C3SC, the Cardiff Third Sector Council, helps build the foundations of charities all across Cardiff. They provide support for new charities, and help volunteers get involved where they can. Every year they host an annual awards night, and they’re looking for nominations for this year’s event.

00:00The amount of activity, the amount of good that is done by volunteers in Cardiff alone
00:06is almost incalculable. Like, we can't really comprehend the scale of it. And I think this
00:14sort of event also helps us to place ourselves in that context, to see and meet other volunteers
00:20and see, oh my gosh, like, this many volunteers are doing fantastic work in the city in just one
00:27year. There are hundreds of different charities and charitable organisations all around Cardiff.
00:32It can be hard for people to start charities, hard to maintain funding and membership, but one team
00:37are making it easier for people to get set up. Cardiff's Third Sector Council, otherwise known
00:41as C3SC, say they do what they can to help charities all across the city. Yep, so Cardiff Third Sector
00:48Council, also known as C3SC, is the local infrastructure organisation for the charity
00:53sector here in the capital city. What that really means is that we're here to support community
00:59and voluntary action. And that'll be everything from helping groups set up, so helping them
01:03learn how to write a constitution, register with the charity commission, how to run a board,
01:09so a board of trustees, all the way through to helping them get funding and also helping
01:14them collectivise their voice and raise the profile of the charity sector. And then my team
01:20within the volunteer centre is going to do everything volunteering. There are absolutely
01:25loads of charities and Kylie says it's amazing to see so many people do so much good all across
01:30the city. So local groups will get free membership with us. We have over 1,300 members, so that's
01:37over 1,300 local organisations, so all the way from really small, non-constituted groups,
01:45all the way up through sort of national charities as well. And so you can imagine there's a huge
01:51diversity and a huge breadth of activity that happens within all those different organisations.
01:57As C3SC, we help administer the Volunteering Wales platform. C3SC hold an annual awards night to
02:04recognise the hard work of people from all over Cardiff. They're encouraging people to nominate
02:08charities and share stories of how different groups and organisations are changing people's lives
02:13in the capital. The Cardiff Volunteer Awards are a huge part of that. So this will be the seventh
02:18year that we've run the Cardiff Volunteer Awards and it's really one of our flagship events.
02:25We know that a lot of organisations across the city maybe don't have capacity to kind of put on
02:32award ceremonies or to put on thank you events for their volunteers. That's the reality of the funding
02:37climate right now. And so we definitely see part of our role as this local CVC in recognising and
02:44celebrating voluntary action. So yeah, seventh year running the awards. It is a nomination process,
02:51so people from the local area, people from the community, people from local groups
02:56can nominate individuals or groups to the awards.
