Transcript
00:00In the heart of Karachi's industrial landscape, where fabric is woven into fashion, another,
00:09more vital thread is being carefully managed, the thread of water.
00:14For Denomy, a leading textile manufacturer, water is not merely a utility, it is a sacred trust.
00:22The journey towards true sustainability is one that must be walked with partners.
00:28Recently, Denomy had the privilege of hosting a delegation of international experts,
00:34representing the German Importers Association, Fruit for Sustainability, and PRGMEA.
00:40Their mission was to witness firsthand a model of industrial water stewardship that is as rigorous as it is responsible.
00:50This is the story of that water, from its source, through its use, to its renewal.
01:05Every sustainable water story begins with transparency.
01:32Denomy meticulously tracks its water intake, drawing a clear line between the local resources
01:39and its operational need.
01:41The facility utilizes two primary streams, domestic water for its nearly 1,000 employees
01:48and a much larger volume of process water essential for dyeing and finishing the denim
01:53that is its specialty.
01:56In a single year, this amounts to over 1.6 million liters for domestic use and a significant
02:0327.8 million liters for production.
02:07Acknowledging this scale is the first crucial step in managing it responsibly.
02:13For the visiting delegates, this level of precise data, amounting to a total freshwater intake
02:18of nearly 30 million liters, demonstrated a commitment to baseline honesty, a foundation
02:24upon which all conservation is built.
02:43Within the production halls, water is the lifeblood of creation.
02:48But here, efficiency is the guiding principle.
02:52Denomy's water saving program is actively integrated into its daily operations.
02:58Through advanced, low-licker ratio dyeing machines and optimized washing techniques, the company
03:04strives to minimize water use per garment.
03:08The success of this program is captured in a powerful metric, the process water footprint.
03:15For every single garment produced at Denomy, only 8.37 liters of water are consumed.
03:22In the notoriously water-intensive denim industry, this figure is a testament to a culture of
03:28conservation.
03:30It signals to partners like Fruit for Sustainability that Denomy is deeply committed to reducing the
03:36environmental impact of every product, ensuring that fruits of their labor are born from responsibility.
04:03The most critical chapter in Denomy's water narrative unfolds at its own, company-owned effluent
04:09treatment plant.
04:11This is where waste is transformed into resource.
04:15The ETP, with a capacity of 24 cubic meters per hour, employs a sophisticated chemical and
04:21biochemical process to treat every drop of wastewater generated from production.
04:28But the story doesn't end with mere treatment.
04:31The true innovation lies in what happens next.
04:35The treated water is then channeled through an advanced reverse osmosis plant.
04:40This RO system acts as a final, ultra-fine filter, purifying the water to a standard that
04:46often exceeds that of the incoming freshwater.
04:50This isn't just about meeting regulatory standards for discharge, it's about creating a new, pristine
04:57water source within the factory walls.
05:04This is your advice and ensure that protection is a real- ะปัŽะฑะปัŽ-felt
05:13system, mentoring level
05:31Regular testing of both the treated water and the resulting ETP sludge ensures full compliance and environmental safety,
05:57a key point of scrutiny for technical experts from PRGMEA.
06:03This is where the loop closes.
06:06The high-quality water produced by the RO plant is not wasted.
06:10A substantial portion is reused within the production cycle itself.
06:16This direct recycling dramatically reduces the factory's demand for fresh groundwater,
06:21creating a circular system that conserves a vast amount of water year after year.
06:27The water that is discharged, having passed through both the ETP and RO processes,
06:33is of such high quality that it minimizes any impact on the local ecosystem.
06:38This holistic approach, from reducing consumption at the source to treating and reusing wastewater,
06:46exemplifies the kind of supply chain transparency and environmental management that the German Importers Association actively seeks out.
06:54It transforms Denami from a water consumer into a water steward.
