00:00Oh
00:30Hello again. It's great to see you. I'm just out having a drive in the Maker-mobile.
00:52Where do you think we should go today?
00:54Whoa!
00:55Oh! Toki here. Mimi, make a message.
01:00Hello, I'm Harry.
01:02Hello, Harry. Can I help you today?
01:04That's please, Mr Maker.
01:06I'll be there very soon.
01:07I've arrived!
01:29Hello, Harry. So how can I help you today?
01:32Can you show me how to make a ripped paper picture?
01:35Yeah. Oh, that's a good idea. I like ripping. It's great fun and really easy, too.
01:42Oh! Ha-ha!
01:47Oh! Actually, sometimes it's quite hard to rip things. What we need is something thinner.
01:53Ha-ha! Ha-ha! Yes, that'll do. Let's have a look now.
01:58Ha-ha! I did it!
02:02And these pieces of ripped paper have just given me a great idea.
02:08Let's try something.
02:11Try making this lovely layered picture, made by ripping colourful shapes from paper.
02:16Let's make it!
02:18Let's make it!
02:19But first, we'll need somewhere to make it.
02:25Ooh! Ha-ha-ha-ha!
02:27And we'll also need some things from the doodle drawers.
02:30I'll be back soon, Harry.
02:31Some coloured paper.
02:43We also need another very special type of paper.
02:48I wonder if Scraps can help.
02:49Ha-ha!
02:53Where is Scraps?
02:55Scraps?
02:56Scra-
02:56Oh! I think he might be in the shower.
03:01Scraps! Scraps! Come on!
03:03We need your help!
03:04Oh!
03:05Oh!
03:06Oh!
03:07Scraps, sorry to bother you, but could you find us some tracing paper, please?
03:12Oh!
03:12Thank you!
03:13Now, tracing paper is very thin paper that you can see through.
03:19Oh, great! Well done, Scraps!
03:22Oh!
03:22Oh!
03:24Thank you!
03:26And we'll also need a glue stick.
03:33So, Harry, this is what we're going to make today.
03:36It's a lovely layered picture of some ducks on a pretty pond.
03:41So, what do you think?
03:42It's really good, Mr. Maker.
03:44It's good! Brilliant!
03:45So, does that mean you're ready?
03:47Yeah.
03:47Great!
03:48Are you ready?
03:49Brilliant!
03:50Let's get making.
03:51Now, the first thing we're going to make is the water in our picture.
03:54So, we'll need a blue piece of paper for this, and we're going to tear out two long, wavy strips.
04:00Take the paper and tear off a thick, wavy piece for one edge, and a thinner, wavy piece for the other edge, like this.
04:09Next, rip out some green leaf shapes.
04:13Actually, you can help me with this, Harry.
04:14Now, let's rip out some ducks from yellow paper.
04:26This can be a bit fiddly, so you might need an adult to help you.
04:34Look! Two ducks!
04:35Now, we're going to put our two ducks to the side just for the moment, and bring in the blue piece of paper for our sky.
04:42Now, do you remember those long, wavy blue strips that we ripped out earlier for the water?
04:46Well, we need the larger one back in.
04:48Here it is.
04:49And we're going to line it up on our background paper like this, making sure that the straight edges and the corners match.
04:58Now, we can add in a duck and some green leaves.
05:01Here's a little duck and three green leaves, I think.
05:06Now, I'm just tucking these behind the blue strip.
05:10And when you're happy with where everything is, you can glue it all down.
05:14Next, add some glue around the edge of your tracing paper.
05:19There we go.
05:23Now, we can stick this onto our picture.
05:26Then, we're going to bring back in the remaining long, blue, wavy strip.
05:29And place it at the bottom, like this.
05:33There. Perfect.
05:35We can also add in another duck and some green leaves.
05:40And when you're happy with where everything is, you can glue it down again.
05:44There. All finished.
05:46And can you see how the different layers of paper and tracing paper make the background look like it's a long way away?
05:54It's a very clever effect.
05:56And if you really enjoyed that, there are lots of other ideas you could try, too.
06:00How about these torn paper cows on ripped rolling hills under a bright yellow sun?
06:07Or what about this marvellous monkey swinging from the trees in this fabulous forest?
