The death toll of the 6.9 magnitude earthquake in the Philippines' Cebu province stayed at 69 as of Wednesday (Oct 1) evening.

Authorities said they are intensifying their search and rescue efforts in the crucial first 24 hours when survivors trapped in the rubble could still be saved.
