00:00:00A very good morning to all our viewers. You're watching First Up on India Today.
00:00:04I'm Anjali Pandey. Lots lined up for you in this bulletin.
00:00:07But at the top of this hour, we're getting some breaking news.
00:00:14U.S. President Donald Trump praises Pakistani Prime Minister and Jihadi General Aasem Munir.
00:00:19Trump calls Pakistani Prime Minister and Munir incredible.
00:00:23Trump goes on to say that Pakistani Prime Minister and Aasem Munir were with them from the beginning.
00:00:28So U.S. President Donald Trump has praised Pakistan's Shahbaz Sharif and Aasem Munir as he announces Gaza peace plan.
00:00:36And the President said that the Prime Minister, the Pakistan Prime Minister and Field Marshal from Pakistan were with the United States from the beginning.
00:00:45They're incredible. This is what U.S. President Donald Trump has said while praising the Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and also the Jihadi General Aasem Munir.
00:00:58The Prime Minister and the Field Marshal of Pakistan, they were with us right from the beginning.
00:01:10Incredible. In fact, they just put out a statement that they fully believe in this.
00:01:15The PAC just came out just as I was walking around.
00:01:18They said, sir, you have a big notice from the Prime Minister of Pakistan and from the Field Marshal that they backed this 100 percent.
00:01:28And we're now getting some more breaking news.
00:01:37This is regarding the Asia Cup 2025.
00:01:40We're learning that India will be raising the Asia Cup trophy, Rao, at the Asian Cricket Council meet.
00:01:46Sources are indicating that BCCI will put a step forward about what happened during finals on Sunday night.
00:01:54So remember, India won the Asia Cup 2025 tournament, but they were not given the trophy as India had said.
00:02:02That India will not accept the trophy from Mohsi Nakhvi, who's the ACC chief.
00:02:08But the trophy was then taken away and India did not get the Asia Cup trophy.
00:02:15And now we're learning that India will be raising this issue at the Asian Cricket Council meeting.
00:02:21Sources are indicating that BCCI will put a step forward about what happened on Sunday night post-match.
00:02:29Days after the stampede in Karoor left dozens dead, Tamil Nadu police have arrested three people for allegedly inflammatory social media posts.
00:02:54Adding to the tragedy, a 51-year-old TVK functionary has allegedly died by suicide,
00:03:00leaving behind a note blaming the state's inadequate police protection
00:03:04and directly holding Minister Sendhal Balaji responsible for the chaos.
00:03:08Now this, Amit demands from the opposition for a CBI probe into the incident.
00:03:13Meanwhile, AIA-DMK chief Edapati Palani Swami has launched a scathing attack on the DMK,
00:03:19accusing Chief Minister Stalin of indulging in photoshoot politics.
00:03:22EPS has also questioned the Deputy Chief Minister Udyaniti Stalin's Dubai trip right after visiting the hospital.
00:03:30In response, the DMK hit back strongly, accusing EPS of hypocrisy.
00:03:35Now, Education Minister Anbil Mahesh has alleged that AIA-DMK leaders staged political drama
00:03:40during former Chief Minister Jail Alita's hospitalisation
00:03:43and even used a dummy body in a bipole campaign to garner sympathy.
00:03:49Now, as the state mourns and politics over the stampede peaks,
00:03:53the man at the centre, TVK chief Vijay, remains missing from public view.
00:03:57There are multiple requests from multiple sources.
00:04:03Governor has sought a report and this government has constituted a one-woman commission.
00:04:08They have already started the inquiry on the ground.
00:04:11Multiple requests at multiple times will not do justice for this.
00:04:15It has to be one cause and one action.
00:04:17Because even TVK has filed the National Human Rights Commission to take up this case.
00:04:23So, multiple requests for multiple agencies will definitely not do any justice.
00:04:29The president of the National Human Rights Commission
00:04:59Jyothi Mani, how do you look at these allegations of negligence on the part of TVK
00:05:27and actor Vijay himself?
00:05:30Because reports are suggesting that TVK had asked the lights to be switched off during the rally.
00:05:35He left the spot without even extending sympathy and basic empathy to the families of these victims.
00:05:40And now his party has approached the Madras High Court demanding CBI probe.
00:05:45Is that the way forward? Let there be a CBI inquiry.
00:05:49See, the CBI probe is completely a political stunt in my view.
00:05:54Already there is a phone member committee.
00:05:55The committee has been, this judge is not new to committees.
00:06:00Already they have given a Toothukudi shootout report also.
00:06:04So why, there is already inquiry has been ordered.
00:06:07Why there is need for CBI inquiry, I don't understand.
00:06:10First of all, this is politicizing issue.
00:06:12See, I don't want to politicize the issue because my people are at loss.
00:06:17We lost lives.
00:06:19Actually, as a society, we couldn't comprehend what we are going through.
00:06:22But what actually literally pained me is actually people are doing politics over my people's dead body.
00:06:30So that's what made me very, very, very aggrieved.
00:06:34And I feel very, how do you say, I feel very bad what's happening, what happened to us is something which we are going through.
00:06:44What's happening after that also, actually, we are very, very painful to see these things.
00:06:49See, it's a very simple thing I'm saying.
00:06:51See, when crowds are so much, then you are a political person or even from police side.
00:06:58See, we should, our first priority should be the safety of the people.
00:07:02Maybe you can cancel the rally.
00:07:04Maybe you can do an alternate arrangement.
00:07:08You may stop the car outside.
00:07:10There are many things.
00:07:11Even if it's happened, nobody come to the intention of killing people.
00:07:14So that is completely nonsense theories and social media say.
00:07:19So at least some, you know, some party people are dying.
00:07:22The basic thing is to stand with them, right?
00:07:25Yes.
00:07:26Yes.
00:07:26So if you're not standing with them, then going and asking a CBI inquiry is not correct.
00:07:31You know how CBI is.
00:07:32See, ED being used against all the opposition parties.
00:07:36This, in this PJP government, whether ED or CPI or income tax, all used as a political tools.
00:07:41I don't want a political tool deployed on my people, on my place, on our law.
00:07:54And we're now getting some breaking news.
00:07:56TVK leader Adhav tweets, Pats Rao, who claims that there was lathi charge on those walking on road
00:08:04and arrest of those sharing thoughts on the social media.
