00:27The Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Udupi who is also the Chairperson of the SPCA directed the closure of a facility run by Mr. Sudindra Aytal in the name of Animal Rescue Organisation Saligrama which is of course misnamed considering the condition in which the animals were kept, how they were being tortured and in the name of an animal rescue centre animals were being bred, were being sold and lot of other illegal activities were happening.
00:57Including lack of veterinary treatment, lack of proper food, water, shelter for these animals, they were kept in filthy conditions.
01:05Today on the 27th of September, 100 animals were rescued again.
01:10This was the fourth raid that was conducted.
01:13A raid was conducted in January by the Forest Department following by a raid done in January again where puppies, dogs, cats and kittens were rescued.
01:23Following a raid in February where over 200 animals were rescued including exotics and today on the 27th of September, dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, a hamster and a love bird were rescued.
01:39A total of 100 animals, the conditions in which they were kept amounts to a total and a blatant violation of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
01:48Also the provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sahita BNS and considering the violations, the Deputy Commissioner and the District Magistrate of Udupi took a decision to close down this facility permanently
02:01and ensure that no animals are kept in the custody of this person who is illegally holding them, just keeping them without giving them proper care, veterinary care, treatment, food, no veterinarian who is engaged in their treatment is not correct.
02:17It is hoarding, it is illegal and today PETA India has supported this enforcement, this raid of the Udupi SPCA which had the presence of the Panchayat, the Forest Department, the police and of course the SPCA officials.
