00:25one of the all-time classic games can he get in no he cannot god did it feel like i won a super bowl
00:31not at our house i'm just telling you
00:35hey everybody and welcome i'm kyle grant here with nfl classics after further review today's classic
00:46is a weird one in fact joe theisman called it the most bizarre football game he has ever seen
00:51it is the year 2006 the 5-0 chicago bears are playing the arizona cardinals and rookie
00:56quarterback matt leinart on monday night football you're going to see if the bears can pull off
01:01one of the most bizarre comebacks in nfl history without scoring an offensive touchdown and that
01:08goes a long way to winning the nfc championship that year and losing to peyton manning in the
01:12super bowl we'll hear from peyton in just a little bit six bears turnovers four hall of famers
01:18including one who doesn't even play a snap in the immortal words of the late dennis green
01:23coach what do you think of the 2006 bears they are who we thought they were you know it we miss
01:29you coach but let's get my friends in here right now this game has many nicknames one of which is
01:35the brian urlacher game guess who we've got we've got brian urlacher we got him 54 get in here
01:41how we feeling are you ready to go back to 06 yeah i mean i'm excited to go over this game again
01:47it's been a long time since i've seen any of it well you think you're excited now wait till we see
01:53our next friend who's coming in here he's the biggest comic on the planet i think the best
01:57and more importantly a bears fan brian who represents the northwest suburbs of chicago
02:02sebastian maniscalco welcome my friend how we doing baby i'm great i'm great good to be here
02:11analyzing this uh this unbelievable game with the legendary brian urlacher who i recently met
02:18this year i believe or was it late last year i forget but it was in arizona so it was a pleasure
02:23to meet him and good to be here i mentioned this bears team goes on to face peyton manning in the
02:29super bowl and we got him peyton what do you remember about watching this one yeah kyle uh in kind
02:35of preparation for this i looked back and saw that that was actually the bye week uh for the colts
02:40uh that week so i probably watched that game but certainly no clue that we would face that bears
02:48team in the super bowl in this season and that was a very tough team to prepare for that defense
02:55especially was tough brian urlacher lance briggs they were very sound they didn't do a whole lot
03:01on defense but the defenses that they did do they did them extremely well at a high level so it's funny
03:08to uh to watch this game knowing what was going to happen later in the postseason brian urlacher was
03:14the tallest linebacker i'd ever played against and usually you think tall you think oh maybe stiff
03:21maybe not that fast maybe not that athletic wrong on all of those when it came to brian urlacher
03:27extremely fast great athletic ability could catch everything uh i'm pretty sure he got his hands
03:34on the ball in the very first play that super bowl i'm like i can get this ball over brian urlacher oh
03:40maybe i can't i didn't realize he's six four and can probably jump you know who knows 40 inches for
03:46all i know so uh he was the leader of that defense he was the quarterback of that defense uh kept
03:52everybody in line out there and uh one of the one of the best linebackers i ever competed against this game
03:58of course uh was famous for the dennis green press conference uh after the game uh if you want to
04:05crown them crown them uh the bears are exactly who we thought they were uh i do remember in that super
04:13bowl uh after beating the bears we were on the bus ride going back to the hotel for the team party we
04:19had a great leader a great linebacker named gary bracket he was a funny guy and he was standing up on
04:26the bus saying the bears were exactly who we thought they were a little tribute there to dennis green
04:33so uh that was one memory but dennis green was a heck of a coach uh great guy and that was certainly
04:39one of the iconic press conferences if you want to crown them then crown their ass brian somehow it has
04:45been 19 years since this game what do you remember like sebastian saying about this era and right now
04:52going into this game as you guys sit in five and oh no that was a great season you know we started
04:57the year before i think we were uh 11 and five and that was lovey's second year so we were just getting
05:02rolling i feel like in his in his tenure there and just figured out how we want how he wanted us to
05:06play but yeah we're five no we were rolling you know we figured this game we don't take any game
05:10lightly that's for sure but the cardinals were not that good at the time and they had a rookie
05:14quarterback we played him in the preseason they beat us but preseason's preseason no one really
05:18cares about that but they did beat us in the third preseason game um but we expected to win this
05:22game uh hand handily i'll say that we ended up winning but not the way we thought we would
05:27well certainly not and a lot of the bears fans there expected you to win i know that because i