00:08:08He also said that alleged youth will rise just like in Sri Lanka and Nepal against the government.
00:08:16He also says that such a revolution will change the government.
00:08:20That's the remark that TVK leader Adhav Arjun is making.
00:08:24He has claimed that there was lathi charge on those who were walking on the road on the stampede day
00:08:30and arrest of those sharing thoughts on social media.
00:08:34Remember, three people have been arrested for inflammatory posts in the Karoos stampede case.
00:08:40And he also alleged that youth will rise just like in Sri Lanka and Nepal against the government.
00:08:47My colleague, Pramod Madhav is now joining us with more details on this.
00:08:50Pramod's caving attack by the TMK against the DMK government on the three arrests that have been made for alleged inflammatory posts.
00:08:59And the TVK leader has also said that the youth will rise just like in Sri Lanka and Nepal against the government.
00:09:06Certainly, the kind of like important point here is that like such a remarkable race against the government
00:09:12and he says that people who are walking on the road would lathi charge
00:09:15and now like people who have been like sharing their thoughts on social media have been suggested.
00:09:21But the bigger point is that he has also shared an image along with this particular tweet
00:09:26that has also become an issue currently because that image actually shows a policeman
00:09:31trying to hit a TVK carrier over there.
00:09:34But however, on the background, if you see, there is actually an ambulance that is also standing.
00:09:40So that has turned out to be an issue because earlier we also showed how like TVK carriers
00:09:45were actually trying to not allow the especially ambulances to go over there or something.
00:09:50So that could be a reason that he did not, that he has lived in the tweet.
00:09:54And that has, now, the DNK has not taken it lightly because earlier, just like you mentioned,
00:09:5725 people were noted for spreading false propaganda or kind of like causing issues using this particular tragedy.
00:10:05And the Chief Minister, Tim Sir M. K. Saran, actually went ahead and kind of issued a warning and a request
00:10:10that such things should not be done.
00:10:12I think the one-man commission is actually being like, you know, going to hear this particular matter
00:10:16that's what we've seen as initiating an investigation.
00:10:18Amidst this, Adhavarjuna, a top reader from TVK, has said that like a huge revolution would occur
00:10:24just like how you saw in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
00:10:27And that will only bring like a government change and end, he claims that state-sponsored terrorism.
00:10:34So that is why he's facing the backlash from DNK currently.
00:10:37But amidst this, he has deleted the tweet now.
00:10:40All right, Pramod, thank you for getting us those details.
00:10:44In fact, we'll keep coming back to you for more updates on the story.
00:10:50And now, shifting focus.
00:10:52Days after protests rocked Ladakh and four locals lost their lives in the same,
00:10:57the lay Apex body has announced that it will boycott the scheduled talks with the centre.
00:11:02It has demanded an impartial judicial probe into the firing by security forces on September 24.
00:11:07It has also sought centre's apology for labelling Ladakhis as anti-nationals.
00:11:13Not just that, it has also called for an unconditional release of Sonam Vangchuk.
00:11:18The next round of talks between the centre and representatives of Ladakh,
00:11:21including members of the lay Apex body,
00:11:24and the Kargil Democratic Alliance was scheduled for October 6.
00:11:28Meanwhile, Sonam Vangchuk's wife has said charges against her husband are baseless.
00:11:33She affirmed Vangchuk's commitment to Gandhian principles
00:11:35and also stated that he had fully cooperated with the CBI.
00:11:40On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Umar Abdullah
00:11:42has sounded a stern warning to the centre,
00:11:45saying that a lay-like situation must never unfold in the valley.
00:11:49He reminded that statehood is not a favour,
00:11:52but a promise which the state has to fulfil.
00:11:54In fact, India Today spoke with Sonam Vangchuk's wife.
00:12:01Listen in.
00:12:04He was very weak after the 15 days of strike
00:12:08and then to be taken by the police,
00:12:12it's very, very painful.
00:12:15And more painful is the fact that for the last 48 hours,
00:12:20I have not been in touch with him.
00:12:23The police here had promised that after the land in Jodhpur,
00:12:26they would make him speak to me or they would speak to me.
00:12:30But I'm still awaiting the call.
00:12:33Neither have they given us the detention order.
00:12:35Not just me, but everybody in Ladakh or in India
00:12:38who would hear of these charges would laugh at them
00:12:41because these are absolutely baseless charges.
00:12:45The whole country has seen that for the past five years,
00:12:49he has been leading this movement and this protest
00:12:52in the most peaceful, in the most Gandhian way possible,
00:12:56be it his padhyatras, be it his ancians.
00:12:58And he's always followed the path of nonviolence and peace.
00:13:04So everybody is aghast and know that this has been deliberately done
00:13:12to frame him because given his past record and his methods,
00:13:18he always stood for progress, for science, for innovation,
00:13:22for climate work, for patriotism, working for Indian Army,
00:13:27asking Indians to boycott China.
00:13:30So everybody knows him as a great innovator, as a patriot,
00:13:35as a nationalist.
00:13:36So to be taken in NSA, which is the most draconian act,
00:13:41and for public safety, I mean, it is not just to me,
00:13:46everybody knows that this is just have been used by people in power
00:13:52to use the national machinery that they have working for them
00:13:56to unnecessarily defame and frame the person who is the pride of India.
00:14:03Sodom Wangchuk and I are the people who run this not-for-profit organization
00:14:10in a manner that we do not take even salaries.
00:14:15So every year, we contribute 50 lakhs to 1 crore of our personal money
00:14:21into these projects.
00:14:23So we are always welcoming of anyone who wants to look into our accounts,
00:14:29which have been duly, you know, submitted to the registrar of companies,
00:14:34to the IT department.
00:14:36It would be evident that till date,
00:14:38Mr. Sonam Wangchuk would have contributed not less than 5 CR
00:14:41to the projects that he is doing.
00:14:44So, when you are giving your own money,
00:14:47then where is the money to launder?
00:14:49And money laundering is, by definition,
00:14:52using Havala and cash transactions and all of that.
00:14:56And our bank statements, which are there with the CBI and with the IT,
00:15:01clearly shows that more than 99% of our transactions happen online
00:15:07through bank transfers.
00:15:08So there is no cash transactions,
00:15:10and when we are putting in our own money,
00:15:13where is the money to launder?
