00:00The mystery around singer Zubin Garg's death has deepened with the arrest of his two more
00:13close associates, co-musician Shekhar Jyoti Goswami and co-singer Amit Prava Mahanta.
00:18Both of them were present in Singapore when the 52-year-old artist tragically died while
00:22swimming on September 19, the police said. With these arrests, four people are now behind
00:27bars in connection with the case. Just a day earlier, Zubin's manager Siddharth Sharma and
00:31event organizer Shamkanu Mahanta, the man behind the Northeast India Festival, were arrested.
00:36They faced charges under the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanita for culpable homicide, not amounting to murder,
00:41conspiracy and causing death by negligence. But the case has taken an even sharper turn.
00:46Investigators have now added Section 103 dealing with murder. If proven, it could mean life
00:52imprisonment or even the death penalty. This case isn't just legal, it's political.
00:56Shamkanu Mahanta is the younger brother of former Assam DGP Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta
01:00and another elder brother has been closely associated with Chief Minister Hemant Biswa.
01:04The probe is expanding rapidly, with over 60 FIRs filed across Assam. A special investigation team
01:10says it is ready to fly to Singapore once clearance comes through under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty.
01:16Singaporean authorities have already completed their own autopsy and will soon hand over the report
01:20to Garg's family. A second autopsy in Guwahati still awaiting viscera analysis from Delhi.
01:25Even those closest to Garg have not been spared questioning, including his cousin,
01:29Deputy SP Sandeepan Garg, who was with him in Singapore during the incident.
01:33For now, the sudden loss of Zubin Garg, a cultural icon of Assam, remains clouded in mystery.