05:32was one of them sebastian i was like you i was living in la and i was at home in my apartment this day
05:36and i decided at the last second to go to the game by myself as a fan i wasn't working in sports
05:42no friend certainly no girlfriend but i wanted to watch my hometown bears defense just
05:47annihilate matt liner without further ado sebastian brian let's go to arizona monday night october
05:552006 it's important to remember matt liner huge extremely high profile usc heisman famous as hell
06:05brian specifically as he comes out for the first cardinals drive what are you and lance and all the
06:09boys thinking in the huddle he's a rookie that's what we're thinking you know i know he played good
06:13the week before i think he had two really good games coming up to this game uh didn't matter our
06:18defense was playing a pretty high level back then and quam baldwin was their receiver they had edge in
06:22the backfield so we were a little worried about them but um we were going to play man and and cover
06:26three and make him uh make him beat us and he did the first half he did i just want to point out the
06:33swarming defense which i don't know it just it looks like nine guys are on on the tackle and i haven't
06:41seen that from the bears in years i mean can we look at previous game tape and and look how to tackle
06:51it's just beautiful a lot of guys are on that football right i just that's the first thing i
06:56noticed too when i watched that right there sebastian how many guys would get to the football and
07:00trying to get a piece of that ball carrier so what we're going to see here is this crazy methodical
07:07drive edger and james getting stuffed every time by brian and friends and then liner just keeps
07:12pulling these passes out sebastian you must remember liner they he was so famous they had him do the
07:17introductions the other guys don't even get to speak he gets to conduct the whole orchestra but you
07:23were in la at the time sebastian like do you remember how big of a deal liner was and reggie bush and
07:28all those guys at sc yeah no they were they were kind of running the town at that point i don't even
07:34know if we had a team here in los angeles at that point uh the pro team but uh yeah they were kind of
07:41like our protein i i haven't adopted any la sports teams at all uh my allegiance i should say this in
07:49the beginning is all chicago bulls blackhawks uh bears it's not like i came to la and all of a sudden
07:56start liking the rams or the lakers so uh yeah these guys were major stars in town uh of course
08:04i'd never ran into them at that point in my career i was uh just coming out of working as a waiter at
08:10the four seasons hotel so uh i didn't see these guys at all so brian we're like three or four snaps into
08:17this what is it like for you to sit there and watch this there you are right there what how
08:21are you feeling right now it's exciting you know i'm trying to in my mind go back and rethink the
08:26plays there's obviously i remember the huge plays but there's always small plays at the beginning that
08:31and they're like you said their drives were long it was annoying because we get into third and four
08:34third and five and they convert it was pissing us off and very annoying but matt did a good job
08:40early in the game but it's good to go back and see some of these guys i played with back in uh
08:44mike brown right there back in 2006. mike brown's one of my favorite teammates of all time
08:49well mike brown's gonna have his moment we're gonna shout him out sebastian you're a fan like i am
08:54watching this team again trying to stop this rookie quarterback in prime time how are you feeling we're
08:59five six game plays in let's let's have a check-in how are you i'm gonna go right to mike brown on this
09:05uh another thing i don't see a lot he's trying to strip the ball on the tackle he's trying to he's
09:10trying to cause a fumble uh which as a fan you like to see these types of things when you're
09:15sitting at home again oh six oh seven i forget when this was alone no girlfriend no nothing uh
09:23these are these are the moments i'm living for as uh as a chicago bears fan but uh yeah i i don't know
09:30i i would i i would think we're in good shape here and i'm not seeing anything from the arizona car
09:34i was like oh i mean it's taking him a while to kind of march down the field but they're doing it
09:40in that's his best run of the night i think brian yeah yeah i was gonna say for that looks like about
09:44seven or eight yards right there took a nice shot there in there but yeah i mean at the i think he
09:49has like i said 30 something carries for 50 yards or 60 yards it was his yards per carry was really bad
09:53there during the game i know a lot of chicagoans move to arizona when you're playing in arizona is it
10:01do you have a sense that this is kind of a home game or do you hear any of the bears fans sebastian
10:07anywhere we played it was a it was i'm not playing at least a quarter if not half the stadium was bears
10:13fans especially in this game um i'll at the end of the game it was half the stadium was bears fans
10:18it was incredible now the only place that doesn't happen is division games because they don't give us