00:15:14You know, so all these are just big words
00:15:17because a common Indian or a common citizen
00:15:22would not have access to these documents
00:15:25and he or she would be, you know,
00:15:27suddenly it would be like defamation happening
00:15:31and they are using it as a smoke screen,
00:15:34you know, using these big words.
00:15:35So it was not a CBI raid.
00:15:37When CBI came here, they said we are fact-finding
00:15:40and we were completely cooperative with them
00:15:43and we gave them all the, you know, documents.
00:15:46And I can have that gentleman, Mr. Vishal,
00:15:50who came here, you know, online to check with him
00:15:53if it was something that was not given to him.
00:15:55So when you have nothing to hide
00:15:57and when you cooperate and you give all the details,
00:16:00then the only thing, and everybody knows,
00:16:02that this is the way they use, as I said,
00:16:05the entire machinery, you know,
00:16:07because they are slowly building up
00:16:09and trying to frame.
00:16:10And it is not something that started,
00:16:12though it might have intensified in the last one month,
00:16:15but this has started in the last four years,
00:16:18ever since he started his anshan.
00:16:19You know, they have delayed our registration with the UGC.
00:16:25Mr. Dharmendra Pradhan,
00:16:26who is the Education Minister of India,
00:16:28openly told me that he will not move our file
00:16:32because still Sonam Wangchuk is asking for sick schedule.
00:16:35They have called up all the heads of PSUs
00:16:38and told them not to support us with their CSR funds.
00:16:42This is those very, you know, we got to know from them.
00:16:45They have tried to stall all our registrations,
00:16:49including the FCRA for HAYAL.
00:16:51And now they are saying that FCRA has been violated by HAYAL.
00:16:55It hasn't been because FCRA is needed only for donations.
00:16:59But the funds that we have received
00:17:01is for research that we conducted for those universities.
00:17:06And for the government, it should be a matter of pride
00:17:09because no foreign university takes research from India.
00:17:13HAYAL is the only institute which does reverse technology transfer.
00:17:19And now shifting focus,
00:17:21civil unrest erupts in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
00:17:24Pakistan-occupied Kashmir is on the boil,
00:17:27people defying Islamabad's writ
00:17:29and the Shehbar Sharif government responding with force.
00:17:32In one of the biggest unrest in recent years,
00:17:34thousands took to the streets across the region,
00:17:37including Musabharabad, Meirpur, Kotli and Neelam Valley.
00:17:41The flashpoint? Refugee seats in the POK assembly
00:17:45that locals say robbed them of their voice.
00:17:48Islamabad has flatly refused to strap them.
00:17:51The civil unrest is being led by an organization,
00:17:54Awami Action Committee,
00:17:55which called an indefinite strike,
00:17:57shutter down and wheel jam.
00:17:59By midnight, internet was suspended
00:18:01and the region slipped into a virtual lockdown.
00:18:03But what shocked many,
00:18:06eyewitnesses say the Pakistan army
00:18:08and ISI-backed goons opened fire on unarmed protesters.
00:18:12One person is confirmed dead,
00:18:14whereas nine others are injured.
00:18:16Opposition is on the ground
00:18:18and Shehbar Sharif's crackdown on innocence
00:18:20has only inflamed public anger.
00:18:23This is what the opposition is claiming.
00:18:25The AAC has now suspended its stir,
00:18:28but only until October 15,
00:18:30when they have vowed to return stronger.
00:18:33The Awami Action Committee alleges
00:18:35that their basic rights are being denied
00:18:37by the Shehbar's government,
00:18:39demanding that refugee seats be scrapped
00:18:41while also protesting food and power rates,
00:18:44alleging decades of neglect and corruption.
00:18:46The Awami Action Committee
00:19:16that they are killed in the areas of the country.
00:19:19And our Pakistan media is making news
00:19:21and our entire media is making news.
00:19:22The entire government is about to be a program
00:19:24that we have in our country
00:19:25and have a program to be a program.
00:19:27This is the time of a government
00:19:29to be on our country.
00:19:30Many people who are our government
00:19:32and have a government
00:19:32by using our government.
00:19:32If someone has got a program,
00:19:34if someone has got a card,
00:19:35to be able to make this card,
00:19:37or to make this card,
00:19:38if someone has got a card,
00:19:39then you can have a card.
00:19:41Why are there going to be a card?
00:19:41And when the Awami Action Committee
00:19:42will be a card,
00:19:43and that will be a card.

00:20:11This is the police coming from here.
00:20:15We will go to that side so that it can be recognized.
00:20:21This is the situation. You can see the back side.
00:20:25This is the police coming from here.
00:20:28Pardon, I'll be right back.
00:20:30We have been firing in the Muzafrabad in the area of Neelam Pool.
00:20:34The Muslim Conference was firing.
00:20:37The Muslim community has been saying it.
00:20:40The Muslim community has sent the shutdowns.
00:20:42The Muslim community has been in the area.
00:20:44The Muslim community has been in the area.
00:20:46The Muslim community community has been in the area.
00:20:49What happened?
00:20:50The Muslim community community is standing here.
00:20:54He was waiting for another.
00:20:56We had to clear this.
00:20:58When we have to signal you,
00:21:00you will be in the area.
00:21:02The people of the country will stand here.
00:21:04native
00:21:29side
00:21:33We are now getting some breaking news. Gandhi's statue in London has been vandalized.
00:22:00The Indian Mission strongly condemns the violent act, the print of the iconic statue which depicts the father of the nation in a seated meditative pose was discovered, dogged with some disturbing graffiti.
00:22:13That's the breaking news that's coming in from London.
00:22:16The High Commission of India has strongly condemned the vandalism of the Mahatma Gandhi statue at Tavistock Square in London.
00:22:23And remember, this comes just days before the annual Gandhi Jayanti celebrations that are scheduled to be held at the site on October 2nd.
00:22:32So just two to three days before the Gandhi celebrations, the annual Gandhi Jayanti celebrations that are all set to be held at the Tavistock Square in London,
00:22:42where learning that the Gandhi statue has been vandalized and the Indian High Commission has strongly condemned this violent act.
00:22:50Getting some breaking news, it's U.S. President Donald Trump versus the Indian film industry now.
00:22:59Donald Trump has slapped 100% tariff on non-U.S. made films.
00:23:04In fact, Trump has claimed that other countries stole business from the United States.
