00:00After an unsuccessful VBAC, Chrissy is sharing her story to empower other moms
00:10facing similar challenges. Contraction started in the evening so I got myself
00:14ready for bed. An hour and a half later my water is broke so I got myself ready
00:18for hospitals. I labored hard for several hours and after 11 hours I was still
00:23only two centimeters dilated at which point I was beyond exhausted so we
00:27decided to opt for an epidural. However, three hours later her contractions
00:31stopped and her baby started to be in distress. Turns out I had a uterine
00:35rupture and had to go for an emergency c-section. Not at all what I had
00:38planned but at least here is my baby boy and I'm so glad he's safe. After
00:43bringing her baby safely into the world she was plunged into a long and agonizing
00:48recovery.
00:57Despite everything, Chrissy made it her mission to show other moms they're not alone.
01:01It's actually a message that I want to give to all other emergency c-section or
01:06a lot of people who are not alone in the world.
01:09Despite everything, Chrissy made it her mission to show other moms they're not alone.
01:13It's actually a message that I want to give to all other emergency c-section or
01:19failed v-back moms. You could have done everything right. You could have eaten all the dates, drank all the teas, taken all the supplements and done all the exercises, done all the right breathing, prayed. You could have done everything and you could have done it all right. And sometimes it just doesn't go the way that you want it to.
01:35You're allowed to be angry and you're allowed to be sad and you're allowed to mourn the loss of the birth that you wanted. You can feel resentful towards other moms and you think what does she have that I don't? What did I do wrong? And you can feel all the things. There is a lot to feel and it's hard.
01:51Sometimes it just doesn't go right. Sometimes it feels like everything goes wrong. And there's going to be people who are going to tell you well at the end of the day all that matters is that your baby is healthy. But don't for a second think that how you feel doesn't also matter.
02:04And also if things go wrong it's not your fault.
02:07No matter what it's going to be okay.
02:23Chrissy is well on the way to recovery.
02:37Chrissy's journey has been absolutely inspirational. We wish her and her family all the best.
