00:00:00This is an example of a video
00:00:28Salucci organization produced in order to convince people they were buying beachfront timeshare units as a state agent played by actors gave live walkers. You think I'm at the beach, but I'm not. This is virtual reality. The video was fake, and we have proof.
00:00:47I went undercover as an agent pretending to be...
00:00:58Didn't I do this story already?
00:01:00Mm-hmm. Twice. They finally gave it to me to do it right.
00:01:04I guess they're running out of conspiracy theories to debunk.
00:01:07Um, I don't have any notes for the closing segment.
00:01:12Probably because you didn't make any notes.
00:01:20You're the best.
00:01:22We're back in five, four, three, two, and...
00:01:27And another scam bites the dust. The Holiday Homes were a con, and that's fake-checked.
00:01:35And if you are a victim of the Lucci organization, visit the website I created where you can share your story and find useful resources.
00:01:42I'm so glad you created that website.
00:01:45Well, I like to go above and beyond for the people.
00:01:48And you've been doing that for years.
00:01:50With everyone.
00:01:51Why'd they have to break up?
00:01:56They had such great on-screen chemistry, and now it's just hard to watch.
00:02:02And thank you, Kennedy, for proving that time spent with you is never just fun at the beach.
00:02:06Oh, Beau.
00:02:08At least I didn't run scared of the turtle like you did the last time we went on vacation.
00:02:13On that note, remember, always...
00:02:16Fake check.
00:02:17Fake check.
00:02:19And we're out.
00:02:21Good job, crew.
00:02:24If you'll excuse us for a minute, I need to talk with Kennedy and Beau.
00:02:32Mindy!
00:02:33What's up?
00:02:34That was horrible.
00:02:35I'm sorry. I thought I was bringing something new to the segment.
00:02:38Not your segment.
00:02:39The show is not the problem.
00:02:41It's the two of you.
00:02:42Mindy, the stories are...
00:02:44The chemistry isn't there anymore.
00:02:46Oh, that must be Kennedy's issue.
00:02:47I mean, I have chemistry with everyone.
00:02:49And that was our problem.
00:02:52And disappearing faster than the chemistry are the viewers.
00:02:56Okay.
00:02:57We have to replace one of you.
00:02:58Oh.
00:02:59Kennedy, I'm so sorry.
00:03:01What makes you think it would be me?
00:03:03I actually work.
00:03:05They're not going to fire me.
00:03:06I have seniority.
00:03:07I mean, I was hosting back when you were just a production assistant.
00:03:10Show me your best work.
00:03:12Whichever of you produces the better segment keeps their job.
00:03:16The other...
00:03:18Produce.
00:03:20Well, may the best man win.
00:03:23You're best work.
00:03:34He stole my heart and broke it.
00:03:36I gave him my best stories.
00:03:38I am not letting him take my job away from me, too.
00:03:41I told you he wasn't any good.
00:03:43Sienna, you loved Bo.
00:03:46Okay, like, only for the first couple years.
00:03:48I had so many plans for our future.
00:03:50He just threw them away.
00:03:52Is that chocolate chip?
00:03:54Of course.
00:03:56Oh.
00:04:01So you need a great story, right?
00:04:04No.
00:04:05I need an amazing story.
00:04:07What about something everyone thought was extinct?
00:04:10Like love?
00:04:11Love's not extinct.
00:04:12That's where you're wrong.
00:04:13Love is extinct.
00:04:14Listen, my birding group was all on Twitter today.
00:04:18Get it?
00:04:20Twitter?
00:04:20What a hoot.
00:04:22There's this picture going around about an exotic parrot that hasn't been seen in, like,
00:04:27over 40 years.
00:04:29Okay.
00:04:30They thought it was extinct.
00:04:31But now everyone's like, maybe it's still alive.
00:04:35Sienna, how many genuine photos have I proven to be a fake over the years?
00:04:40Starting with the one with Dad?
00:04:41I know.
00:04:43It's your job, and you're really good at it.
00:04:45But some of the photos have been real, right?
00:04:49Rarely.
00:04:50Occasionally.
00:04:51And look at this picture.
00:04:54Isn't it gorgeous?
00:04:56How can you tell?
00:04:57It's so blurry.
00:04:58Okay, so they weren't great photographers.
00:05:00Mmm.
00:05:04Mmm.
00:05:05Our discovery of the week is the extinct Polson Trybrook parrot.
