00:00It's ironic because you should feel the same regardless. How does something like hair have
00:08such an impact on how you do yourself, but it does. I just like my hair like myself. My hair
00:15like myself, my own style. And I like my own style. I think the hairstyle is also like out,
00:26like naturally out, but I also like when I straighten my hair because then you can
00:31like really see the length of it. It's like really pretty. I usually get braids
00:36because braids make my hair long. Some of my friends don't really recognize me with this hair.
00:42Do you recognize me with your hair? Sometimes. Why not? Because I kind of look a little
00:49different with this hair on. Because if my hair is not done then maybe I'm not going
00:55to certain places or if I don't think my hair is super done like to my standards then I'm not
01:01going. My colleagues were like, what's wrong with your hair? That's just how I felt like
01:07wearing it that day. Did that discourage you from wearing your hair again like that?
01:13Yeah, it did. Honestly, to be candid, I feel that my hair is done and this is not like ideal,
01:22but I think this is something that I've learned growing up. It's either I feel like my hair is done
01:27when I either have a weave in or if I have my natural hair and it's pressed out.
01:32If your hair wasn't done, you look ugly. You can't step out of my house representing me and looking ugly.
01:40So I think when I now that I'm thinking about it definitely has a lot to do with how I was raised and
01:45how I was taught to view myself and my hair.
01:47Well, sometimes I wish I had their hair and then sometimes I love my hair though.
01:54I feel like I've struggled so much with feeling like myself based on what my hair looks like and what
02:01my hair, the state of my hair, what I feel like personally has changed a lot over time. I feel like
02:08I've settled in this nice little cozy nest. Once I got my hair locked in, the more that my hair grows.
02:15And just a sense of accepting myself and my hair in its natural state and celebrating it rather than
02:22fighting it. If you identify and you know who you really are and you stand on it,
02:28people will embrace you. You're real you.
02:45That's it.
