00:00We've had sad news obviously in New York this week about Dickie Bird, what are your reflections
00:14on the man?
00:15Yeah, very sad news, Dickie was the heartbeat of the club in many ways, someone that's been
00:22forever present since my involvement and a big part of the club, president for the two
00:28championship wins that we had and someone that was extremely generous with his time and just
00:36in general, obviously providing that balcony for the guys to watch from, very humorous,
00:44great fun to be around and just a real legend of the club really.
00:48It's not just a sad loss for the club but for English cricket, he offered in so many different
00:53areas and someone whose presence will be sorely lost around Eddingley.
00:57Any particular fond memories of him?
00:59A number, a number, as I mentioned the championship wins, he was there on every bus ride, enjoyed
01:06every win with us.
01:07There was actually one occasion where we were getting ready for a championship game and Cain
01:13Williamson was our overseas player at the time and he's come over and he said, Joe it's
01:17great, see you're doing so well for England, keep going lad, keep going lad and he turned
01:20into Cain and he said, if you keep going like you are, you'll be playing for England soon
01:22as well.
01:23He said, you look a good player.
01:27But yeah, he was just brilliant, like I say, a great person to have around the club that
01:34was desperate to see Yorkshire do well and thrive and yeah, he'll be sorely missed for
01:38sure.