00:05:14If this online photo is real, we need to head straight to St. Lucia, right?
00:05:18Totally.
00:05:19But the original photo has already been taken down.
00:05:21I mean, that's got to prove it's legit, right?
00:05:24It hasn't been seen in, what, half a century?
00:05:25It has to be the Polson parrot.
00:05:28It has the famous fuchsia heart shape on its chest feathers.
00:05:31Well, the St. Lucia Conservation Centre are asking for donations, so I hope you all share and donate.
00:05:38Gotta be a scam.
00:05:40But it's getting traction.
00:05:41Three million views.
00:05:42And it's only been a few days.
00:05:44I really think this is your story.
00:05:46Proving an international viral photo is a fraud.
00:05:50Used by some wildlife centre to tug at people's heartstrings, get into their wallets.
00:05:57That could be a story that could get bowed off the show.
00:06:02Extinction Extortion Exposed.
00:06:05That's the title.
00:06:06I really thought we were going with more of an endearing heartstrings crabbing story of a beautiful bird brought back from extinction.
00:06:14That's ridiculous.
00:06:16But people really want to buy into this.
00:06:18I mean, that's already a website where you can buy parrot t-shirts, mugs, phone covers.
00:06:27I'm going to report on that conservation centre and prove that parrot is extinct.
00:06:33Or maybe you'll see that things thought extinct can come back to life.
00:06:38St. Lucia, here I come.
00:06:40You may be.
00:06:52kami.
00:06:52We'll see you next time.
00:06:53Bye.
00:06:54Okay, so we still have a couple spots to fill for tomorrow's tour.
00:07:20Are you encouraging guests to what?
00:07:25Jake.
00:07:26Hello.
00:07:27Earth to Jake.
00:07:28Okay, you know what I was going to tell you.
00:07:29I'm just going to have Ray take over the tours for a while because I think he'll really help
00:07:31with reviews.
00:07:32Oh, hi.
00:07:33Hi.
00:07:34Hi there.
00:07:35Are you checking in?
00:07:36Kennedy Webber.
00:07:37Welcome to Coconut Bay Beach Resort and Spa, Ms. Webber.
00:07:40I'm Ann Miners, the reservations manager and wedding coordinator, and this is Jake Harper,
00:07:44our guest experience rep.
00:07:46What brings you to the island?
00:07:47I'm a reporter doing a story about the Poulsen tribe of Parrot, the bird that's been in the
00:07:51news.
00:07:52I've had a few guests ask about that.
00:07:54So, have you found anything out yet?
00:07:55Do you know where it is?
00:07:56I was going to ask you the same thing.
00:07:58Know who posted the photo online?
00:07:59No.
00:08:00No.
00:08:01No, it's a mystery.
00:08:03But I think they've taken it down, right?
00:08:05Yes.
00:08:06Which is even more suspicious.
00:08:08Suspicious.
00:08:09So, Kennedy, right?
00:08:12We have the best island tour for you, and I think you're really going to love it.
00:08:16It's of the catamarans, the pitons, the jungle.
00:08:18Our new tour guide is very knowledgeable.
00:08:20Sounds like a quick way to get footage of the island.
00:08:23Sign me up.
00:08:24Perfect.
00:08:25Okay, now, before you get settled in, let me show you a room.
00:08:27And I'll follow you straight to your room.
00:08:29With your bags.
00:08:30But, you know, look, not in a stalkerish way.
00:08:33No, I'm saying I'm going to get the bags and follow you, and then I'm going to drop them off.
00:08:40I'm not going to watch you do your thing the whole day.
00:08:43I'll get your bags.
00:08:56Rosemary?
00:09:00Yeah, I'm here.
00:09:02No, I haven't found the iguana yet.
00:09:05But Rosemary's not going to hurt anyone.
00:09:07Yes, I know about their guest's complaints, but she just likes meeting new people.
00:09:11And through there, we have our gym and sanctuary spa.
00:09:15I don't think I'll have time for the spa.
00:09:18Oh, we have amazing new local organic treatments like our cocoa scrub grown on a plantation right through the island.
00:09:25I don't expect to be here long.
00:09:27Well, if you need anything at all, I'll be here.
00:09:30Yeah, well, please, if you hear anything about the parrot, let me know.
00:09:33Of course.
00:09:34Yeah.
00:09:35Yeah.