00:23:09Goes on to say that other countries stole business like stealing candy from the baby.
00:23:14So after 50% tariff on export goods and 100% tariff on pharmaceutical products,
00:23:22now in the latest, Donald Trump has imposed 100% tariff on non-U.S. made films.
00:23:28He said that other countries stole business from the United States and they stole business like stealing candy from baby.
00:23:36That's the latest development.
00:23:37The United States has slapped 100% tariff on non-U.S. made films and this move is going to impact the Bollywood industry,
00:23:47the Tollywood industry as a lot of NRIs spend a huge amount in the United States to watch these movies.
00:23:55We'll understand the impact of this move.
00:23:57But remember, this comes after the U.S. imposed 100% tariffs on pharmaceutical products
00:24:02and that is in addition to the 50% tariff that has already been imposed by the United States on India.
00:24:11India Today Global's Pranay Upadhyay is now joining us with more details on this.
00:24:15Pranay, help us understand how is this 100% tariff on non-U.S. made films that has now been imposed by Donald Trump
00:24:23going to impact the Indian film industry.
00:24:26Anjali, everyone is grappling to understand that how it is going to work
00:24:32because in modern days, the filmmaking is a digital production and it works across the continent.
00:24:38It works, you know, in various countries and even the U.S. production houses,
00:24:43the major production houses like Warner Brothers, Paramount or Columbia,
00:24:47these film production houses distribute and they delegate the digital production work
00:24:54like graphics and animation to some other part of the world,
00:24:58you know, some part of the crew recruitment and other things to the other part of the world.
00:25:03And in fact, the co-production also exists that, you know, to cater the global audience.
00:25:09This also works.
00:25:10So nobody knows that how it is going to work because the White House has not clarified as yet.
00:25:14President Donald Trump only posted on Truth Social that he is going to implement the 100% tariff
00:25:20on foreign-made films.
00:25:21And the impact is that the Netflix share has gone, you know, around 2% down in early trading.
00:25:30And after that, if you see the impact is that there are worries that how it is going to impact.
00:25:38But certainly, you know, country like India is also going to get impacted in some way or other
00:25:44because we are not only part of the global filmmaking chain for the Hollywood
00:25:49because, you know, many high-end animation films or many of the films like Avengers
00:25:57whose VFX, the visuals and graphics work was, you know, done in India.
00:26:02So it is going to get impacted.
00:26:05And besides that, many of the Indian films also, you know, Indian diaspora is around 2%
00:26:10of the U.S. population.
00:26:12And therefore, you know, many Indian films, be it the Bollywood films or the Telugu films,
00:26:19Tamil films, Malayalam, Bengali films and Punjabi films, they see overseas market.
00:26:24The United States as an important overseas market.
00:26:27And South Asians are also in large numbers.
00:26:30So, like, you know, Tamil films are not only watched by Indians there,
00:26:34but the other diaspora of Lankan origin as well.
00:26:38Absolutely.
00:26:39Pranay, thank you so much for getting us those details and for that context.
00:26:43With that, we're now shifting focus.
00:26:44We're getting some more breaking news.
00:26:45CPI General Secretary's big Naxal backing on camera.
00:26:59D. Raja says government must accept Naxal proposal.
00:27:02In fact, he also questioned government's Naxal Mukherjee idea.
00:27:06He said that we should remove BJP and RSS from power.
00:27:11That's the statement that has been made by CPI General Secretary D. Raja.
00:27:15And remember, this comes just a day after Hominist Amit Shah ruled out ceasefire with the Naxals.
00:27:21So, that's the breaking news that's coming in.
00:27:23CPI General Secretary's big Naxal backing.
00:27:26Caught on camera, D. Raja says that the government must accept the proposal of ceasefire from the Naxals.
00:27:32And in fact, he also said that we should remove BJP and RSS from the power.
00:27:37I demand that the government should accept the proposal made by the Maoists, Naxals.
00:27:49What is this Naxal Mukherjee?
00:27:51Already they spoke about Congress Mukherjee.
00:27:54What happened to Congress Mukherjee?
00:27:56Now Naxal Mukherjee.
00:27:58Tomorrow they will say Communist Mukherjee.
00:28:00If BJP and RSS combined continues to be in power, the future of India will be in peril.
00:28:11The future of India will be in peril.
00:28:13If we want to save India, save the Constitution, we should see that we should remove BJP RSS from power.
00:28:22And my colleague Jitendra Bahadur is now joining us on the story with more details.
00:29:04We've also given these actions that way we need to make a solution that we need to do so much.
00:29:14When we have a solution, we will have to make a solution we need to make a solution.
00:29:51Yes, Jitendra, thank you very much for your knowledge.
00:29:59So, the CPI General Secretary's big statement backing the Naxals.
00:30:03He has said that the government must accept a proposal of ceasefire by the Naxals
00:30:08and he has also questioned the Naxal Mukt Bharat idea of the government.
00:30:21And we're getting some breaking news.
00:30:34This is regarding the TVK chief Vijay's stampede in Karoo.
00:30:38Now, TVK has questions, Vijay Rally's stampede, deaths, questions, inquest, report on those who died in the stampede.
00:30:46TVK says that past deaths have been included in the hospital list.
00:30:52And TVK goes on to say that bodies must be identified.
00:30:56And they've also questioned that did they really die at the spot?
00:30:59The people who have been mentioned in the list, the 41 people who have lost their lives in the stampede,
00:31:05they're questioning that were they really present at the spot?
00:31:08Did they really die at the spot?
00:31:11TVK goes on to say that past deaths in hospital have also been included in the stampede.
00:31:16This is what the claim is being made by the TVK.
00:31:19And now TVK seeks thorough identification of the bodies of the people who died in the stampede in Karoo.
00:31:28My colleague Anika is now joining us with more details on this.
00:31:32Anika, some scathing remarks being made by the TVK questioning the death toll list.
00:31:37In fact, they're also claiming that were these people even present at the spot of the stampede?
00:31:46Well, in fact, some really huge questions coming in from the TVK.
00:31:49They've questioned the inquest report on those who died in the stampede.
00:31:53In fact, the lawyer says Adhavarjuna raised doubt over the details of those who died in the stampede particularly.
00:32:00In fact, they have asked that when did you do the inquest report?
