00:27Our team has been eagerly looking forward to putting Acheron in the hands of players,
00:31and we can't wait to show you what we've been working on.
00:34So, let's dive in.
00:39When you play Acheron, the first thing you'll notice is its isometric free-aim camera,
00:43which creates Acheron's high-stakes combat that requires skillful aiming
00:47and navigation of teamfights in close quarters.
00:51Button mashing won't get you a win.
00:53Strategic moment-to-moment gameplay is your path to victory.
00:59Danger can always lurk just beyond your vision,
01:01so to stay ahead of the game,
01:03you'll need to pay close attention to Acheron's audio cues.
01:07I hear enemies.
01:08In every match of Acheron, you have the opportunity to create your own build from scratch.
01:14You'll start with only your fists to defend yourselves,
01:17while you quickly find weapons and abilities from treasure chests,
01:21quests,
01:23monster drugs,
01:25and executed opponents.
01:26Items determine your playstyle for each match,
01:29not roles or character classes.
01:32After a few minutes of gearing up, you'll hear the beacons call.
01:36The time for ascension has begun.
01:39Claim a beacon and fight!
01:42This means you must make your way to one of the many beacons that are now marked on the map.
01:50There aren't enough beacons for everyone,
01:52so if your beacon is contested,
01:54you'll need to take out any other teams that seek to stake their claim on it.
01:59Surrounding each beacon is the Abyssal Storm,
02:01a powerful force that destroys anything in its path.
02:08Your beacon is the safest place to hide from the storm,
02:12but this safety is an illusion,
02:14as you'll almost always be corralled into the path of another enemy team.
02:19If your team stays on the beacon uncontested for 30 seconds,
02:23you'll earn the right to ascend to the next floor.
02:27As you climb the tower, teams are eliminated,
02:29leaving the final two to battle it out on the top floor
02:32and determine which team will be victorious.
02:36The teams that make it here are the ones who work together,
02:39call their shots, strategize their positions,
02:42and create their builds together.
02:44Think of Acheron like a game of deadly musical chairs
02:47with super fun items and abilities.
02:50Speaking of which, let's talk about creating your build.
02:54Your build will consist of four items,
02:56a crown, an amulet, and two whippets.
03:00Each item grants you abilities that determine your gameplay style.
03:04Whether your preference is hammers, spears, crossbows, daggers, ice, fire, slams, throws, piercing, and so on.
03:12These items, or relics as we call them, are the heroes of Acheron.
03:15There are many items with unique abilities that you can mix and match and complement each other in a variety of ways.
03:23Some are part of a four-item set.
03:26If you collect two items from a single set, you'll be granted a set bonus, a buff that offers you an advantage.
03:34You can even pick up two items from one set and two items from another to receive two set bonuses.
03:41If you collect all four items from a set, you can transform into an eternal, which will unlock a fifth ability.
03:48However, the trade-off is that you cannot leave that form for the remainder of the match.
03:52Acheron is all about finding the items that work for your play style and synergizing them with your team.
04:00There are thousands of possible item combinations, and the more times you cycle through the tower, the more possibilities you'll uncover.
04:08These cycles are a core part of Acheron. Just as one battle is ending, another begins.
04:16In fact, some deaths are not endings at all. If your teammates survive, there are numerous comeback mechanics.
04:24You're not out until your team's out, so don't recue until it's over.
04:29If you're genuinely out, just recue with your team or find new and worthy allies to start the cycle anew.
04:35Once again, the tower falls. What you take and what you leave behind will shape your fate.
04:40Acheron is currently in Alpha, which means we're still finishing up a few things, so you may see some work-in-progress content and things we're still experimenting with.
04:52During the Alpha playtests, we're inviting you to join our community and try to break our game by helping us find the edge cases while we work towards launching on PC and console next year.
