00:00This has been dubbed the AI Epilepsy Detective, which basically can find tiny legions in the
00:07brain about the size of a blueberry and help uncover the telltale signs of epilepsy. Now
00:12this was led by the Royal Children's Hospital here in Melbourne and also the Murdoch Children's
00:17Research Institute. 71 children and 23 adults took part in the study and the bulk of those,
00:23about 94%, are already showing promising signs. Now researchers say that this can help neurosurgeons
00:28get involved in the picture earlier and help with early detection of epilepsy. About a dozen
00:34of those children that took part in the study have gone on to have life-changing surgery and now
00:38aren't experiencing multiple seizures every day. Researchers are hoping to roll this out at
00:43paediatric hospitals across the nation and it means big developments for one in 200 Australian
00:50children who experience epilepsy.