00:32:05When did you call for relatives to identify them?
00:32:08They've also read questions about the autopsy that was completed overnight and gave the body in the morning.
00:32:13In fact, the TVK has been questioning as to the hastiness and the hurriness in which the autopsy report has been completed.
00:32:21In fact, TVK has also questioned if they really died in the spot.
00:32:25They've also questioned if the death toll also included those who died in the hospital.
00:32:31In fact, all these questions are being raised by the TVK and they have questioned the report.
00:32:36In fact, this particular death toll, 41 people who have died, TVK has questioned this particular number, calling for a recount and more details about this particular number.
00:32:46All right, Anika, thank you for those details, but do stay with us.
00:32:54So just days after the stampede in Karoor left dozens dead, Tamil Nadu police have arrested three people for allegedly inflammatory social media posts.
00:33:02Adding to the tragedy, a 51-year-old TVK functionary has allegedly died by suicide, leaving behind a note blaming the state's inadequate police protection and directly holding Minister Sen Tilwala Ji responsible for the chaos.
00:33:16Now this, Amit demands from the opposition for a CBI probe into the incident.
00:33:21Meanwhile, AIA DMK Chief and Deputy K. Palani Swami has launched a scathing attack on the DMK, accusing Chief Minister Stalin of indulging in photoshoot politics.
00:33:30EPS has also questioned the Deputy Chief Minister Udaya Nidhi Stalin's Dubai trip right after visiting the hospital.
00:33:37In response, the DMK hit back strongly, accusing EPS of hypocrisy.
00:33:41Education Minister Anbil Mahesh has alleged that AIA DMK leaders staged political drama during former Chief Minister Jail Alita's hospitalisation and even used a dummy body in a bipolar campaign to garner sympathy.
00:33:54And as the state mourns and politics over the stampede peaks, the man at the centre, TVK Chief Vijay, remains missing from public view.
00:34:02There are multiple requests from multiple sources.
00:34:08Governor has sought a report and this government has constituted a one-woman commission.
00:34:13They have already started the inquiry on the ground.
00:34:15Multiple requests at multiple times will not do justice for this.
00:34:19It has to be one cause and one action.
00:34:22Because even TVK has filed the National Human Rights Commission to take up this case.
00:34:27So multiple requests for multiple agencies will definitely not do any justice.
00:34:33But it needs to be one of the people who are responsible for this.
00:35:03And India Today's Maria Shakeel spoke with Karoor MP Jyoti Mani on the stampede and the aftermath.
00:35:11Listen in.
00:35:14Can you imagine the crisis?
00:35:15You are pointing out a very important and critical aspect.
00:35:19That the rally was perhaps planned on a wrong day because that's a payday in Karoor.
00:35:25And you are a Member of Parliament from Karoor.
00:35:27Jyoti Mani, how do you look at these allegations of negligence on the part of TVK and actor Vijay himself?
00:35:33Because reports are suggesting that TVK had asked the lights to be switched off during the rally.
00:35:39He left the spot without even extending sympathy and basic empathy to the families of these victims.
00:35:44And now his party has approached the Madras High Court demanding CBI probe.
00:35:49Is that the way forward?
00:35:50Let there be a CBI inquiry.
00:35:53See, the CBI probe is completely a political stunt in my view.
00:35:57Already there is a one-member committee.
00:35:59The committee has been, this judge is not new to committees.
00:36:04Already they have given a Toothukudi shootout report also.
00:36:08So why, there is already inquiry has been ordered.
00:36:11Why there is need for CBI inquiry, I don't understand.
00:36:14First of all, this is politicizing issue.
00:36:16See, I don't want to politicize the issue because my people are at loss.
00:36:21We lost lives.
00:36:23Actually, as a society, we couldn't comprehend what we are going through.
00:36:26But what actually literally pained me is actually people are doing politics over my people's dead body.
00:36:34So that's what made me very, very, very aggrieved.
00:36:38And I feel very, how do you say, I feel very bad what's happening, what happened to us is something which we are going through.
00:36:47So what's happening after that also, actually, we are very, very painful to see these things.
00:36:53See, it's a very simple thing I'm saying.
00:36:55See, when crowds are so much, then you are a political person or even from police side.
00:37:02So we should, our first priority should be the safety of the people.
00:37:06Maybe you can cancel the rally.
00:37:08Maybe you can do an alternate arrangement.
00:37:12You may stop the car outside.
00:37:14There are many things.
00:37:15Even if it's happened, nobody come to the intention of killing people.
00:37:18So that is completely nonsense theories and social media say.
00:37:23So at least some, you know, some party people are dying.
00:37:26The basic thing is to stand with them, right?
00:37:29Yes.
00:37:30So if you're not standing with them, then going and asking a CBI inquiry is not correct.
00:37:34You know how CBI is.
00:37:36See, ED being used against all the opposition parties.
00:37:40In this PJP government, whether ED or CPI or income tax, all used as a political tools.
00:37:46I don't want another political tool deployed on my people, on my place, on our laws.
00:37:55Politics and blame game over deadly stampede in Karud continues.
00:37:59Vijay, who has been criticized for not visiting the victims of the stampede yet,
00:38:03has said that he is shattered by the tragedy.
00:38:06His party has moved the high court seeking independent probe.
00:38:09Take a look at this report for more.
00:38:10The deadly stampede at Tamiragavetri Karagam chief Vijay's rally in Tamirnads, Karur, cost 41 lives on Saturday.
00:38:32And more than 100 people were injured.
00:38:34TVK has submitted an application to Madras High Court asking for a CBI probe.
00:38:42The party has also appealed to court to restrict DGP and collector from preventing the actor-turned-politician Vijay from meeting the victims of Karur tragedy.
00:38:54Mr. Radhan Arjuna has filed a petition before the High Court of Madras Madurai bench for seeking a transfer of the case from the town police station of Karur to Central Investigation Team for a group of entire hackerites.
00:39:16TVK petition in the High Court claims that some anti-social elements infiltrated the rally and as soon as Vijay mentioned DMK Minister Senthal Balaji and started criticizing him, slippers were thrown at him.
00:39:32They were also denied the venue of their choice.
00:39:36We suggested a place called Vilayar, this one, because this was conducted in the recent past by one of the political parties with about 12-15,000 people who were gathered there and it went off very peacefully.
00:39:48So that was suggested to them.
