00:00I know your oldest son is behind the wheel, probably behind the wheel for a couple of years now.
00:03Do you remember that first time that the two of you got in the car together and what was kind of going through your head?
00:08Yeah, I was, I love seeing the kids grow up and kind of go from these kids that were totally dependent to kids that are very independent.
00:16So driving is one of those things.
00:19And it's great when you're sitting there as a dad looking across and your boy is doing it all by himself.
00:25And he's a very responsible driver. He's a very good driver.
00:28So unfortunately, I haven't had much to worry about with him on the streets.
00:33That's good. You're not holding on for dear life then.
00:35That was like my mom. My mom used to literally hold on with both hands.
00:38And I'd be like, mom. And I'd look over at the car and say, mom, put your hands down.
00:42And she would just, it was so cute, you know, that she would just hold on to that thing for dear life.
00:48I love it. Like you said, you know, as your kids get older, is it ever hard for you as they get older to kind of let go a little bit?
00:54Or are you always like, oh, I just want to hold on a little bit longer?
00:56Oh, no, I'm ready to kick them out the door. I'm like, here you go.
00:59Like, it's time for you to get off and get your responsibilities done.
01:03And me micromanaging, you know, not so much anymore.
01:07But they're growing up and they're all, kids are amazing blessing for all of us.
01:11So they're just maturing well and try to be their coach sometimes, try to be their teammates sometimes,
01:17and just try to be available and present from as often as possible.
01:21Definitely. I know, you know, your son just turned 18. He's an adult now.
01:26What do you hope is like that one piece of advice that he'll listen to as he enters these adult years?
01:31He's got to listen to his own intuition, you know, and what he wants to do.
01:35And I think if I just even look at my life, I was so fortunate to find a career that I loved.
01:41It never felt like work. It just felt like I got to go out with my teammates
01:44and enjoy the process of trying to improve and the process of trying to be a great teammate.
01:49And you learn so many valuable lessons about life going through, you know,
01:54the ups and downs of a football season.
01:57And, you know, then I try to transfer everything I learned in one part of my career.
02:01And then when I retired, to try to move it to other areas that I find a lot of joy in still.
02:07And I do that with Fox in my role with them.
02:10I love being on TV broadcasting every week in front of 30 million people.
02:16So it's a lot of things for me to be excited about.
02:19100%. I know, you know, your son recently kind of went viral.
02:23You posted a picture of the two of you and it was like the same person.
02:26Does it ever feel like kind of looking in the mirror?
02:29I know. You know what? He is a – I love being his dad and he's a great kid.
02:34So I'm just – I feel so blessed.
02:36I always tell him, man, you just always blow your dad away and his choices and his values and who he is
02:42and how his friends talk about him.
02:44And I just hear great compliments from other parents that, you know,
02:47it's nice to hear when you're not around, you know, how other people, you know,
02:51how he's – how he deals with his own unique challenges.
02:54So I'm certainly a very proud dad.
