Marko Zaror stars and produces Affinity: “I am very emotionally connected with this project”

In this interview, Marko talks about his character, about working with the director, and about being a producer. In AFFINITY, Marko Zaror is Bruno, an ex-SEAL struggling with PTSD. He lives a life in fear of his demons until one day when he discovers a beautiful woman with no past of her own. 00:00this movie was you know started from the question of are we going to be as humans able to replicate

00:09because you know we're playing to be gods we're we're doing cloning you know to some animals and

00:15soon i'm sure they're gonna we're gonna be cloning humans and the ai and robotics and like you know

00:23but the question is are we going to be able to replicate the emotional connection of two human

00:29beings and that's why the movie's name is affinity are we going to be able to replicate affinity

00:36right and when with that question i that was the motivation for me to write the script and start

00:42creating this project and and see how we can make this into an action movie and that's how it started

00:49basically because there was a story that allowed me to do that you know this story was all about

00:55the emotional content and how the connection between humans you know it's the goal the goal

01:04it's goal that we have like it's basically the unique thing we can we have as humans is that

01:10beautiful relationship that we can connect between each other with conversations with moments

01:17so in order to to tell this story i needed the time and the preparation to get to those points to be able

01:25to show that connection for them and to you know uh have this strong uh motivation to try to not lose that

01:39and and and you know that i want that i don't want that to to be to go away or to be taken away from me

01:46right so that was a beautiful challenge basically i trained with a stunt team in thailand they have a

01:52totally different way of fighting and all that and i actually wanted to learn that wanted to bring all

01:58their elements and we have some weapon training and to be able to to make this story and make these fights

02:06uh unique of what i've done before so i let them do a lot of their work and so then i can jump in

02:14and put off my style and my techniques and my character into this new world of fighting with weapons and

02:23culture and all that so it was very nice process this is a very nice guy he understood the movie you know we

02:31were able to share the vision of this movie and and he he was he understood what i was what i wanted to

02:38accomplish with this movie and he supported me a lot on it and he put the right team together to make

02:43this possible so very happy you know it's a luxury it's a luxury that i don't get to do much in you know as

02:51an actor so this was a beautiful opportunity for me and to be emotionally connected with this project

03:00and actually that helped me so much with the emotional scenes you know so yes definitely because

03:07it was a special project for me it was something that i wanted to communicate and i had a such a clear

03:13vision of how i i wanted to how how i wanted people to see it and to feel when they were watching each

03:22each scene so i was able to participate on picking the music and and the atmosphere and the camera

03:27angles and all that because every different element in it it helps to create the feeling of what you're

03:36seeing and that's so powerful to be to be able to have the luxury to to to do that you know so i'm very

03:42very grateful