10:22tickets because they're not dumb yeah but i'm sure everywhere we go our bears fans are unbelievable they
10:28travel great cool yeah i was i was uh one of them that night and i remember this was how good this
10:36defense was guys that right now i remember at this point in the drive the cardinals have gotten a few
10:40first downs nothing special all my friends are texting me at the game like what the hell's wrong
10:44with the defense they suck tonight what's going on with them they hadn't given up like 25 yards
10:49because that's how dominant you guys were and now bolden's breaking tackle so brian they're almost in
10:54the red zone now this is a big drive this is a good drive to start the game i didn't realize they
10:58had the ball this long it's five minute drive already uh converted a couple third downs but
11:02you know it happens early in the game they have a good game plan they come out they execute they
11:06make some plays that's the way it goes we didn't care where we were put on the field our our expectations
11:10were to take the ball away and get it back for our offense no matter where we were
11:14we'll talk about rex shortly sebastian is there is there a symmetry between a rookie quarterback
11:20and a rookie comic who's getting up there under the lights for the first time and feeling that
11:26pressure what's that like i would i would assume that a rookie quarterback will perform a hell of a
11:32lot better than a rookie comedian a rookie comedian has i mean no experience he has really no material
11:40uh so every night that he goes up there he's getting killed i mean just just murdered uh so
11:47uh i i don't really see a correlation here because you know a guy like leinart was playing
11:55you know as a teenager high school college so he's familiar with the game a comedian coming out in 1998
12:02when i came out to california i went up there and and it was it was terrifying so uh yeah i think a
12:08rookie comedian is worse than a rookie quarterback i think so too and i listen i i was a young guy in la
12:16at the time too the first time i saw matt liner who's at the playboy mansion as a college student
12:20like that he was basically hefner with the robe on and i think they're knocking on the door here
12:24brian this is one more run that's what is that edrin again and they're just picking and picking is
12:30it frustrating yeah he has some good i didn't realize they had this good of a drive on the ground
12:35especially this early in the game he had some yards there and uh it's probably getting five six yards
12:39of pop there uh it's frustrating watching now because i didn't realize that they they uh that kind of
12:43moved down the field that easily on us but i know how the game turns out so it's okay
12:48yeah well there's a lot of crazy stuff that's still to go and here we go second and four brian
12:55talk us through this play this is going to be painful but this is why you're here you can
12:57this is just a touchdown for uh is it bolden i think yeah i don't know we'll see yeah i think i
13:01missed a tackle on one of these plays so uh let's see or it's brian that's brian johnson right
13:07there's a bolden that's brian johnson yeah brian johnson yeah i mean i was just we were playing
13:11cover too like just a little screen there to the or a quick pass to the slot there and
13:15we missed a tackle and that was the end of it you know what an easy drive there was no stress on them
13:20that whole damn drive uh very disappointing to come out and start a game like that for us on defense
13:25not a good tone setter guys we have a lot more to get to sebastian it's brian we have to introduce
13:31rex grossman to the game because at the time he was an mvp candidate and i'm not joking this game
13:36might have altered that conversation a lot plus this is one of the greatest craziest comebacks in nfl
13:41history and the way that it happens is something that's never been done before or since don't go
13:47anywhere sebastian's got takes and brian's gonna break it all down
13:59welcome back to after further review watching the infamous bears cardinals monday night football
14:05classic of 2006 with brian urlacher and my man sebastian meniscalco if you notice something odd
14:10about the touchdown for the cardinals it wasn't just that they went right down the field against
14:13brian's defense brian johnson has his full ass name on the back of his jersey you just don't see it
14:20anymore sebastian what do you think of a guy who has his full name on the back instead of just johnson
14:25i like people that do things that that not everybody else is doing so i think it's pretty cool that he put
14:32his whole name on there i don't maybe he thought johnson was just a common name so he had to distinguish
14:37himself with the first name well sebastian if you like guys doing different things brian johnson was
14:43not alone in this game give me the next picture in the same game this was very hot at the time todd
14:49johnson brian's teammate has the full name you think that's it no there's another one in the same game
14:56we've got tank johnson who's giving brian a hug on the sideline brian what's with the full names what are
15:03we doing you guys bust chops about that or is it cool like sebastian says i never noticed it honestly
