Michigan govt cautions against speculation over church attack that left five dead

US authorities on Sept 29 said they are working to determine what led to a deadly attack a day before at a Grand Blanc church in Michigan, where a man drove a pickup truck through the doors during services, opened fire and set the building ablaze before dying in a shootout with police. 01:18what we know is everyone has been accounted for. We still are in the process of clearing out that

01:24church. But at this time, everyone is accounted for. The suspect from yesterday has been arrested

01:31by law enforcement in the past. And the five dead, does that include the suspect or is that? The five

01:36dead includes the suspect. Do you have any details on what those prior arrests were? Burglary and LWI.

01:43Is there that someone was arrested after driving through the barricade near the church? Can you share any

01:48information on that, why they were arrested and what their intentions were? Yes, Chief. Yes, there was an

01:53incident out there. We are still in the process of investigating that incident, whether or not

01:58it's related or not. I could tell you that we do have a 21-year-old person in custody for that incident

02:05right now. We are like half a mile, you know, away from the church. You know, just they are down the street.

02:13Very surprised. Because Grand Blanc is a very safe area. I want to take a moment to say thank you for the

02:24policemen in this area. They do a great, great, great job. From top to bottom, you know, honestly, in the city too,

02:34they are on top of everything. Even if it happens, something like that, it does happen. When you see the

02:41community, the human, the human together, you know, the community together, that will make it easy, no

02:50matter what it is, you know. Yes, we are going to see, maybe how we don't see this anymore, you know,

02:58but you never know. But I'm going to go right now, you know, check, see what, if they need anything,

03:04you know, we are there for them. Whatever they need, we are there for them.
