00:00Oh, you became a human bomb. Oh, you're a terrorist now.
00:08Alright, Gempat! Sekarang bersama dengan Nuray Istiqbal.
00:13How are you, Nuray?
00:14Alhamdulillah.
00:15Alhamdulillah, shukur.
00:16Okay, let's get to the question.
00:17How is it returning to Malaysia, the place where you first embrace Islam?
00:21Does it feel like extra meaningful for you?
00:24Of course, Alhamdulillah.
00:25Do you feel like overwhelmed coming here to Malaysia, you know, with what happened recently in your life?
00:31Not overwhelming. It's just special and I just feel thankful.
00:34Really thankful for giving me the opportunity to meet all those people.
00:38Audience from Gempat, I just want to know, can you share a story of how you first encountered Islam and what I expect of it resonate?
00:46I mean, what part of it touches you, actually, in Islam?
00:49So, this one, I always tell people, what made me curious or what made me want to study Islam is Muslim people's kindness.
00:57And then, now, I sometimes do Datwa, Datwa.
01:02Like, it's actually, I'm not teaching, but I just join to study.
01:06But people think that Datwa is teacher.
01:09Yes, we start, we start.
01:11But what made me a Muslim is Muslim people's kindness and smile.
01:17So, that's Datwa because they smile at me, they treat me so nice, that made me Muslim.
01:22That's Datwa, right?
01:23Yeah.
01:24I mean, you love Islam by, it's actually the teaching.
01:27Teaching of it, you know what I mean?
01:29And, yeah, but I fell in love because of the people first.
01:33And then, that made me want to study.
01:36Do you think that your decision is actually something gradual or did you just, like, know it right away?
01:43Gradually.
01:44Gradually.
01:44Yeah.
01:45Just step by step.
01:46Yeah.
01:47Because without knowing what you believe, what are you believing?
01:52Right?
01:53If you don't know what you're believing, you cannot say that I believe it.
01:56So, I took time to study and tried to know what it is.
01:59It's nearly a year since you practice Islam.
02:02And so, you name Islam now, which is Nuri Istiqbal.
02:06What was the name actually mean to you?
02:09And why do you personally choose that name?
02:12Nuri Istiqbal.
02:12Istiqbal is a new beginning.
02:14So, it's perfect for the new chapter of my life.
02:17And Nuri is...
02:19I wanted Nur because I wanted to become a light.
02:23And I wanted a light also.
02:24So, I wanted to put Nur.
02:26And Nuri is a moonlight.
02:28I don't think that I am a sun kind of person.
02:31But, moonlight.
02:33In the darkness, we can all shine.
02:35And that's what I wanted in my Muslim life.
02:38So, yeah.
02:38Nuri Istiqbal.
02:39Do you get that name from...
02:42Or do you read somewhere that name and then came across in your mind?
02:45Change it or just...
02:46Chachibiti.
02:47Okay.
02:49Chachibiti.
02:49Yeah.
02:49Now, Nuri, accepting a new faith can be really scary sometimes, you know.
02:55Especially to your friends, family.
02:58So, how do they accept your decision reverting to Islam?
03:02Why is it scary to them?
03:04People like,
03:04Oh, did you lose friends?
03:06Like, why do I lose friends?
03:08If they are my real friends,
03:09they should support how I'm feeling happy with, right?
03:12So, I don't have any fake friends.
03:15I never allowed myself to have fake friends.
03:18So, the friends that I have,
03:20which is a very small community,
03:22but, yeah, they all support me.
03:24Why not?
03:24Do you find it challenging, you know,
03:26reverting to Islam?
03:27Also, new Muslim family.
03:29How do you remain in Sikoma?
03:32For me,
03:32to keep studying.
03:33Every single day,
03:34even one minute,
03:35or even five minutes,
03:36you try to read Quran,
03:37or maybe Hadith.
03:38Maybe try to learn new verse.
03:40Maybe you do Ikrom,
03:41and every single day,
03:42you just do it.
03:43That's Sikoma.
03:44You put effort in learning new things.
03:47You put effort in touching Quran,
03:49and trying to make it into your life.
03:52That's Sikoma.
03:52So, every single day,
03:54you just do something that's supposed to do.
03:56Like, us, actually,
03:57all the Muslim people.
03:59We all should do it.
04:00But that's,
04:00that's make us keep Sikoma.
04:03Well, your journey is very,
04:04I mean,
04:04I would say visible online.
04:06How did you choose to share this tradition
04:09with your social media followers?
04:12I am not doing this
04:13to become an inspiration to anybody.
04:16I am not like,
04:17whoa,
04:17I'm a leader of inspiration.
04:20I am leader of Sikoma person.
04:22No,
04:22I'm not like that.
04:23I'm a weak person.
04:24Sometimes,
04:25I don't have,
04:26my iman is weak,
04:27and I'm like,
04:27Allah,
04:28please help me.
04:28I want to be closer,
04:29and make my iman stronger.