15:08until you just pointed it out to me i guess if you have three four guys with the same name on your on
15:12your team but we have todd johnson tank johnson both t johnson so i guess that's why they spelled their
15:17names out like that i i never honestly never noticed that until you pointed out to me just now um i don't
15:22i guess i don't look at the back of the jerseys that often that's that's that's that's pretty interesting
15:26though we got to get to rex grossman now rex is an easy target which is ironic because he
15:32couldn't hit any in this game he gets the ball back he's down seven nothing and brian here we go
15:38you know rex is a gunner and they're gonna grab this one every time now watch the return the guy
15:45made a good play on defense man that was a good return damn get him oh is that aaron francisco
15:51from uh byu yeah yeah they're a good football player um yeah man hey you know it's francisco
15:57because the name's on the back there you go oh i knew it was i knew it was number two actually i'm
16:02a numbers guy sebastian i like to memorize guys numbers but hey man he took a shot you know it's
16:06not a maybe a little bit under thrown there for who's he throwing to moose or i don't know who
16:11it is anyway that's good play davis i think uh is it rashid i'm a i'm a uh rex grossman guy so you
16:16know these games happen sometimes doesn't matter in the end we we came back and found a way to win
16:21but yeah he threw four picks and had two fumbles but we still won the game
16:25sebastian are you cringing how are you feeling
16:31on that play i'm wondering what brian's doing on the sidelines is he sitting on the bench having
16:36some water and then all of a sudden pops up we go what happened or like how how does defense how
16:43do defenders watch offense do they how does that work so i was not a bench setter i would go in there
16:50i would get like the first 20 seconds bob babich would talk to me about adjustments we need to
16:55make or what happened on this player that play get some pedia light and i go watch i love watching
16:59the game man i like to see what was going on uh so that play i'm like damn it get my helmet we got
17:04to go back out there we got to go back on defense so um turnovers happen you know they make they get
17:09paid on defense too just like we did good play right there mm-hmm mm-hmm that's your guy might be
17:16see that's right i um i mentioned rex is an easy target we got to understand i'm a rex apologist
17:24going into this game he was the offensive player of the month in september he was on fire he was
17:30getting mvp buzz he was everywhere brian i know you've had a lifetime of this how much are you still
17:36asked about rex to this day quite a bit i mean our fans like to talk about rex you know it's it's
17:42it's kind of dumb to me the blame he gets for this game and people blame him for the super bowl
17:46loss which i do not understand because in that game the super bowl they had a i just missed the
17:51tackle by the way uh another touch that's the one i was talking earlier yeah anyway uh rex is the
17:55man in my opinion we lost super bowl because we gave up 450 yards to the colts you know they had
18:00200 yards rushing and 250 passing that was my only missed tackle of the game it pisses me off to
18:05watch that play but um what do you do that was cover two sebastian bears quarterbacks i know we're
18:14watching curtain celebrate but we we got to finish the rex topic over the years which is can you sum
18:18up like how the fans feel about rex or quarterbacks in general because we got brian we got some great
18:23players but there's always a quarterback conversation and as matt liner celebrates
18:28yeah rex roseman i was a fan of rex roseman um uh historically i don't think the bears have had
18:36the upper echelon and qbs throughout the history um you know the bears for me at least have always
18:44kind of relied on their defense and and back in the day was the running game but the game has switched
18:48so much i don't think maybe running is is a top priority but you know i i started watching the the
18:54bears with bob avellini um so i you know i i like i think rex and jim mcmahon were my favorite
19:04two uh chicago bears quarterbacks um but yeah i mean i don't know i i i i haven't seen a quarterback
19:11come out of chicago that was really blowing my socks off in the last uh 15 years i don't know no
19:20out rex and uh jim mcmahon your favorite bears quarterbacks brian who is your least favorite
19:25bears quarterback and why is it cutler thanks for giving me thanks for giving me a chance to
19:32answer that there kyle uh i like jay jay was awesome jay jay's the most talented quarterback i
19:37played with that that's for dang sure um yeah some people didn't like his antics on the sideline
19:41that's just who he was man i got no problem with it he he was tough i'll tell you one thing about
19:45jay color that dude was tough he played hurt he played injured he didn't uh didn't complain he
19:50just went out there uh we didn't play great you know i think our defense has kind of fallen down
19:55that we were going downhill uh when we got him but um when rex was there our defense was was going this
