00:00Hey there, I'm Zachary Quinto from NBC's Brilliant Minds,
00:03and today we are going to break down a scene from our Season 2 premiere.
00:07You ready?
00:08I'm sorry, Alien Hand Syndrome is the official name?
00:12It's also called Dr. Strangelove Syndrome.
00:14I'm not sure that's any better.
00:16Whatever it's called, this is a new one for me.
00:18No, not for me.
00:19I spent a summer in Haiti doing Doctors Without Borders.
00:22There was a fisherman who couldn't even cast his line,
00:24and no one could figure out what it was until I diagnosed him.
00:27Okay, so then you already know that it's a limb that acts as if by its own will
00:32without the brain's conscious control.
00:34You can see patients picking things up without realizing it,
00:37untying with one hand with the other hand just tied,
00:39and it can be violent.
00:41People have even strangled themselves.
00:43Punched themselves.
00:44Explains what happened in the ring.
00:45And what happened to you, Dr. Rolfe?
00:47AHS is not our answer.
00:49I feel like that was maybe our first day back this season.
00:52I love Erica's looks to Dana,
00:55and just the cutaways and the reactions that people are having.
01:01For him, a lifetime spy of creatine might not have to be for that long
01:04if whatever he has is terminal.
01:07I don't know how they did things at Cornell,
01:09but here we respect our patients.
01:12And we don't sit on my floor.
01:13I think it's a great encapsulation of this new energy in the hospital,
01:23Charlie Porter,
01:23and how he rubs everybody the wrong way a little bit.
01:27You know, don't sit on Wolf's desk.
01:28Don't touch his stuff.
01:30But for me, it's about choices as an actor.
01:33I've never really been somebody who,
01:35at least in film and television,
01:37takes my work home with me.
01:38My boundaries have always been pretty clear around my work.
01:41I think that's important for my own mental health and well-being, frankly.
01:45So for me, it's about, like,
01:47how can we make choices that are exciting together?
01:49And I think that's the fun of a scene like that.