04:31I'm like this sometimes.
04:32But,
04:34also,
04:34I am actually a very,
04:36I think that I have a very interesting journey.
04:39And,
04:39a lot of people,
04:40some Muslim influencer,
04:42born Muslim,
04:43they have followers who is like,
04:45born Muslim,
04:45or in their country,
04:46right?
04:47But,
04:47I am from a whole different place,
04:49with a different culture.
04:51So,
04:51what I'm doing in social media right now,
04:54is,
04:54just showing the positive side of Islam.
04:57Like,
04:57hey,
04:58I am Muslim,
04:58and then I am happy.
04:59I'm not like,
05:00hey,
05:01this is it,
05:01this and that.
05:02I am not trying to teach anybody,
05:04because I am not,
05:05nobody to teach,
05:06or nobody to guide.
05:07Because,
05:07I'm new Muslim,
05:08I don't have knowledge yet,
05:09and also,
05:10guidance is,
05:11only comes from Allah.
05:13So,
05:13what I'm doing is,
05:14showing that I'm happy,
05:16showing that the Muslim,
05:17like Islam is not scary,
05:18and then maybe,
05:19the person,
05:20who never touched Islam,
05:22will understand in a positive way,
05:24because media,
05:25try to kind of show Islam,
05:27as a dangerous,
05:29or maybe,
05:30they put us in a stereotype,
05:32but,
05:32not always like that,
05:33you know?
05:34So,
05:34I'm just trying to show,
05:35the good side of Islam.
05:37Now,
05:37sharing everything,
05:38I mean,
05:39well,
05:39not everything,
05:40you know,
05:40the good side of Islam,
05:42in social media,
05:43in your account,
05:43what feedback,
05:45do you usually get,
05:46from the followers?
05:47Is it good?
05:47Is it bad?
05:48Good and bad.
05:49It's social media.
05:50It's social media.
05:51Sometimes good,
05:52sometimes bad,
05:53sometimes ugh,
05:54sometimes.
05:54But,
05:57Alhamdulillah,
05:58that means,
05:59people are interested.
06:00Can you share,
06:00just maybe one,
06:02comment that makes you feel like,
06:03it's yucking to you,
06:05to just read it?
06:06So many,
06:07there's not only one,
06:08like,
06:08oh,
06:09you became a human bomb,
06:11or something like this,
06:11I'm like,
06:12huh?
06:13Oh,
06:13you're a terrorist now.
06:15Oh,
06:15you're brainwashed,
06:16like,
06:16huh,
06:16okay.
06:17But it's okay,
06:18some people like this,
06:19and I am not trying to,
06:21be understood by everybody.
06:22How do you take,
06:23those comments?
06:25Don't take.
06:26Because,
06:26let's say,
06:27we are having conversation,
06:29right?
06:29I said something bad,
06:31towards people,
06:32like,
06:32this is work.
06:33Yeah.
06:33Oh,
06:34you are stupid.
06:35If you don't catch it,
06:36it just go down.
06:37Or maybe,
06:38it hit me,
06:39and go back to them.
06:40You know,
06:41if you don't take that,
06:42personally,
06:43like,
06:43okay,
06:43I accept it,
06:45let it go.
06:46Or like,
06:47but,
06:47go down,
06:48or go back.
06:49It's not my,
06:50word.
06:51It's from them,
06:52and it went back to them.
06:53Eventually,
06:53it goes back
06:54to ourselves,
06:55is it?
06:56Yeah,
06:56if they say it,
06:57speak good.
06:59Okay,
06:59now,
07:00one last question,
07:01right?
07:01We want your opinion.
07:02What would your advice
07:03to those that
07:04steal in their sin,
07:06and committing a sin,
07:08and proudly announce
07:09to the public
07:09on their wrongdoings,
07:11because bad influence
07:12lead to bad habits,
07:14right?
07:15I don't know.
07:15I have nobody to say.
07:18Depends,
07:19you know,
07:19because they are doing sins
07:20because they want to,
07:22and if they
07:22don't want to change,
07:24Allah will not change.
07:25Allah only changes
07:26when they want to change.
07:28If they are willing to change,
07:29Allah will.
07:30But if they don't want to change,
07:31Allah will want.
07:32So,
07:32what can I say
07:33to the people
07:34who are sinning,
07:35and they are willing
07:36to keep sinning?
07:37I cannot say
07:37because Allah won't will.
07:39Few words
07:39to those,
07:41I mean,
07:41having struggles today
07:42with whatever
07:43they are committing a sin
07:44or whatever wrongdoings
07:45that they're having right now,
07:46to maybe
07:46find peace
07:47for themselves.
07:49Never give up
07:49on Allah,
07:51subhanahu wa ta'ala,
07:52because
07:52Allah will
07:54never give up
07:54on you
07:55if you don't give up.
07:58Itu dia tadi,
08:00kisah yang sangat
08:01inspiring
08:02sama dengan
08:03Nurai Istiqbal.