20:00direction for sure sebastian you mentioned you've played the arizona area many times brian you live
20:05there i want you to take a look at a specific bears fan who makes the trip to arizona bring up this
20:12picture this was in this game i want your thoughts on the gentleman specifically on the right who
20:18appears to be wearing a vikings colors at the bears game i don't know if that's the only paint he could
20:25find what do you think of that guy i don't know how anybody else feels about this type of fan listen
20:33when you're a grown man and and you're painting yourself half purple half beige or whatever whatever
20:40that is with the wig and this that and the other thing i don't know i i just uh i don't i don't hang
20:48with this crowd you know what i'm saying like none of my buddies do this and uh i've often found it
20:57a little disturbing that that people get this involved i mean i like the game don't get me wrong
21:02but you'll never see me in an afro as soon as you take your shirt off there's a problem i'm sorry i've
21:08never taken my shirt off in public i think since 1991 when i was washing the car on my driveway
21:20all right when we come back um you think that was the most ridiculous thing in the stadium those guys
21:25in the afros in the paint it's not even close what if i told you there was a player on the field who
21:29looked crazier than even those dudes fashion statement coming up and later it's one of the most
21:35well-known nfl sound bites of all time dennis green's classic press conference rant coming up

22:03back here on nfl classics watching the 2006 bears cardinals monday night comeback sebastian my favorite
22:10special of yours is called aren't you embarrassed with that sentiment in mind i want to show you
22:17something i want to show you a professional athlete in this game cardinals versus bears and i want you to
22:23give us your thoughts bring up the picture here we go go go ahead no listen
22:33i'm taking that this guy is a kicker right punter okay punter punter okay yeah what i want the nfl to
22:41bring back i actually like this look for a kicker punter with the one bar uh and and i don't know why this
22:51stopped what happened to the barefoot punter and kicker there used to be guys out there that used to take
22:59their shoe off to punt and kick and i haven't seen this in years brian can you give us some insight
23:08on why we don't see the barefooted kickers anymore i have no idea why i remember i remember seeing those
23:15back in the day i think maybe it's too cold i don't know maybe they're playing in cold weather places i
23:19don't want to do it anymore i don't know it doesn't make sense because we're a bunch back in the day i
23:23remember seeing them all of them mostly i feel like place kickers were the guys that had their shoes
23:26off maybe they liked the way the football felt on their foot i don't know there's a lightning bolt
23:31in this game that changes everything it is 23 to 3 cardinals end of the third quarter cardinals with
23:37the ball and then this lightning strike lands in the middle of the arizona desert let's lay out and
23:44listen to the great mike torico when everything changes
23:58touchdown bears brian i'm going to give you the floor mike brown is a very popular favorite player
24:04among bears fans what did you love about playing with number 30 out of nebraska his enthusiasm his
24:09intensity just always he's always around the football man if the ball was on the ground if
24:14there was a bad throw mike made the play he was johnny on the spot all the time you see it right
24:18here but i don't know what happened with mark they didn't block mark mark had like i think 12 sacks
24:22this year as a rookie um but they didn't block him mike's obviously sees it from his zone drop there but
24:28the thing i remember about this game for mike is mike tore his uh he had a bad injury into the season
24:34he had a liz frank injury to his foot later in the game and it probably cost us a really good chance
24:39to win the super bowl because he didn't play the last 10 games or whatever for us but what a great
24:43play you know mike's like i said johnny on the spot always made big plays for us every game
24:49it's a great take and bears fans will remember the super bowl reggie wayne gets behind the defense
24:53scores a touchdown maybe mike brown is there in the meantime sebastian you're the football maybe he's
24:58there what the hell are the cardinals doing on this play i don't know what what what what wrong
25:04here but i do have a question and i maybe brian knows the answer when you throw a football into
25:11the stands are you fined from the nfl and do you have to pay for that football so i've never done
25:18it sebastian but i've been told there's a 5 000 back then i think it was a five thousand dollar fine i'm
25:22sure it's way more now because back then um that was a lot of money so i'm assuming it's probably 20 25
25:27thousand now i don't think they should get fined i think it's awesome that they give the football to
25:31the fans it should be it should be uh they should want people to do that i i do too i i think the
25:37football into the stands is something that uh it should not be fined i think it brings the fans like