00:09:36That's pretty hard.
00:09:37No, there's various objects.
00:09:38No sir.
00:09:39There's nothing from here.
00:09:40No sir.
00:09:41No sir.
00:09:42No sir.
00:09:43Yeah.
00:09:45No.
00:09:46No sir.
00:09:47No sir.
00:09:48No sir.
00:09:50No sir.
00:09:51Your chivalry is dead.
00:10:09I cannot believe this.
00:10:11We will get your dress dry-cleaned immediately.
00:10:14It's fine.
00:10:15Really.
00:10:16It's fine.
00:10:17It's not your fault.
00:10:19It's his.
00:10:20Uh, yeah, sorry about that.
00:10:22Okay.
00:10:23Look, I'm sorry you fell in the pool, but you're the one who scared Rosemary.
00:10:28Rosemary?
00:10:29That dragon?
00:10:31It's not a dragon.
00:10:33It's a St. Lucian iguana.
00:10:34Okay, Kennedy, please, how can we make this up to you?
00:10:37It's fine.
00:10:38Really fine.
00:10:39Just my favorite shoe shrinker by the second.
00:10:42Um, you know, I just gotta get back to work.
00:10:44So, if you would excuse me.
00:10:50What was that for?
00:10:54You are never gonna get a date if you keep acting like that.
00:10:57Look, I had to save Rosemary.
00:11:00You left her in a pool.
00:11:02Okay, I guess I am better with animals than I am with women.
00:11:14Mm-hmm.
00:11:16Well, you sure couldn't be any worse.
00:11:17Hello?
00:11:33Hello?
00:11:35Hi!
00:11:38Hello!
00:11:39Hello?
00:11:41Hi!
00:11:42Hello!
00:11:43Hello!
00:11:44Hello!
00:11:45hello hello hello hello hello hello hello hello you dragon guy wasn't expecting to see you again
00:11:57so soon i was hoping to talk to someone about the polston tribrook parrot okay well it's about
00:12:03the photo that's been in the news oh it's not real oh you think it's a fake too it's not a
00:12:09picture of the polston tribrook okay i had a couple of questions nope no interview
00:12:16the center's been getting a lot of money since the news went viral we had nothing to do with
00:12:26that photo it's quite convenient you've had a record amount of donations oh so what you're
00:12:31saying is that these animals don't deserve people's goodwill to help them no no that's not what i'm
00:12:36saying look people saw the photo and they want to help out other rare animals on the island
00:12:41like max here he's a endemic parrot that i rescued as a chick so we'll use those donations to help
00:12:49out his rehabilitation because he can't go back into the wild that's lovely you know i didn't mean
00:12:54this center it's you know it's just some organizations aren't the charitable operations
00:12:58they present online right so do you have all the evidence you need now are we done do you agree
00:13:05there's no way this parrot could have possibly been rediscovered after all these years look i've
00:13:11worked with rare birds for the last 10 years i've never come across them but interest in it makes
00:13:16people want to donate so we'll use that money to help save other animals from suffering the same fate
00:13:21as that parrot so you'd like to see this myth go on and on no not at all tourists trampling over
00:13:27natural habitats looking for some miracle bird puts other breeds in jeopardy it are you filming me
00:13:32if you can help prove this photo's a fake i can stop unwanted traffic and help emphasize the
00:13:40importance of animals that can't be protected just agree to an official interview and i'll go away
00:13:46oh no no no no come on you've got a face for camera it'll only take a minute
00:13:51oh aren't you the sweet talker but no can do
00:13:54do you know who took the picture look i don't want to be rude but i've got an island tour to lead so
00:14:00if you'll excuse me i also have a catamaran tour to get to but maybe we can talk later
00:14:05130 friars dock i hear the tour guide is very knowledgeable
00:14:10i'll try not to disappoint
00:14:13kennedy hey hi i'm really excited and i'm gonna make sure this tour is an extra special for you today
00:14:30okay oh thanks we really need ray to check over the boat before we can set sail right uh hope you
00:14:38brought your bathing suit today just in case you fall in the water that depends did you bring a dragon
00:14:43it's not a dragon it's a saint lucian iguana and no rosemary will not be joining us today
00:14:49it was a joke not very funny
00:14:55okay all right
00:15:00do you know um do you know the bird
00:15:30was named after an ornithologist yeah that's um that's like a like a bird guy right and he first
00:15:37discovered it in 1776 is that so yeah he discovered it near three brooks that all converged together
00:15:45that's that's why you know it's named um you know tri-brook yeah
00:15:50uh
00:15:54madame
00:15:56thank you it's from my website
00:16:03so you own the website with all the souvenirs uh-huh look designed it all myself great yeah
00:16:10i guess the sudden news the bird has been rediscovered must be good for business oh no no no i
00:16:17no no listen i had nothing to do with the post or the photo all right i'm just an entrepreneur who saw
00:16:22an opportunity to sell my own designs right i want to get your camera ready for this one
00:16:28ladies and gentlemen the patones of saint lucia
00:16:34you
00:16:58the gross and petite patones are dormant volcanoes the rich volcanic soil allows for some unique flowers to
00:17:04to grow there. As you know, St. Lucia has several distinct areas for vegetation. Some
00:17:10trees growing on the batons cannot be found anywhere else on the island.
