sing it!
08:36Happy birthday!
08:38Happy birthday to you!
08:41Happy birthday to you!
08:45Let's sing, let's do a knock-knock joke, knock-knock!
08:47Who's there?
08:48Boo!
08:49Boo you!
08:50Boo you!
08:50Because you're all going to get wet!
08:52Woo!
08:52Woo!
08:54Great love for the music, breathe it, boy!
08:57Oh, the soil slottos every single soil that comes through.
09:01Even yours!
09:04Anyone want the popcorn?
09:05I got sweet and salty, just like my ex-haven is.
09:08I've just done the coven of 13 witches or something it's called. What do we think, good?
09:26We've just done the coven of 13 witches or something it's called, what do we think, good?
09:38It was alright, that one was quite tame as well, of course the end.
09:41It's quite disorientating, isn't it?
09:43Because you don't know where you're going because it's so foggy, you can't actually see anything.
09:48It's a good workout as well, all you like to do is to do it.
09:50Yeah, that first bit's really cool because you can't actually see any action until they're not far, seriously.
09:55So no, we're just about to go into Hellermont, which is where we put something on our heads.
10:01Did that scare you? Is it scarier than the thought of nuns?
10:04Maybe, just not being able to see anything. It's all just sounds and jumping.
10:18Why wouldn't it be on this night?
10:21Behind you!
10:23I'll go in the back.
10:28So Hellermont, how did we enjoy that?
10:30It was weird, because you could kind of see, but you were still...
10:34It was so disorientating.
10:35And there were lots of points where there was no sound at all and you were just waiting for it.
10:39And then you'd go out and whisper in your ear.
10:41Yeah, it's like, whoa!
10:43Yeah, that was great.
10:44But does it feel better not seeing something?
10:46In a way, yes.
10:47In a way, no.
10:48Sometimes, but I had my eyes open and you could kind of see through.
10:50Yeah.
10:51Maybe you do with your eyes shut and it's less scary, but it's still just the shock of people coming out.
10:55Yeah.
10:56So we're just about to go into the last one of the evening, the creepy cottage.
11:00So, and then I think we're going to have a drink, debrief, and then go home.
11:07Oh, that's genuine.
11:10Oh my god.
11:12That's what's going to be on the other side.
11:14Oh.
11:15Yes!
11:16Yes!
11:18Yes!
11:19Yes!
11:20Yes!
11:21Yes!
11:23No, it felt like you struggled with that one a little bit.
11:25Why?
11:26I didn't like that one.
11:27I didn't like that one at all.
11:28I didn't like that one, no.
11:29Why not?
11:30It was some big bangs and...
11:31It was quite a quick one though, wasn't it?
11:32Yeah.
11:33It was quick, yeah.
11:34It was a quick one, but it was...
11:35I think it's a good one to maybe set you into it.
11:36Yeah.
11:37Yeah.
11:38Did we do it in the wrong order, do you think?
11:39Maybe.
11:40Yeah.
11:41We wanted to rush into it though, didn't we?
11:42Yeah, we wanted just to get going.
11:43Yeah, it was good though.
11:44But no, that was scary.
11:45It was scary.
11:46It was scary, yeah.
11:52You're a big Tommy girl, you're doing a climber.
11:57I'm here with Noah and Dan.
11:59How did it go guys?
12:00How did you enjoy Tully's Farm Shocktoberfest?
12:03It was terrifyingly good.
12:06Terrifyingly good.
12:07It was amazing.
12:08Yeah, it was terrifying and just amazing.
12:10And the effort they go through every year is just incredible.
12:14Honestly.
12:15Yeah.
12:16Right.
12:17It's...
12:18I don't know how to describe it.
12:19No.
12:20It is terrifyingly good.
12:21Yeah.
12:22Right.
12:23I mean, you know you're going to get scared, but you're going to get scared.
12:25You're going to get scared.
12:26And a lot of people don't expect it to be as scary as it is.
12:28No, it is.
12:29And then you just, the adrenaline rush after this.
12:30There's something for everybody as well.
12:31Yeah.
12:32Some people might not be scared of one thing, but they'll be terrified of the other thing.
12:35So, it's perfect for everybody, I think.
12:38You got it.
12:39I'm going to put it on the spot.
12:40A favourite, Dan?
12:41Ooh.
12:42Mine is probably, it's still going to be Chop Chop.
12:46Just that feeling of having...
12:48Like, when you come across somebody with a chainsaw, it's scary.
12:51And you have that feeling of a person chasing up behind you with a chainsaw and you can't
12:54even see what they're going to do.
12:56That, I just can't...
12:57That feeling is...
12:58Undescribable.
12:59I know.
13:00I'm going to go for...
13:02It's either between Electric Circus or Doomtown for me.
13:05Yeah.
13:06Doomtown was...
13:07I like Doomtown.
13:08It was like outside, sort of walking around with cars and stuff.
13:11Electric Circus was just like manic and like, you got quite claustrophobic at one point.
13:17And yeah.
13:18And you got your comfort carrot from...
13:20And I got my carrot from Doomtown for some reason, yeah.
13:22Brilliant.
13:23Excellent.
13:24Thanks guys.
13:25Well, I'm glad you enjoyed the evening and same time next year.
13:27Yeah.