25:43i just went to a baseball game and and there was a there was a are we gonna catch a flaw a foul ball i
25:50think we should have the same thing in football that's what i got out of that play agreed
25:53great take guys what the bears got out of that play was it was a pulse you're alive now we go back
26:00to the game just over six minutes left now the bears are down 13 there's not a lot of time left
26:06rex comes back on the field and as a fan you're like all right you've had a tough night but certainly
26:11you're gonna get it together now he's got thomas jones behind him all the momentum is with the bears
26:15just give us something rex check it down hand it off brian take us through it
26:21i'm watching oh good play good play by the safety man uh you know throw might have been a little
26:29behind him i don't know it's a good play by that safety uh you know i know interception you know
26:33we're in second and 15 there it's not a good situation i mean you're down two touchdowns second
26:3815 you gotta throw the football the defense knows that they're gonna you know they're probably gonna
26:41drop in zone and make you pick them apart but that's a good play for that safety man and like you
26:46said about about i'm sorry uh about coming back yeah rex all season long his numbers were phenomenal
26:51so of course you expected him to come out and do something good in this situation um no they made a
26:57guy made a great play there uh good job on defense everybody
27:01see hall of fame teammate too brian every time rex throws a pick the first thing you say great play
27:06great play great great play by the defense the cardinals worried about their inability to finish
27:14if they can't finish this one now with all the turnovers they've created with what they've done
27:18to rex rosen if they can't finish this one now that we can't even listen to them for the rest of the
27:23year all the air franchise yeah just close up the dome put the roof on it and give it back to is it
27:30pendergast yep give it back to his family and resell it as a a pizza haven because it's over for
27:36football if they don't hold on to this one
27:44second down here's james right into the line did the ball come out it did it's
27:49snooped up by the bears charles killman takes in the distance and chicago is very much alive
27:56this is what i'm talking about this is what i'm talking about yep this this defense could change
28:02the game so fast and this is what i miss about bears football the possibility of scoring when the
28:10bears took the field as a defense was just as great as when the bears took the field as offense so you
28:18had hope uh and uh this is this is for to me the momentum here is all in the bears favor
28:25and uh as a fan watching again alone no girlfriend at my house i thought uh we got a shot here
28:36brian it's not just a normal strip this is a he-man strip this is like one of the greatest strips of
28:40all time you're being modest take me through it that's a hall of fame you're ripping it out of
28:44that's edrian james one of the best running backs of all time you know this is what we're coached to do
28:48you know this is what lovey came in and started from day one taught us what to do go for the football
28:53if the guys got the tackle secured you go for the football so that's what we're coached to do
28:57uh that was perfect you know i had a chance to reach my arm around and just pull the ball usually
29:01if you get inside their their little uh cup there whatever you want to call it around the ball the
29:06ball comes out so i was able to dig it out and uh like i said charles picked it up what was he
29:10challenging here i don't understand he was challenging if the forward progress was stopped and
29:15you're not allowed to challenge it that's what the referee was saying gotcha they're trying to they're
29:20trying to find any reason to to change the momentum right here and they can't they're
29:26completely helpless sebastian you got a lot of ideas about how the game should be played
29:29at this point it's almost like the bears should just punt on first down so that their defense can
29:34come out and score for them and i mean it's why not it would be a better chance it would work
29:40that's what i say all right right now i'm watching i'm i'm loving watching the defense
29:44play more than the offense i know and here's bobby gold all right b brian 23 17 you're down six but

30:36anyway you can come and sit with us forever don't leave it my job stradamus knew it was going to
30:41happen he said the cardinals are up by 20 it's not going to be enough all right back to the game
30:45because it's almost over there's left in five minutes left cardinals have the ball it's a six
30:49point lead just do anything right anything right if you're the cardinals brian you can feel it you
30:55guys are going to pull this thing out down six but you got to get the ball back dude we gotta get the
30:59ball back yeah well or or score right you gotta get the ball back at least give our offense a chance to
31:03score but if we don't get the ball back uh either defensively or however it's uh it's over with
31:08we made some play they would not throw the football i understand you got a quarterback but they just