00:17:24Watch your step there. There you go. Good job. Oh, there you are. I'll be careful now.
00:17:29There you go. You got it, sir. Enjoy the tour? It was educational. Yeah? See, I would have caught you if you fell in the water this time. Okay? Yeah. You're okay. Are you okay? Easy with the gas miners. What are you? It's okay. Sorry about that. So listen, please keep this on you at all times. What's that? This is GPS, all right? Just in case you get lost in the jungle. I mean, look, no one ever does.
00:17:59But, you know, it's the first time for everything. Good to know. All right. Hey, good seeing you.
00:18:06Well, everybody's got their GPS units now. Are you okay?
00:18:21We have lots of cashew trees back in here.
00:18:24Some days you might see Tarzan swinging through the jungle back here with all these vines.
00:18:29So, uh, will your, um, boyfriend be joining you on this trip at all?
00:18:36There's no boyfriend.
00:18:36And although we're a small island, we have a large animal population, around 2,000 native species, and about 10% of that can't be found anywhere else in the world.
00:18:48Does that include those extinct?
00:18:50Uh, completely different list.
00:18:52Kennedy?
00:18:54Excuse me. Um, just wait. Just wait right up there. Yeah.
00:18:57Jake, do me a favor.
00:18:58Just lead the rest of the group up the trail. I'll be right back, okay?
00:19:00All right, guys. Go on.
00:19:02Kennedy?
00:19:08Kennedy?
00:19:10Kennedy?
00:19:19Kennedy, stop where you're at.
00:19:21Don't move.
00:19:21Kennedy?
00:19:33St. Lucian boa.
00:19:34It's the largest and rarest subspecies on the island, and we're protecting it with our conservation efforts.
00:19:40It's not venomous or aggressive.
00:19:43So it's totally safe.
00:19:44Just a very, very style.
00:19:47She's beautiful, huh?
00:19:48No, okay. Not a snake van?
00:19:58No, I came face to face with a snake at my grandparents' farm.
00:20:02I was expecting you again.
00:20:08We should probably get back to the group.
00:20:18St. Lucia is one of the most mountainous islands in the Caribbean.
00:20:23Combined with all the rain we get during the wet season, we have an abundance of waterfalls.
00:20:28Hope you brought your bathing suit, because you're welcome to get in and enjoy.
00:20:33Come on, it'll be fun.
00:20:39Hey sis, how's it going?
00:20:41Is it a waterfall?
00:20:43Are you going in?
00:20:44No, I can't right now.
00:20:46Seriously?
00:20:48Oh please.
00:20:49I sound like Ray.
00:20:50Ray?
00:20:51Who's Ray?
00:20:52Did you meet a guy?
00:20:53I'm on international roaming.
00:20:55I can't afford a conversation about my love life.
00:20:58Now, can you get in touch with your birdwatching contacts and find out anything you can about the photo?
00:21:03Who posted it?
00:21:04Where?
00:21:05When?
00:21:06How?
00:21:07Can you do that for me please?
00:21:09Sure, I'm on it.
00:21:10So, which one of the hotties is Ray?
00:21:14It's not that guy, is it?
00:21:21Look, I gotta go.
00:21:23But let me know if you find out anything, okay?
00:21:25Bye.
00:21:26Wait!
00:21:28Ray.
00:21:30Kennedy and Ray.
00:21:32Renity.
00:21:33Cray.
00:21:36Renity.
00:21:37Okay.
00:21:38Who's next?
