00:00Yesterday, the NFL announced that Bad Bunny
00:03will be the headline act for,
00:05at the Super Bowl halftime show.
00:08Now, you know, he previously refused
00:10to do a national tour here in the US
00:14because of the ice raids, but wrote in a post,
00:17I've been thinking about it,
00:19and after discussions with my team,
00:22I think I'll just do one date in the United States.
00:26And this, and he added, this is for my people,
00:29my culture, and our history.
00:31He also has a history of speaking out against you-know-who.
00:35So a lot of the MAGA folks,
00:37apparently are very upset with the NFL,
00:40but they're upset all the time.
00:44You know, and you know, it's a great American,
00:48another great American performer is gonna be performing.
00:52I don't see the problem,
00:53because you all do remember Puerto Rico
00:55is part of the United States.
00:56Thank you, yes, it is.
00:57Okay, not that I thought you didn't remember.
01:00But there are people-
01:01But I do like to remind folks.
01:03There are people online that are like, you know,
01:04why couldn't they have chosen an American?
01:07They did!
01:08I was like, oh, they did though.
01:09What, you know, his protest was really,
01:11he's truly an artist activist,
01:13and we haven't seen that for quite some time, I think.
01:16And this is the time for that.
01:17And he said that he will never forget what Donald Trump did,
01:21and what he did not do,
01:22when Puerto Rico needed a caring and competent leader.
01:25And so he was thinking,
01:26I think he's talking about Hurricane Maria.
01:28And I, you know, I think what's so wonderful
01:31is that he's not only doing the Super Bowl,
01:35he is going to be the host for the season opener of SNL.
01:39He did a 31-day residency in Puerto Rico,
01:44and, rather, he performed 31 shows,
01:48and his residency brought $400 million to the island.
01:52$400 million.
01:53And then, finally, he streamed it on Amazon, his last show.
01:57It was the most watched single artist performance
02:00in Amazon Music's history, history.
02:03And so this is the type of spotlight
02:05he's bringing to Puerto Rico,
02:07and he's bringing money, a spotlight.
02:09He's going to help with the infrastructure, technology,
02:12all of these things he's doing for America.
02:15For America.
02:16Let me tell you something.
02:19I am gonna have to watch the Super Bowl,
02:22which I never did,
02:23because I think Benito Antonio Martinez Ocasio is perfection.
02:29Yes.
02:30And I love what he is doing.
02:31Also, let's think about it,
02:33because, you know, these MAGA people
02:34always think that everything is about them.
02:36The NFL is putting in, investing a lot,
02:39in trying to increase fandom all over the world,
02:42because it's, you know,
02:43it's something that is American football.
02:46They've been playing games in Brazil,
02:47they've been playing games in London,
02:49they've been trying to,
02:50Bad Bunny is an international superstar.
02:53He may not be coming here,
02:55but he is going all over Europe,
02:57all over Latin America.
02:59He, you know, he is the most streamed artist globally,
03:04was sold for three consecutive years.
03:06And you know what?
03:07He is good at his craft.
03:10He is a great artist.
03:12That, that concert in Puerto Rico,
03:15you know, those concerts, that residency here did,
03:17people who went, came back, like if they had,
03:20they had, I mean, they came back awakened.
03:23Yeah. They did.
03:24They came back like they'd gone to a church.
03:26And he's really good looking too.
03:27And we don't think about this when we're like,
03:29who's the NFL halftime show?
03:30It's a business decision at the end of the day.
03:32And to Anna's point, he's the most streamed artist
03:34on Spotify multiple years over.
03:36Yeah.
03:37Like it's a new generation that you may want to be bringing
03:39in some new viewers who are going to tune in.
03:41I got to be honest.
03:42I had a little bit of a cultural gap on his music.
03:44Like I didn't know if I'd recognize the song,
03:46but he's a great actor.
03:47And a lot of it is in Spanish.
03:48Yeah. And he's a great actor though.
03:49Like I loved him in Bullet Train.
03:50He's in two big movies this summer.
03:52He was just in Happy Gilmore 2,
03:54but also in Caught Stealing with Austin Butler,
03:56which is super fun.
03:57He's part of the Marvel universe, I believe.
03:58But it's, listen, I think it's,
04:00it makes a ton of sense.
04:01I'll be curious to see if the NFL brings in any like surprise acts
04:05to kind of offset anyone who's like,
04:06I have no idea who this guy is.
04:08He could bring Lin-Manuel.
04:09He could bring Marc Anthony.
04:10He could bring all of Quetzal.
04:11You know what?
04:12Or even do like a sort of a genre crossover.
04:15Throw in like a country artist and see what you do.
04:17Like just do something for him.
04:17Well, if it makes you feel better,
04:19I can't understand that word he says either,
04:20but I love, I love every one of his songs.
04:23The bottom line is this is what the NFL does.
04:28They get the artists they want to,
04:31for all the reasons everybody said.
04:33And so there should be no issue.
04:36And the artists don't get paid for the Superbowl,
04:38for their performance.
04:39They don't get paid.
04:40Oh, I didn't know that.
04:41Yeah.
04:42But he said yes.
04:46So I'll be watching.
