00:01I am pleased to inform the country that this afternoon,

00:04the United Nations Security Council

00:06finally listened to the complaint we have been making for some time.

00:12Given the ineffectiveness of the current international mission in support of the Haitian Police,

00:16and passed a new resolution,

00:18creating another force appropriately named

00:21Gang Suppression Force with a contingent of 5,500 personnel.

00:27The resolution also grants a broad and solid mandate to said force.

00:33and places in the hands of United Nations experts

00:36the logistical and operational aspects that will be financed from the UN budget,

00:42granting greater stability and effectiveness to said operation.

00:46We will work for an accelerated transition to the new MSS,

00:51to the new Gang Suppression Force in Haiti,

00:54and in that sense we will closely monitor this process.

00:59We also wish to recognize the three former presidents,

01:02Leonel Fernandez, Hipólito Mejia and Danilo Medina,

01:05who signed jointly with the speaker

01:08a letter addressed to the 15 presidents of the countries

01:11that make up the United Nations Security Council.

01:15Finally, we thank all members of the Security Council

01:20for the adoption of this resolution and in particular to the United States and Panama,

01:25countries that lead the issue of Haiti in that Council.