06:13Layered pictures, all made with a little bit of sticking and a lot of ripping.
06:17Why don't you try one today?
06:20So then, Harry, what do you think of our picture?
06:21It's really good.
06:23Brilliant.
06:24We made it.
06:25And now your home is where the art is.
06:27High five.
06:29Well done.
06:31What a fantastic ripping picture, Harry.
06:34Bye-bye.
06:35Bye-bye.
06:36I love being out and about in the Makermobile.
06:40The sun is shining, the birds are tweeting, and...
06:44What's that noise?
06:49Now, who do you think's in the doodle drawers?
06:59I am a shape.
07:04I am a shape.
07:06I am a circle.
07:14I am a triangle.
07:19I am a square.
07:23I am a rectangle.
07:33I am a shape.
07:35What are the rectangles making today?
08:05Can you guess?
08:10I wonder what it could be.
08:15It's a xylophone.
08:19Well done, shapes.
08:20It's time to get back in the doodle drawers.
08:23Oh, what a lovely day for a countryside drive in the Makermobile.
08:34Make-a-mobile.
08:35Yay!
08:36Minute make time.
08:38Hey, it's minute make time.
08:40I'm on my way.
08:55We've arrived.
08:56It's minute make time, everyone.
09:06Yay!
09:08And today, we're going to make something brilliant.
09:11It's...
09:11What's that?
09:13What is it?
09:14Oh, no.
09:16It's a fly.
09:22It's gone.
09:23Oh, it's back again.
09:24Don't worry.
09:28I was only joking.
09:29It's not a real fly.
09:31It's my pet fly.
09:33Look at this.
09:34It's fantastic.
09:35It's really good for playing tricks on people or just hanging around in your room.
09:40And now, to make one of these, you will need a glue stick, a pipe cleaner, a piece of
09:47elastic, some tracing paper, a lolly stick, and we'll also need some googly eyes.
09:53Now, you can find these in an art and craft shop.
09:56I'll be back very soon.
09:57I've got them.
10:06Right.
10:07Yes, here are our googly eyes.
10:11Now, do you think it's possible to make this pet fly in just one minute?
10:18No way!
10:20Well, I think I can.
10:21I'm going to have to be very quick, though.
10:23But don't worry.
10:23I'll remind you how to do it at the end.
10:26Are you ready?
10:26Yes!
10:28Are you ready?
10:29Great.
10:30Let's make it in a minute.
10:32Three, two, one.
10:35Start the clock.
10:36Right, let's get our piece of elastic and our pipe cleaner, and we're just going to wrap
10:40it around the end like this, and then we need our lolly stick.
10:44There we go.
10:45And we're going to wrap the pipe cleaner around the lolly stick to make the fly's body.
10:51There we go.
10:52Like that.
10:53And then we just slide it off, and we've got the start of our fly.
10:57Fantastic.
10:58Right, now, I'm just going to open this up here in the middle, like that.
11:02And then if we get our paper, we can fold it in half, our tracing paper, like this, and
11:09then tear out a lumpy shape.
11:11Now, this is going to be the wings of our fly.
11:15Now, we can push those in the middle there, and then squidge it down.
11:19That's good, like that.
11:21And then we need to get our googly eyes and stick those on.
11:25Let's put one on that side there, and then one on this side here.
11:31I've just about got enough time to do it.
11:33I've made a pet fly.
11:36Wow, doesn't time fly when you're having fun?
11:41And if you've got more than a minute, you can make all sorts of pet flies and bugs.
11:47Look at this.
11:48A dragonfly with a gold pipe cleaner body and green wings.
11:53Or even this, a tropical bug made with beads and a curly pipe cleaner for its antennae.
12:00Pet bugs made in a minute.
12:02Why don't you have a go?
12:04Here's a reminder of how to do it.
12:06Let's go back to the beginning and take another look.
12:10Tie a piece of elastic around the pipe cleaner.
12:13Wrap the pipe cleaner around a lolly stick.
12:16Tear off some tracing paper wings.
12:19Push the wings into the fly's body.
12:21Add two googly eyes, and your pet fly is finished.
12:30Why don't you try and make one in a minute?
12:33Right, everyone, it's time for me to buzz off.
