00:00I won't mind with your life now. Strictly results are in.
00:30Welcome to Surely Come Dancing. It's our first results show.
00:59The results show of 2024.
01:01Tess and I are talking in serious tones and that can mean only one thing.
01:06The return of the dance-off.
01:08After two weeks of performances and judges' scores, you have now had your say.
01:13Tonight, two couples must compete to stay in the ballroom and nobody wants to be the first to go home.
01:18And if that wasn't enough drama for you, then this might just do the trick.
01:22Opening our results show in style, please welcome our professional dancers and the judges!
01:28How can you leave me standing alone in a world that's so cold?
01:46Maybe I'm just too demanding.
01:52Maybe I'm just like my father, too bold.
01:59Maybe I'm just like my mother, she's never satisfied.
02:11Why do we scream at each other?
02:18This is what it sounds like when dads cry.
02:29How can you leave me standing alone?
02:30Maybe I'm not quite having your 따라.
02:31Maybe I'm just like my father, too.
02:32I'm just like my father, too young.
02:33You're being in my alley.
02:34Maybe I'm just like my father.
02:35Maybe I'm just like my father and my father.
02:36Maybe I'll never be maybe.
02:38Maybe I'll never be like my father, too.
05:39There is no one quite like our judges.
05:42Nice wig crepe.
05:44Thank you, judges, and to our professional dancers for that magnificent routine, choreographed by Jason Gilkisson.
05:49On Saturday night, our 15 couples danced for the second time, and there was everything from barbecues to bucking broncos.
05:57This is how it unfolded.
05:58How amazing was week two, what an evening, I felt everybody was more standing on their feet than sitting down.
06:09This is one of the strongest week two we've ever had, but I very rarely hand out an eight on week two.
06:19I know, I'm quite shocked.
06:20Yeah, me too.
06:21Yeah, me too.
06:21A lot less nerves I felt tonight.
06:26Yeah, yeah.
06:26So better performances all round. I thought it was an incredible improvement.
06:29I just put all my heart into it. I just put all my heart into it. It was a good routine. It was a hard routine, but loved it.
06:35That was amazing. I honestly feel like I'm on card nine at the minute.
06:39Getting the sassiness of the character out, I loved it.
06:43You were solid though.
06:44Well, yeah, you say that.
06:46Everyone's gone up there and laid their hearts out on the dance floor.
06:49My first Latin dance, it was absolutely incredible.
06:53Oh, that was amazing.
06:55Anyway.
06:56This combined leaderboard is looking really phenomenal.
07:03Tasha is up at the top. Absolutely fantastic. Great technique, alive on the dance floor.
07:13The highest ever score for Viennese waltz in week two, so you're smashed all over.
07:20I just thought, you know what, I'm not even gonna think about the Tasha's, the audience.
07:23I just want to dance our hearts out and I'll never forget what just happened.
07:27I love Sarah because she's very musical theatre. That's very down my alley.
07:33She is just phenomenal.
07:34I told her before we said that, you are going to be the queen of the dance floor and you did.
07:41Now, Shirley, you said that Chris was a perfect example to all the other celebrities on his footwork.
07:46Well, I really felt that he must have truly listened, rolling through his feet, what was a heel, what was a toe.
07:52Of course, he's got to work on his frame, but I was bowled away.
07:56Do you realize that you just got two eights?
07:59A six off Craig's like a 12 off anyone else.
08:01A six off Craig is literally like a 10.
08:06I think Jamie doing the rumble for me was a little bit disappointing.
08:10I thought it was absolutely fabulous.
08:11He hasn't had a lot of time to get any sort of dance inside his body.
08:15He did nail some of those fundamentals.
08:18My parents are fighting.
08:19Mommy, Daddy, stop.
08:23At the other end of the leaderboard, we have Paul and we have Toya.
08:28He is really trying and he's interesting to watch.
08:32There's nothing more we're going to talk about.
08:34No, I couldn't talk about you.
08:36I don't need more of them.
08:37I'm impressed with Toya.
08:40A brilliant sort of recovery, if you like.
08:43It's week two.
08:44You don't have to be perfect.
08:45Guy is the energy and she brings the energy.
08:47I gave it everything I had.
08:51I was just so focused.
08:53I enjoyed it immensely.
08:56I know one thing's for sure.
08:57Nobody wants to be the one who goes home first.
09:01And having had the experience of going home first, it's not a lot of fun.
09:05Somebody's going home and it's horrible.
09:13I really, really hope it's not us.
09:15You can be top of the leaderboard and still be in the dance-off.
09:18It's going to be very nerve-wracking standing there waiting.
09:20It's the first one.
09:21No one knows what's going to happen.
09:23It's sad that someone has to go home.
09:25I'm trying not to think about it, really.
09:26I mean, the pressure's on, isn't it?