31:12would not throw the football and they did so well at that the first half they wouldn't do it second half
31:19you say after the game brian we're going to get to it you say they're not they weren't even blocking
31:23me that's when the kids say bold strategy cotton let's see if it works out for them why would they
31:27not be blocking the middle linebacker 54. i don't i don't know i i really feel like either our guys
31:33are doing a really great job or they were screwing up their scheme maybe because i feel like i was
31:37running free to the ball uh this whole second half or at least these last couple drives there really
31:42wasn't any impediment for me to get to the football oh there's a pass there you go see it works every
31:51time you throw it yeah and they just quit doing it you guys never really stopped leinard in this game
31:59we really i don't think you turned the football over we had the fumble he didn't throw any picks
32:04we didn't get our hands on any footballs pass wise um he played well he knew he knew our defense pretty
32:09well because he when he saw eight man front he would throw a hitch when he saw cover two he'd throw a
32:13check down uh he was prepared to play this game uh coach coach green did a good job getting him ready
32:18just didn't make enough plays in the end those are good numbers pointed out too now great numbers
32:24larry fitzgerald is out of this game he's hurt he doesn't play so that's just another thing the
32:29cardinals had going against them there's brian's 300th brian do you know how many tackles you had in
32:33this game i do so this was hot taco wise i think i had 26 but i remember the one i missed on that
32:39touchdown for balding there i think i was 26 for 27 uh tackles wise look i didn't get blocked again
32:44see that kyle sebastian no one blocked me i know it's it's funny you mentioned this brian you say
32:50that you remember the tackles but you remember the one you missed it's it's very similar to comedy you
32:55could be having the best set of your life you look down and one person's not laughing and you hone in
33:01on that one person you could be making 3 000 people as the ones not you hone in on it's very it's very
33:06ironic that it's very similar in sport and comedy in that sense
33:13well george there's going to be a lot of laughing from the bears fans here as we look back this is
33:17the kind of day that you were having brian they're bringing out the greats what's this like to watch
33:21back i haven't seen this part this is awesome you know we've got the best tradition of middle
33:25linebackers in the NFL history like bill george dick buckus mike singletary luckily i was able to
33:30jump in there with them in the hall of fame uh we had another one coming up too roquan smith was in
33:34that category too and they traded him for some reason you're right
33:39that's true it's an odd one and he's great with baltimore right now but he's just doing good

34:42rookie punt returner devin hester who was not even returning kicks at the time and here we go
34:50maybe yours this is unbelievable just look how fast he is how fast he changes direction

35:04unbelievable it's your favorite guy right here sebastian that's your dude okay
35:10anytime there was a pump or kickoff and devin hester it there's a possibility of a score
35:17and and i don't know i i wasn't at these games but brian was was there a sense of electricity on the
35:27sidelines when this guy was returning punts so whenever the oak where it was a kickoff point
35:33which we all our whole sideline stood up to win to go and watch there was no one sitting down watching
35:38the punt or like not watching we wanted to get a front row seat to what he was doing
35:44devin hester from the 18th reading books devin hester into the open field and hester picks up
35:50another block devin hester the putter to beat he beat him devin hester all the way touchdown chicago
35:59bears this is just incredible that is exactly what he did in college at miami to louisville when they had
36:07a big lead and the rookie does it again 82 yards absolutely incredible they've scored no points on
36:15their own offense the first game of the year this year at green bay he took one back 80 yards it was
36:19his first game of his career so we knew right away that this dude was going to be special and he just
36:24i think he returned seven this year wow yeah but there's a lot of time on that clock i didn't realize
36:31there was three minutes to go in the game uh when this happened i thought it was under that
36:37this one is look back on brian as that was the game winner there was a lot of time there was a lot
36:42of football and remember matt liner has been electric one more time from the back
36:47sebastian this is your guy watch him go oh the change of direction well you know what it is it
36:53this is the changes direction but it's still going you know forward there's a lot of guys that you know
36:58know it just seems like he's doing one to two steps in changing direction and not taking a lot
37:04of real estate east or west it's always kind of north and south so this guy i'm sorry i haven't seen
37:11anybody in the nfl since this guy that's sideline that causes this much excitement you'll never see