00:39:50So they also went and saw the place, they finally agreed, they gave it in writing saying that we may be permitted to conduct the event in this place.
00:39:55Further, the petition mentions that even before TVK leader Vijay started his speech, the electricity connection was disrupted.
00:40:05It allegedly led to people jamming towards the generator used for backup.
00:40:12BJP has supported TVK's demand for a CBI probe.
00:40:16BJP is the need of the hour because a forensic investigation has to happen to see the trigger point, fix everybody, make everybody accountable.
00:40:26You cannot have a one-man inquiry commission which will naturally give clean shit to the state government.
00:40:31Pick people also, don't make a mistake, do it. An immediate suspension.
00:40:36The Tamil Nadu government has denied power cut allegations raised by TVK.
00:40:40India today has accessed the letter seeking a temporary power cut by the TVK party itself.
00:41:02Tamil Nadu chief minister has issued a request to restrain from spreading misinformation online.
00:41:08Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman visited the stampede spot at Karoor and met victim families and injured.
00:41:34I am here on a very well-defined mission to convey honourable PM's concerns
00:41:42and to be sure that I have met up with at least a few of those families who have lost their close, near, dear ones
00:41:51and the affected ones who are lying in the hospital.
00:41:54Tamil Nadu police has lodged FIR against top leaders of TVK
00:41:59but has not mentioned the actor-turned-politician Vijay in it.
00:42:05Bureau Report, India Today
00:42:07And we're now getting some breaking news.
00:42:17An eight-member NDA BJP leader's delegation to visit Tamil Nadu's Karoor
00:42:21to investigate the circumstances that led to the stampede on Saturday evening
00:42:26and they will also be meeting with the affected families and submit a report.
00:42:31Member of the delegation, Shrif Sena MP Shrikant Shinde says
00:42:34more than 40 people died in the incident that occurred in Karoor.
00:42:38So an NDA delegation will head there
00:42:40and they will be there all day to find out how and why this happened.
00:42:44A report will also be presented to the government.
00:42:47A report will also be sent to the government in Kabil Nadu in Kabil Nadu.
00:42:52In Kabil Nadu, in Kabil Nadu, in Kabil Nadu, there were 40 people who died in Kabil Nadu.
00:42:58That's why NDA's delegation will be sent to the NDA.
00:43:02Yesterday, there will be a different party members of Kabil Nadu in Kabil Nadu.
00:43:06Yesterday, it will be sent to the party at 6 p.m.
00:43:09And my colleague Aniga is now joining us with more details on this.
00:43:30Aniga, tell us more about this eight-member delegation by the NDA
00:43:33that is all set to visit Karoor.
00:43:35At what time are they expected to visit this site
00:43:37and what all is on the agenda?
00:43:41This particular committee was constituted by BJP's national president, J.P. Nadda.
00:43:47It is an eight-member team.
00:43:49It has Tejasui, Surya as well, Karnataka's Bangalore member of parliament.
00:43:53We also have a lot of other members of parliament as part of the panel
00:43:57all set to visit Karoor.
00:43:59In fact, the BJP says that apart from the team constituted by Kabil Nadu state government,
00:44:04the BJP will also conduct its own investigation.
00:44:07So, what we are expecting is that this particular team is all set to visit the families of victims,
00:44:13speak to them and then really find out what went down.
00:44:16In fact, 41 lives have been lost in this particular tragedy for which the BJP has decided to conduct its own inquiry
00:44:23to really assess the situation over there.
00:44:26We expect them to visit the spot today where they will really be taking stock of what actually went down.
00:44:32Try and speak to a lot of eyewitnesses and victims and families of victims who have passed away.
00:44:36In fact, we are expecting the BJP will file a report on this in the upcoming weeks.
00:44:41What we are hearing is that a few members of parliament have also started their journey towards Karoor.
00:44:47We are expecting them to reach today to carry out further investigation.
00:44:50Anika, in fact, the NDA delegation is all set to visit the site to assess what exactly unfolded that day.
00:45:00But it's been more than three days and the question is that why is Vijay missing in action?
00:45:07It was his rally and he did not meet the victims. He did not meet the deceased skin and he's still missing in action.
00:45:14And a lot of questions and attacks are being made by the other parties.
00:45:20In fact, Vijay has also filed a petition in Madras High Court seeking protection and restriction on the collectorate and Karoor SP
00:45:30to ensure that he isn't restricted and prevented from meeting the families of victims.
00:45:34The case is going to come up for hearing on Friday, post which a call will be taken on when Vijay will actually be meeting the victims.
00:45:41TVK sources have told India today that the government authorities orally instructed Vijay to immediately leave the spot.
00:45:48As soon as the tragedy broke out, the government authorities orally asked Vijay to leave the spot is what TVK sources have told us.
00:45:55But the government has flatly refuted these claims.
00:45:58The government says that none of them asked Vijay to leave
00:46:01and that leaving Karoor was a call that he took on his own.
00:46:04There is a difference that we are seeing over here between the claims of TVK and what the government says.
00:46:10In fact, the committee that we are talking about is headed by Hema Malini who will travel to Tamil Nadu to invest the circumstances that led to the stampede.
00:46:20What we are expecting is that along with Tejaspeh Suriya, there will be Hema Malini, BJP MP Anurag Thakur, Arpita Sarangi, Rekha Sharma,
00:46:30Abridge Lal will be the members of his particular committee in addition to Shiv Tainas, Sikhan, Shindi and KBDT's Anish Kumar.
00:46:37So, we are expecting a lot of developments to come about today with respect to this Karoor tragedy.
00:46:42Right. Anika, thank you for getting us those details.
00:46:45We will keep coming back to you for more updates on the story.
00:46:48In fact, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman visited the Karoor Stampede site yesterday
00:46:53and she said that she has come as Prime Minister Modi's messenger over there.
00:46:58Listen in.
00:47:00See, what is fit and what is not fit is not for me to decide now.
00:47:05I am here on a very well-defined mission to convey honourable PM's concerns
00:47:11and to be sure that I have met up with at least a few of those families who have lost their close, near, dear ones
00:47:20and the affected ones who are lying in the hospital.
00:47:23Beyond that, it's not my remit.
00:47:30And we're now getting some more breaking news.
00:47:34YouTuber Felix Gerald has been arrested for fake news.