09:28I don't want to go home and I don't want to stop.
09:30If it's me, I'll be guided.
09:32If it's someone else, I'll be guided.
09:34I'm having such a good time and I don't want it to end.
09:37I've done the best I could do.
09:38Now it's up to the public.
09:39Whatever happens tonight, happens.
09:42Nobody's truly safe, but fingers crossed, I hope I have.
09:46It would be everything to be here next week.
09:48I'm not ready to go yet.
09:50Birds flying high, you know how I feel.
09:55It has been a memorable start to Strictly 24.
10:05All of our couples have made their mark in the ballroom,
10:08but sadly, for one, the last dance is approaching.
10:12We've combined two weeks of judges' scores with your votes at home,
10:16and the results are in.
10:22In no particular order, the first couple safely through is...
10:26Pete and your Vito.
10:43Back to dance again are...
10:45Sarah and Vito.
10:53Oh, thank you!
10:54Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you.
11:03Returning to the ballroom are...
11:05Chris and Diane!
11:13CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
11:16Oh, thank you!
11:18Well done!
11:20Thank you so much!
11:24Joining us next Saturday are...
11:32Montel and Johanna!
11:34CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
11:35Also back are...
11:53JB and Amy!
11:57Well done!
11:58Thank you!
11:59Thank you, thank you!
12:00Thank you, thank you!
12:01And now the first couple who will face tonight's dance-off...
12:18is...
12:36Tom and Nadia!
12:38CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
12:40The rest of you will have to wait a little bit longer to find out if you are safe.
12:44Tom and Nadia, please come and join me.
12:52Oh, Tom, I'm so sorry.
12:55This is not where anybody wants to find themselves in the first results show.
12:59How are you feeling?
13:00Good. Yeah, good. I feel like we can really give it a good shot tonight, absolutely.
13:04Anton, what do you think Tom should now focus on in the dance-off?
13:08Um, work on just your performance.
13:10I mean, you're an Olympian, you know what it's like to stand on the blocks,
13:13ready to go in the final.
13:15Consider this a final.
13:16This is, you know, this is the moment, really,
13:18where you've got to put out your best performance.
13:21Keep going.
13:22Dance as though it's your final ever dance and enjoy yourself.
13:25CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
13:27I know you're going to go for it.
13:28Yep.
13:29It's not over yet.
13:31OK, we wish you the very, very best of Lock in the Dance-Off.
13:33We'll see you a little bit later on.
13:34Of course.
13:35Claudia, how's the mood upstairs?
13:36CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
13:37Jubilant text.
13:39So relieved there is some shot.
13:43OK, first one to be announced.
13:44I saw you get emotional.
13:46I did a little bit.
13:47I did a little bit.
13:48I wasn't expecting it, if I'm honest with you.
13:50I wasn't expecting it.
13:50It's official, you love dancing.
13:52Yeah, I felt slightly embarrassed when I said it,
13:54um, but I stand by it.
13:56I do, I love dancing.
13:57You beat it.
13:58He's got a holiday booked in November.
14:00Do you want him to check the cancellation terms and conditions?
14:04I already spoke to the airlines, so...
14:06LAUGHTER
14:08Fine, good, it's been cancelled.
14:09November's a long way off.
14:10Um, Montel, you look so surprised.
14:14Were you worried?
14:15I was in genuine shock.
14:16I think we can't take anything for granted in competition,
14:19and it's just sad that, you know, someone would be leaving.
14:22So I was really, really grateful that the Mojo fans came out to save us.
14:26They definitely did.
14:28Next week is movie week.
14:29Can you both give us a clue, please, as to what you're doing?
14:31OK.
14:33She's a...
14:34Dream girl.
14:36Amazing.
14:37CHEERING AND APPLAUSE
14:41JB, you and Paul have got a rivalry going on.
14:43It's got nothing to do with dancing.
14:45Please share with the group.
14:46That's why we're either side of you.
14:47Um, my son plays for Tottenham Academy.
14:50His son plays for Chelsea Academy, and they played the other day.
14:53I watched it.
14:54Yeah, he was there.
14:56You watched it?
14:57I didn't go, I was training.
14:58No.
14:59He still feeds me, he still feeds me.
15:04Um, Paul, on the subject of football, what have your fellow pundits said?
15:09Are they supportive and weepy, or are they taking the mix?
15:12No, no, they're not.
15:13They're supportive, very supportive.
15:15It takes a lot to come on this show.
15:17It takes a lot to come, for people to come on here who've not got a clue
15:20how to dance like me and Pete, and I'm loving it.
15:25Honestly, I really enjoy it.
15:26I really loved it.
15:27We love you being here.
15:29Um, Karen, you're not only a dance teacher, you've also, I believe,
15:32become a sort of personal trainer.