37:17it again sebastian there's never going to be anyone else like devon hester and well especially now with
37:22the way the rules are i mean just the way he changed directions the way he he set up he set up with
37:27blockers too you know the guys were great blocking for him but he set them up all the times and just
37:31you'll never see anything else like him again in the history of the nfl you see the way the game is
37:36trending it led to one of the greatest finishes and one of the greatest sound bites in the history of
37:41professional sports we have one more cardiac case before this thing ends the card was going to get
37:46the ball back we're going to wrap it up right after this brian's a little bit nervous he forgot carl's

38:12up a neil rackers field goal a 40 yarder to win the game no hester no mike brown return doesn't matter
38:18brian you remember this now that you're watching it i do i mean i thought for sure we're going to
38:23block it so israel adonajay had blocked two or three kicks earlier this season i think and we always
38:28did the push you know you push him in there he'd go up with his right arm and he blocked there's no
38:33doubt in my mind we're blocking the way the game had gone there was no doubt he was going to block it
38:37didn't but this this guy made like 30 something straight kicks i think it was an amazing number
38:42so if we didn't block it the game was we were going to lose that was my that was my take on it
38:46and there's 54 92 right up the middle there's that push no block and he hooks it yank unbelievable
38:56watch the reactions it's amazing
39:01look at you brian how's that feel i know unbelievable watching lovey's face is exciting
39:06for me because at halftime he and olin told us he goes we're not going to lose this game uh we're
39:10going to we're going to our players our big-time players are going to make plays uh lovey said that
39:14and olin's like we're not losing this game we're going to find a way to win we're going to score
39:17points on offense defense take the ball away we're going to win and not all those things happen
39:21but we found a way to win the game
39:26sebastian should we hear from brian after the game down on the field do you want to hear the
39:30post-game sound from 54 yeah i hate hearing myself talk by the way
39:34well michelle tofoya and brian urlacher back in 2006 with a little baby face let's go
39:43i was thinking we're going to block it actually beat me uh everything was going our way at that
39:46time i thought we'd definitely get up on his face and pressure because he's a good kicker but
39:50i'm excited right now i'll tell you that much i can tell this whole team is at one point late in
39:55this game it seemed like something in you switched and you simply took over what was in your head late in
40:01the fourth first of all they weren't blocking me so that was easy but i mean we just kept playing
40:05hard we knew we could make some plays if we played hard and we never gave up and we made some plays
40:09when we had to matt leinard a very good performance for a rookie what was it like facing him tonight
40:16he's a good quarterback you know he's young he tried to throw a lot of stuff at him he did a good
40:19job protecting the football he didn't have any uh interceptions but we uh we made one more play
40:24when we had to last thing brian they started to they dominated early in this game it was expected
40:30you guys would dominate this game was there any point when doubt crept in for these chicago bears
40:35never we at halftime we knew we were going to come out and play hard it was a three-score game we
40:39we never give up our head coach won't let us and we came out and plays the plays in the second half
40:43congratulations six and oh i could not wait to get to the locker room though you said it man i could
40:49not wait to get away from michelle and go in the locker room and celebrate with my teammates you
40:53know it was uh that was a crazy game man and i can you can see how emotional i was right there i
40:57just couldn't i could barely get the words out but it was so exciting to come back and win that game
41:02and like i told you at halftime love was like we're gonna find a way to win olin said it uh and we did
41:07it it's crazy this is what's nuts about this game is that we've showed six different moments that blow
41:13your mind and we still haven't shown the most memorable moment which came right after the game in which
41:20the late denny green rage walks off the field right to the press room and gives us what you've been
41:26waiting for all show roll it there's what we thought they were what we thought they were
41:33we played them in preseason who the hell takes a third game in a preseason like it's bullshit
41:37bullshit we played them in the third game everybody played three quarters the bears are who we thought
41:43they were and that's why we took the damn field now if you want to crown them then crown their ass
41:50but they are who we thought they were and we let them off the hook

41:58it's art sebastian it's it's he's just cooking up there what is it like to watch that for you
42:04hey listen i like when people uh have raw emotion i'm just trying to figure out still to this day
