00:00If Jane Goodall had been born in India, would her story have unfolded the same way?
00:04A young woman, no degree, saying she wants to live in the jungle and study animals.
00:08Would she have been given a chance or would the system have shut the door on her?
00:13British born Goodall passed away on October 1, 2025 at the age of 91.
00:17Even in her final years, she was still travelling, still speaking and still fighting for wildlife
00:23and the planet.
00:24What makes her story remarkable is that she didn't start as a scientist at all.
00:29She had no formal degree when she began.
00:31Goodall's own path began with curiosity, not classrooms.
00:35Born in London in 1934, she spent her childhood watching animals closely, even sitting in a
00:39chicken coop for hours just to see how eggs were laid.
00:43That kind of patience and observation would later define her life.
00:46At 26, she went to Tanzania with just a notebook and binoculars.
00:51There she lived among chimpanzees and noticed things no one had before.
00:55Chimps making and using tools, showing emotions and building relationships.
00:59Until then, science believed only humans did that.
01:02Her work forced the world to change its definition of intelligence.
01:06She never had a science degree to begin with.
01:08In fact, Cambridge University admitted her straight into a PhD program because her fieldwork was
01:14so extraordinary.
01:15In India, a similar journey would be harder.
01:17Research here often demands paperwork, clearances, funding and credibility usually comes with degrees.
01:23A young woman wanting to spend months in the jungle might not even get permission to start.
01:28But Goodall's story shows that passion and persistence can break barriers.