15:34Well, we do our squats, we do our, um, our push-ups, we do band work,
15:39we do everything.
15:39Soon we're going to dance.
15:40LAUGHTER
15:42We're working on the show for us.
15:45No, we won't.
15:46It takes a little bit of time.
15:47Chris, you actually have your own audio description
15:50throughout the show this year.
15:51Who's that?
15:52I spend the old show up here leaning over that thing,
15:55pretending to watch people dance.
15:56LAUGHTER
15:57I have Paul here, he stands next to me and he just goes,
16:03Oh, Chris, I mean, I'm not going to lie, he's amazing.
16:06I mean, I haven't even got the words to describe how amazing he is.
16:08LAUGHTER
16:09Chris, tell me about support.
16:12Well, do you know what?
16:12Like, I mean, first of all, your family's in Australia, aren't they?
16:16They are.
16:16And they've been sending little videos over.
16:19Good old Mark.
16:20Dad let the cat out of the bag, though.
16:22Go on.
16:23He let it slip that when Diane was paired with me,
16:26even though she claimed that she wanted to be with me,
16:30she said to her dad,
16:31don't worry, dad, winning isn't everything.
16:33LAUGHTER
16:35Look, Sarah, I've got a picture.
16:44Talk me through Percy.
16:45So, Percy is doing the Percy Doble in this picture.
16:50So, he's OK, but Vito straight away had some corrections for him.
16:55Yeah, no, it's like, doesn't close the feet, the poster is not straight,
16:58look with eyes a bit lost and worried.
17:00We need confidence, we need to build, you know, everything,
17:02so we have to bring through the strictly journey.
17:04Percy, Percy!
17:05There is something there.
17:06There is a good potential, you know, so we can work on it.
17:09He said, if surely see his paws are not together,
17:12he get nothing from you.
17:13LAUGHTER
17:15He's also an excellent cobbler. Tell me.
17:18Well, my shoe fell apart.
17:20I have to get my shoes on with a spoon, and he's like the Uri Geller.
17:23He's kind of a footwear, because he bends the spoon and gets his shoe on,
17:26but the shoe kind of got broken, didn't he?
17:29Yeah, I was trying to fix the shoe with this spoon,
17:31and after the spoon broke the shoes,
17:33and so after I took one of these gloves, I fixed the shoes with the glass,
17:36we put all the bandage around, your foot became like this just because of the bandage.
17:40He was determined.
17:41He was now with the bandage going, no, I can fix Sarah.
17:43We cannot waste the time, we have to keep going.
17:46I was like, I'm going, Vito, I don't think this is working.
17:48Can I just say something?
17:50This is my upsum of this chat.
17:52Vito being Vito is amazing, but Sarah being Vito is extraordinary.
17:55LAUGHTER
17:59Congratulations, we'll see you next week, and next week,
18:01it is movie week in the ballroom.
18:04Think Martin Scorsese, but twice as long.
18:10I think it would be amazing to make it to movie week.
18:12Shall we check out some clips to get all excited?
18:15Do you all want popcorn?
18:16Oh, I know the song.
18:17The, um, the little troll things, the little...
18:20Oh, it's trolls. Minions.
18:22Lots of minions.
18:23Look at Stacey's energy.
18:25I know.
18:27Oh, what's the film called?
18:29Oh, Austin Powers.
18:31Yeah.
18:31I think the hair and makeup is just fabulous.
18:34They thought Anton had false teeth in them.
18:36And they're not, that's just his teeth.
18:36They're his real muscles.
18:38He was just...
18:38He was revealing them a bit, kind of deliberately, I hope.
18:41I love this.
18:42All tea is just incredible.
18:44Really embody the character.
18:46It looks like it's a legit movie set film, isn't it?
18:48Yeah.
18:49One of my favourite films, 101 Dalmatians.
18:52I'm not a dog person.
18:54That's going to be the mask.
18:55It is the mask.
18:56Yes.
18:56I was literally in the movie all over again.
18:58And he put his own iconic stamp to that.
19:01I'm loving this.
19:02I love movie week.
19:04So I hope that I'm here to be able to do it.
19:08Do it.
19:08Really looking forward to movie week, yes?
19:10Well, I hope I get there.
19:10I'm nervous now.
19:13Do you know what you look good in, mate?
19:15Pop god.
19:18Now, for the first time this series, we must debrief.
19:24Please welcome the judges.
19:26Woo!
19:27Yes, we're there.
19:28Ah, we're there.
19:30Ah, we're there.
19:31Ah, we're there.
19:32Ah, we're there.
19:33Ah, we're there.
19:34Ah, we're there.
19:35Ah, we're there.
19:36Good God.
19:37Look at this.
19:38First off, we will discuss with you.
19:40What do you think of this new arrangement?
19:42I love it.
19:42Like you're in my kitchen.