00:47:40That's the breaking news that's coming in related to the Karoor Stampede.
00:47:45YouTuber has been held for alleged fake news on the Stampede.
00:47:48It's YouTuber Felix Gerald who has been arrested over fake news on the Karoor Stampede that happened on Saturday evening.
00:47:55Meanwhile, AIA-DMK General Secretary EPS says that arbitrary arrests are being made to hide Chief Minister Stalin's failures.
00:48:05And the breaking news that is coming in is that YouTuber Felix Gerald has been arrested for spreading fake news over Karoor Stampede.
00:48:12And AIA-DMK has launched a scathing attack on the DNK government over this arrest.
00:48:18My colleague Pramod Madhav is now joining us with more details on this.
00:48:22Pramod, give us more details about Felix Gerald's arrest over alleged fake news on the Stampede.
00:48:29Certainly, like, Felix Gerald is one of the, like, prominent YouTubers from the state of Tamil Nadu.
00:48:34And he runs a channel called The Great Big Band.
00:48:36He was also arrested over two years back with one of the incidents where another YouTuber called Savukus Tanka was involved,
00:48:43like, allegedly speaking in of police women in the state of Tamil Nadu.
00:48:47And then he had to fight a, like, huge legal battle.
00:48:50And he was released.
00:48:51Now, what's happening is that, like, we got information that he got arrested by 7, 11 a.m. in the morning.
00:48:58And, like, when his wife then, like, asked the police, the people who came to arrest him,
00:49:03they simply said that they are from the cyber crime and he's been taken to the commissioner office and nothing but.
00:49:08So we asked him what was this about.
00:49:10And for that, he replied that this was related to the recent stampede, unfortunate stampede in Karoor,
00:49:15where 41 people have died.
00:49:17And he also gave him information that this is a forced arrest in relation to this act.
00:49:21Yesterday, three people were arrested, two TVK functionaries and one BJP functionary was arrested on the matter.
00:49:27Right after the chief minister clearly gave a warning stating that anybody who's trying to get fake news, false news,
00:49:33or, like, kind of, kind of, like, public disturbance over the matter, action would be immediately taken.
00:49:38And just like you mentioned, now, the AIA DMK is calling this to an arbitrary arrest and to help the fact of, like, a failure to control the crowd over there.
00:49:47All right, Pramod, thank you for getting us those details.
00:49:52So the breaking news that's coming in is that YouTuber Felix Gerald has been arrested over alleged fake news on the Karoor stampede.
00:50:02And meanwhile, AIA DMK has launched attack against the DMK government,
00:50:07saying that arbitrary arrests are being made to hide Chief Minister Stalin's failures.
00:50:11We're getting some breaking news.
00:50:39Bengaluru killer pothole strike again.
00:50:42Girl mouthed down while avoiding a pothole in Bengaluru.
00:50:4622-year-old Dhanushree crushed by truck while she was avoiding a pothole.
00:50:51So Bengaluru student killed in a road mishap, hit-and-run, or pothole tragedy is the question.
00:50:57A 22-year-old PCOM student, Dhanushree, lost her life in a road accident in Bengaluru on Monday morning.
00:51:04And according to DCP Whitefield, the incident was a hit-and-run case with the tipper lorry driver fleeing the spot after running over the victim.
00:51:13However, the JDS has alleged that the tragedy was caused by the poor condition of roads and potholes,
00:51:19which forced the student to lose balance before being hit by the lorry.
00:51:23The police have registered a case at Avalahalli Police Station and are investigating further.
00:51:28The cops deny pothole link and they claim and call it a hit-and-run case.
00:51:34But it happened because of a large pothole on the road.
00:51:38And remember, this is not the first time that such an incident is being reported from Bengaluru.
00:51:43There have been several incidents in the past in which potholes have claimed lives.
00:51:48And this is yet another example of such incident.
00:51:51Another life has been lost due to potholes in Bengaluru.
00:51:55The girl was on the way to her college on our Bipanalli main road.
00:52:05She was travelling on her bike and from the opposite, a tipper lorry came and there was a big pothole.
00:52:14And at that point of time, the tipper lorry has hit-and-run her.
00:52:17So, on the spot itself, she is flown away from the bike and she is met with an injury and she is caught dead at that point.
00:52:29Actually, here in the hospital, I am in the college Nopta.
00:52:33Now, there is a new ball in the hospital.
00:52:36But the opposite, the Nopta is a little bit of a hundi.
00:52:39The hundi is a little bit of a hundi.
00:52:39The hundi is a little bit of a hundi.
00:52:40The hundi in the past, the hundi is a little bit of a hundi.
00:52:43The hundi is a little bit of a hundi.
00:52:44And my colleague Sagai Raj is now joining us with more details on this.
00:52:52Sagai, although the police claim that it is a hit-and-run case and there is no roll-off the pothole,
00:52:58but do you think the pothole contributed largely to the accident and the loss of life?
00:53:07There is a collective responsibility of everybody, whether it is the civic officials or even the driver who have hit this particular girl.
00:53:18And if you notice that this particular incident happened near Avlali.
00:53:21And according to eyewitnesses, she was driving in one direction and the tipper lorry was in the other direction.
00:53:28And it was on a high speed.
00:53:29And when she was trying to avoid a pothole and take a direction, it was on the opposite direction.
00:53:34The truck, which was on the opposite direction, hit her while driving and fled from that particular point.
00:53:40And the police are investigating further to ascertain what was the exact reason behind this.
00:53:46Because when we spoke to DCP, DCP has confirmed to us saying that it was rash driving, not due to pothole.
00:53:52However, if you see the entire road, the entire stretch seems to have too many potholes and bad roads.
00:53:59And probably once the investigation gets over, we'll get to know what is the reason behind it.
00:54:03But the eyewitnesses have categorically mentioned that she was trying to avoid a pothole,
00:54:07but the vehicle was from the opposite direction, which was on a rash driving, has hit her and killed her on the spot.
00:54:14Alright, Sigay, thank you for getting us those details.
00:54:17So, police claim that it was a hit and run case, but the eyewitnesses claim that the girl was trying to avoid the pothole,
00:54:23which eventually resulted in the accident and her death.
00:54:27And our shifting focus, days after protests rocked Ladakh and four locals lost their lives in the same.