12:35Goodbye!
12:39I wonder where we're off to next.
12:44Hello, Mr. Maker.
12:47Oh, nice to see you.
12:48Can you guess what we're making today?
12:52I don't know.
12:53Let's find out.
12:54I am brown.
13:01I am orange.
13:07I am green.
13:13I am pink.
13:16I am pink.
13:19I am pink.
13:21I am dark blue.
13:27I am purple.
13:29I am black blue.
13:45It's a diver.
13:46Well done, everybody.
13:49See you next time.
13:50Now watch this.
13:52Hello.
13:53Are you ready for a big surprise?
13:59I'm going to surprise these mini-makers, who have no idea I'm on my way or what we're going to make.
14:06Hello.
14:07Mr. Mesa.
14:10It's great to meet you.
14:11How are you?
14:12Are you okay?
14:13Yeah.
14:14Now we're going to make something that's really cool.
14:17Here's a clue.
14:18See if you can guess what it is.
14:19Any guesses?
14:25Penguins.
14:26Penguins.
14:27That's right.
14:28I think we should make some big penguins on a big icy picture.
14:32Will you help me?
14:33Yeah.
14:35Fantastic.
14:36Okay then, Rico, Anna Carla, Kim, Amrita and Rua, let's make it.
14:41Now, everybody, we're going to make some big penguins on a big icy picture.
14:46Is there anything good on the table that we could use to make our ice?
14:49What do you think?
14:50The sheet of fabric.
14:53Do you think this will work, everyone?
14:54Yeah.
14:55Do you think it will?
14:56Well, that's fantastic.
14:56So we've got the ice.
14:58Now, we're going to make a big penguin, aren't we?
15:01Yeah.
15:02And what sort of things would be on a penguin's face?
15:04The ice.
15:05What's that?
15:06A bean.
15:07A bean.
15:08Stick it on.
15:08Try it on for size.
15:10What?
15:10What?
15:11What else does a penguin need?
15:12Use this for your eyes.
15:14The penguin eyes.
15:17Plastic eggs for the penguin eyes.
15:19Brilliant.
15:20Well done, everyone.
15:20Shall we make it?
15:21Yeah.
15:22Come on, then.
15:23Let's go.
15:25Now, what will this blue paint be?
15:28I think that'll be the sea.
15:32We're making fish.
15:34Okay, everyone.
15:41We're going to turn our card into a very colourful iceberg.
15:45So grab some brightly coloured chalk and start to rub it all the way along the edge.
15:51Does that sound like a good plan?
15:52Yeah.
15:53Great.
15:54I'll leave you to it, then.
15:55Now, let's make an icy pool.
16:06We're having great fun making our big penguins, so why don't you have a go making your own little one?
16:14Try making a wobbly penguin.
16:17Make it.
16:18Play with it.
16:18Have fun with it.
16:19To make one, you will need a plastic egg like one of these, some modelling clay, loopy PVA glue, a brush, black card and tissue paper, paint, a pencil, scissors, a black pen, a glue stick and a piece of orange card.
16:40Take an egg-shaped plastic container that comes in two halves.
16:45Open it up and push a ball of modelling clay into one half of it and then close the container.
16:53Next, cover your egg with a layer of gloopy PVA glue.
17:00Then stick on some small pieces of black tissue paper and leave it to dry.
17:06Once it's dry, paint on the penguin's face with white paint, like this.
17:14And when that's dry, take a piece of black card and draw two pointy wing shapes.
17:24Now carefully cut them out and glue one to each side of the penguin.
17:29Then take a pen and draw two eyes.
17:41Last of all, stick on a triangle of orange card to make a beak.
17:49Your penguin is finished and ready to wobble.
17:52What a perfect little penguin.
17:57But I wonder how our big penguins are coming along.
18:02I think these eyes look great, don't you?
18:15Nearly finished?
18:16There we go.
18:18Well done, everyone.
18:19We made it!
18:21Now that's what I call a cool picture.
18:36Mr. Maker, time to go.
18:39That's it for now.
18:40My making time's over, but yours is just beginning.
18:44It's time to put the Maker-mobile back in its box.
18:51Ooh, la, la, la, la, la, la, la, Mr. Maker.