19:44I love a semi-circle.
19:45Do you?
19:45And I love to sit next to you.
19:47Oh, well, that's what I'm worried about.
19:48No, don't be worried.
19:50Let's see how it goes.
19:51First off, Tom and Nadia.
19:53Wow.
19:54What?
19:54What's going on?
19:55There you are.
19:56Welcome to Strictly Come Dancing.
19:57Thank you very much.
19:58Half up the leaderboard, more or less.
20:00Boom.
20:01Dance off.
20:01But he's a champion, and I think he can function under pressure.
20:05I mean, if you're doing the Olympics,
20:06like, I don't want that type of pressure.
20:08So this, I kind of think he can deal with it.
20:11Let's see.
20:12Craig, I don't know what's going on with you,
20:14and I mean this with joy.
20:16Don't kick off.
20:16No, I'm not with you.
20:17With joy in my heart.
20:18But Craig was normally grumpy, grouchy, miserable,
20:22sometimes scratching himself, I've noticed when the camera's on.
20:25But when it came to Montel, you scored higher than both
20:28Shirley and Motsi.
20:30Yes.
20:30Is it the beard?
20:31Talk to me.
20:32No, I loved her.
20:33I just thought she came out.
20:34She really got down and into it.
20:37And I just loved the whole Beyonce beginning section.
20:42And then she didn't disappoint.
20:44I thought, oh, it's all going to go horribly wrong now.
20:46And actually, she really delighted me.
20:48I thought she was a breath of fresh air.
20:51It was just at the point in the show where I just went,
20:54oh, down tools.
20:55This is happening.
20:56It's great.
20:57Often with the samba, though, it starts strongly.
20:59And how many times have we seen a samba?
21:00Somebody goes, oh, and all that.
21:02And then they start doing the samba bit.
21:04And we all go, oh, hello.
21:05That's been a bit off.
21:06Speak for yourself.
21:07Well, you don't like it.
21:08Nobody's experienced it more than me, my love.
21:10I can tell you.
21:11But when you score higher, I just want to get into Revel Hall as well,
21:14score higher than these guys, do you go home slightly
21:17disappointed with yourself?
21:18No.
21:19Technical, technical, technical.
21:21What?
21:22Me?
21:22And I was just taken away by the whole dance.
21:26And I think, you know, it's one of those things where the music,
21:28the performance, the lighting, the costume, everything pulls together.
21:32And it becomes really special.
21:34Let me ask you about Shane, because you were all really impressed by him.
21:38Yes.
21:39On Saturday night, he went right up with his scores.
21:42What was it about the tango?
21:43I just think it was a change of mood.
21:45I actually think he was really competing this time.
21:48He was like, I'm going to show you.
21:49He had that type of energy within himself.
21:52He was quite sharp, staccato, driving, attack on all of the dance.
21:57I want to see him like this the whole competition.
21:59I enjoyed that thoroughly.
22:01And I do feel he's dancing to his potential now.
22:04So let us see more surprises from Shane.
22:07Why not?
22:07OK.
22:08You two, there was a bit of a ruckus on Saturday night.
22:10Oh, my God.
22:11I know.
22:12Well done, Switzerland.
22:13Over Jamie's rumba.
22:16You thought there was a connection.
22:17You didn't think there was a connection.
22:18One of you is correct.
22:19Who is it?
22:20Me.
22:21It's actually me.
22:22It really is actually me.
22:24It's actually me.
22:24It's actually me.
22:25Shirley, tell me.
22:27Well, we're on week two.
22:28You come ahead.
22:29If he would have done rumba in week eight,
22:30he would have had far more skills and far more tools.
22:33He came out.
22:34He did a beautiful figure eight with his hips.
22:36He had some lovely, gorgeous footwork, I thought.
22:39He needed a little bit more flow.
22:41Not a problem.
22:42But I found he was really in the dance.
22:44He was there.
22:45He was determined to give us a great performance.
22:48And I really enjoyed it.
22:49Actually, I was quite surprised.
22:51Yeah.
22:51Well, we did discuss that, actually, afterwards, didn't we?
22:54And, you know, I put it down to the fact that it is week two,
22:57probably.
22:58And he hasn't had the experience of the partnership for long enough,
23:03really, to be able to do a rumba.
23:06And that's what made it amazing.
23:07Well, that's what you think.
23:09I mean, I want to see the finished product,
23:10because he may not ever get to do that dance again.
23:13I mean, I'm sure he's hoping.
23:15Maybe, maybe.
23:16Who knows?
23:16He could be in the final.
23:17Yeah, but you just don't know, do you?
23:18But can we agree that you were both right?
23:20Yes, thank you.
23:21Switzerland.
23:22Clever call.
23:23Thank you so much.
23:25Let's hear it for the judges.
23:26Yay!
