00:00Hello, Who, What, Where? I am Nicola Coughlin, and I'm here to answer your burning questions about Bridgerton's season three.
00:10Three words to describe Penelope this season.
00:13Determined, changed, and romantic. And I mean romantic as a noun. She is aromantic.
00:19I have my three favourite looks for Penelope this season.
00:23I have nicknames for them, which I can't tell you because it's too spoilery.
00:26It's been released, the image of when, you know, Luke and I are stood in the dark in a garden, and I have my wig as long and flowing.
00:34That dress, when I tried on only the fabric for that in my first costume fitting, I got tears in my eyes because I'd been waiting for the moment that she'd get the transformation.
00:43So that has a really special place. She's Lady Whistledown.
00:47So I have a coat that is so gorgeous.
00:51It's, you know, I don't often get to wear stuff like that. It's a lot of gowns, very beautiful gowns.
00:57And then there's a third one, which I just can't tell you about at all. You'll just have to wait and see it.
01:01That's a really good one. I feel like because a lot of the, we have a lot of really delicate fabrics and flowing fabrics and layering.
01:12I feel like current season Prada, with that, like that beautiful gauzy dress that Hunter Schafer wore on the red carpet, maybe something like that.
01:22If she was like in the modern era, I feel like she could wear that maybe.
01:25My favorite Bridgerton moment to film, it's definitely this season. I know I'm hugely biased, but it's been my favorite season to film because also as an actor, I really love just one-on-one scenes with other actors because it's when you can really get into the nitty gritty and properly explore character development and the dynamic, all of that stuff.
01:44So there was so many scenes with Luke. I always love the scenes dancing with them. I have done since season one. And then strangely enough, the intimacy scenes, I really adore them because you're given a lot of time, support and space on set in those days.
01:58So you feel a lot of freedom in a strange way, which you might not expect. So I loved those. And then there's a lot of the scenes from that work from the books.
02:07Whenever we filmed one of those scenes, there was a different energy on set that day and it felt like something special and something like we knew the fans were invested and excited to see.
02:17Penelope and Colin's relationship this season, it's just beautiful. They have always been two people who've had this deep bond since they were little kids and they speak about that a little bit, you know, in the first few episodes of when they met and he fell off his horse because her bonnet flew off.
02:31And I think when they met as kids, they were very much on equal footing. And then that very quickly changed when they entered into society, when we meet the beginning of season one, when they feel like they've been thrust into the, into the adult world, but they're not really ready to, to be a part of it.
02:46And they both know that deeply. So then when we meet them in season three, they have matured an awful lot because they've both gone through things.
02:53But Penelope has decided that she's, you know, not ready for love. She doesn't care about love. In fact, she's just going to move on.
03:00You see that connection they have. It's always there, but thankfully the power dynamics shift, which they had to do because she always had him on this pedestal.
03:09Then he knocked himself off it by like making fun of her and hit her mother's ball and all this stuff.
03:15But I think deep down, it's like a soulmate connection. They just have to wait until they're in the right place for one another. And when they do, it's just really magical.
03:24My favorite memory working with Luke, it's not like one particular memory. I think it's just an overriding thing of working with an actor that is so selfless, so kind.
03:35And I just always felt supported. And I think because it's such a long job, it's, you know, it's grueling. Even if you adore it, which I do, it's really exhausting.
03:46But having like a partner there who was like a real teammate and that had your back. So I think just the overriding feeling.
03:52And it's funny because we watched some stuff today that we hadn't yet seen in the show and it made me cry.
03:57And I just was like, God, what an experience. Like when I'm old and gray, I'll sit back and I'll be like, what a great time I had with that great guy.
04:05Penelope has taught me personal lessons in every season because she's changed so much.
04:09I think this one, what was interesting for me was that there's the whole theme of Penelope having to step out of the shadows and into the light and take up space.
04:18I think sometimes I struggle with that because I, I mean, people always roll their eyes when actors go, well, I'm an introvert.
04:24And they go, you couldn't possibly be. They say experts get their energy from being around people. I really don't.
04:29I need to like shut myself away and be like quiet. And, you know, even in my family, people be like, oh my gosh, are you the loud one?
04:35I'm like, not at all. Like I'm definitely the quietest. So I've had to learn how to step from the supporting role into the leading role.
04:43And so it's something she had to do in the show. And I felt like I'm having to do in my real life, but it's like the learning curve every day. We're still going.
04:49Lady Whistledown, what it is in the time in which it existed. It was, there was power in the gossip, you know, women had so little agency.
05:00So I feel like if we apply it to nowadays and like how can women have power and change things, I feel like she would be a real feminist.
05:07And she would be advocating for, you know, women to like, you know, have the job, have the husband, have everything.
05:14I feel like she would motivate, you know, I don't think that she started that column for any nefarious reason.
05:21I think she just needed to find her voice and it was a release for her and a way for her to feel power.
05:26So, yeah, I think it was nowadays. I think she would spend her time empowering other women.
05:30One of the biggest things that has helped my skin was growing up in the west of Ireland where it rains 95% of the time and we don't get a lot of direct, harsh sunlight.
05:42I also couldn't afford to go on sun holidays.
05:44So being broke was wonderful for my skin because I couldn't go and fry myself under the sun, which I absolutely would have done, I can tell you.
05:52I also really revel in skincare. I've always really enjoyed it.
05:56Like when I was younger, like I did a lot of retail jobs and some of them centered around skincare.
06:01So when I was like 19, my boss said to me, like, you have to start using eye cream and you have to start moisturizing your neck.
06:07Because that's the first place you see signs of aging and the skin is thin.
06:11And I would love to say I've taken every good bit of advice in my life.
06:14I totally haven't. But that's something that stuck with me.
06:16But what's great is nowadays young people are so much more tuned into skincare.
06:20But what they don't realize is we had like that scrub that basically took off a layer of your epidermis every single time you used it.
06:27And frying your skin really, really dry and then not moisturizing it because you thought moisturizer would give you spots.
06:33But like, I think moisturizer is just like the most important thing that you can put on your skin.
06:37And also, I think a silly thing, but like also accept the imperfections in your skin as well.
06:42Because I have super, like, super dark circles.
06:45I've had them since I was a kid.
06:47But I'm not going to get stressed about that.
06:50Some people are like, how do I fix them?
06:51Like, sometimes you don't need to fix.
06:52Sometimes you can put concealer on and that is totally fine.
06:55The imperfections, everybody has them.
06:56And if you think they don't, I promise you they do.
06:59Thank you so much for all your questions and thank you for watching.
07:02Make sure you watch Bridgeton Season 3 only on Netflix.