00:54:37The lay Apex body has announced that it will boycott the scheduled talks with the centre.
00:54:42It has demanded an impartial judicial probe into the firing by security forces on September 24.
00:54:47It has also sought centre's apology for labelling Ladakhis as anti-nationals.
00:54:52Not just that, it has also called for an unconditional release of Sonam Vanchuk.
00:54:56The next round of talks between the centre and representatives of Ladakh,
00:55:00including the members of the lay Apex body and the Kargil Democratic Alliance, was scheduled for October 6.
00:55:06Meanwhile, Sonam Vanchuk's wife has said that charges against her husband are completely baseless.
00:55:11In fact, she also affirmed Vanchuk's commitment to Gandhian principles and stated that he had fully cooperated with the CBI.
00:55:19On the other hand, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has sounded a stern warning to the centre,
00:55:23saying that a lay-like situation must never unfold in the valley.
00:55:27He also reminded that statehood is not a favour, but a promise which the state has to fulfil.
00:55:35India Today spoke with Sonam Vanchuk's wife. Listen in.
00:55:39He was very weak after the 15 days of strike and then to be taken, you know, by the police, it's very, very painful.
00:55:56And more painful is the fact that for the last 48 hours, I have not been in touch with him.
00:56:04The police here had promised that after the land in Jodhpur, they would make him speak to me or they would speak to me.
00:56:11But I'm still awaiting the call.
00:56:14Neither have they given us the detention order.
00:56:16Not just me, but everybody in Ladakh or in India who would hear of these charges would laugh at them
00:56:22because these are absolutely baseless charges.
00:56:27The whole country has seen that for the past five years, he has been leading this movement
00:56:32and this protest in the most peaceful, in the most Gandhian way possible,
00:56:37be it his padhyatras, be it his ancians.
00:56:39And he's always followed the path of, you know, non-violence and peace.
00:56:45So it is, everybody is, you know, aghast and know that this has been deliberately done to frame him
00:56:55because given his past record and his methods, he always stood for progress, for science, for innovation,
00:57:04for climate work, for patriotism, working for Indian Army, you know, asking Indians to boycott China.
00:57:11So everybody knows him as a great innovator, as a patriot, you know, as a nationalist.
00:57:18So to be taken in NSA, which is the most draconian act, you know, and for public safety,
00:57:24I mean, it is not just to me, everybody knows that this is just have been used by people in power
00:57:33to use the national machinery that they have working for them
00:57:37to unnecessarily defame and frame, you know, the person who is the pride of India.
00:57:44And my colleague Ashraf Wani is now joining us with more details on this.
00:57:50Ashraf, tell us more about the demands that have been made by the lay Apex body
00:57:54and how has the centre responded to those demands?
00:57:57So far, the centre is in a hurry that what should be the response from the government of India
00:58:05because one statement came from the Ministry of Home Affairs that the dialogue so far
00:58:11with the Apex body and Calvary Democratic Alliance was fruitful.
00:58:17It has delivered many things during ongoing dialogue and the next meeting is scheduled
00:58:22on the 6th of October and they are going with ahead.
00:58:26But the big hurdle is the conditions which has had been put by the Ladakh Apex body.
00:58:32And main of that condition is the unconditional release of Sonam Vangchuk.
00:58:40They have made it clear that they are not going to proceed for any meeting
00:58:44unless and until these four demands are not met, which you mentioned in the bulletin.
00:58:50Now, it is settled some days for that scheduled meeting.
00:58:54It is very interesting to see what will be the response on these four points
00:58:58by the Home Ministry as well as by the Government of India
00:59:02because already there is some kind of a conversation between the high-level committee
00:59:08which was formed by the Government of India, by the Home Ministry and the Ladakh Apex body.
00:59:13But what the sources are saying in the Ladakh Apex body is that
00:59:19they are going to unmoved with the conditions.
00:59:22So, the main four conditions, first of all, the release of Sonam Vangchuk unconditionally
00:59:27and the forming of the high-level committee to probe the violence of the 24th of September in Leh, Ladakh.
00:59:35All right, Ashraf. Thank you so much for getting us all those details on the demands raised by the Lay Apex body.
00:59:41We will keep coming back to you for more updates on this.

01:03:30Bureau Report, India Today.
01:04:00Let's take a quick look at our report.
01:04:30Taking a cue from his own radio address, Modi described Meloni's autobiography as her
01:04:38man ki baat.
01:04:39Prime Minister Modi stressed on deep-rooted ties between India and Italy that go beyond
01:04:45trade and treaties, celebrating shared civilizational values and womanhood.
01:04:51He also describes Prime Minister Meloni as an outstanding political leader and a true patriot
01:04:58and calls it a great honour to contribute to the book.
01:05:03Prime Minister Meloni and Prime Minister Modi have often caught the internet's eye for
01:05:08their camaraderie.
01:05:10They first met in November 2022 on the sidelines of G20 summit in Bali.
01:05:22But what fuelled the internet was Meloni's arrival in India in March 2023 for bilateral
01:05:28meet with Prime Minister Modi.
01:05:33Many Indians began to pour their love for Meloni and her Instagram posts.
01:05:41What really created the sensation was the chemistry between both leaders at the G20 summit in New
01:05:48Delhi.
01:05:49The smiles and the handshakes between the two world leaders became the talk of the town.
01:05:59Then came the image of Meloni and Modi smiling together at COP 28 summit, which went viral
01:06:05on social media and was also memed widely.
01:06:09This image was posted with the hashtag Melody.
01:06:14Months later, another video went viral.
01:06:25Hello from Team Melody at the G7 summit broke the internet and racked up over 40 million views,
01:06:32instantly becoming a social media sensation.
01:06:41Even Prime Minister Modi had acknowledged that he is aware about viral Melody memes on social
01:06:47media.
01:06:48The answer is a lot of people who have been asking them to be told to be told to be told
01:06:55to be told to be told to be told that they are a lot of people who have been told to be told
01:06:59to be told to be told about the internet.
01:07:01So if you ask them to be told about it, it's pizza.
01:07:03And it's pizza from Italy.
01:07:04And people say that they know that you have a lot of people on the internet and what you
01:07:06know about it.
01:07:07Do you not see your memes?
01:07:09The duo is now again viral on social media with a four-word written
01:07:39written by Prime Minister Modi for Meloni's book.