00:21:39The view is amazing going down.
00:21:40Oh no.
00:21:41I'm not ziplining.
00:21:42Oh.
00:21:43It's a long walk back.
00:21:44You'll enjoy it, I promise.
00:21:45Oh Ray, you know that bird picture everyone's talking about?
00:21:48Will we see the parrot up here?
00:21:50I'm afraid not, Mildred.
00:21:51I'm afraid not, Mildred.
00:21:52I'm not sure that species still exists.
00:21:53But there are many other rare and exotic animals on this island that could use your support.
00:21:57It's just amazing the work that you do.
00:21:58I'm donating as soon as I get home.
00:21:59Well, we welcome all support for local conservation work.
00:22:00Wonderful.
00:22:01See you at the bottom, Jay.
00:22:02All set.
00:22:03Off you go.
00:22:06Woohoo!
00:22:25Woohoo!
00:22:26Woohoo!
00:22:28Woohoo!
00:22:29Woohoo!
00:22:30Okay. All right, Jake.
00:22:32Nice.
00:22:37You ready?
00:22:39Let's get you hooked up.
00:22:44Okay. Let me tell you something before you go.
00:22:47Remember to open your eyes.
00:22:50You'll thank me later.
00:23:00That was incredible.
00:23:22I'm telling you.
00:23:23This island has a lot to offer if you just give it a chance.
00:23:26We just have to do that.
00:23:28All right, listen up, everyone.
00:23:30Please turn in your GPS units to me.
00:23:33Good job, Jake.
00:23:34And special treat for you guys.
00:23:37If anybody wants to buy, boom!
00:23:39Stylish hat designed by yours truly.
00:23:42Check it out.
00:23:43Huh? Talk to me at the resort.
00:23:45Designed it all myself.
00:23:46I am a designer.
00:23:47Boom! Look at this stylish t-shirt.
00:23:49Just hold it.
00:23:50You don't have to pay now.
00:23:58I am a designer.
00:23:59I am a designer.
00:24:00I am a designer.
00:24:01I am a designer.
00:24:02I am a designer.
00:24:03I am a designer.
00:24:04I am a designer.
00:24:05I am a designer.
00:24:06Dinner's all set.
00:24:07Thanks.
00:24:08Oh, hey.
00:24:09Do you know how to get to the tribrook, the place where the bird was first seen?
00:24:12I can't seem to find anything about it online.
00:24:15You won't find the parrot there.
00:24:17That's a crucial part of the story.
00:24:20If it'll help, Ray could take you.
00:24:25Oh, no.
00:24:26I wouldn't want to bother him.
00:24:27I'm sure he's busy.
00:24:29Okay.
00:24:32But he does know how to avoid the tarantulas and poisonous centipedes you might encounter.
00:24:37Tarantulas?
00:24:40I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask if he's around.
00:24:45You know, he might be free.
00:24:50Hey, look over there.
00:25:18It's a dragon!
00:25:20It's not a dragon.
00:25:21This is St. Lucian Iguana.
00:25:23And you're sure we won't find the parrots at Tribrook?
00:25:29I've closely monitored the site.
00:25:31They're not there.
00:25:32Seems like you're making a lot of effort for this story.
00:25:37I need something really compelling to win this competition at work.
00:25:41Must be a nice prize to get you all the way down here.
00:25:46I get to keep my job?
00:25:49Uh, my ex and I are co-hosts of this show called The Fake Checkers.
00:25:54And it's not the best working relationship.
00:25:56They're gonna get rid of one of us, so I really need to hit it out of the park with this story.
00:26:02Job's that important, huh?
00:26:05That's all I've got right now.
00:26:08I like doing stories that help protect people.
00:26:11You know, save them from scammers and fraud.
00:26:15Despite the unusual job you have.
00:26:19A fake picture lost my dad his re-election for mayor.
00:26:23A photo showed him buddying up to a developer everyone knew he was a crook and we swore to stop.
00:26:29It broke his heart that people thought he was corrupt.
00:26:32But the opposition had pictures.
00:26:35They were fake, obviously.
00:26:37But people didn't know that or believe that at the time.
00:26:42My dad was a great mayor.
00:26:44He did a lot for the city.
00:26:47And all of that was forgotten because of one photo.
00:26:52I eventually proved it was a fake.
00:26:56But by then it was too late.
00:27:13This is Trybrook.
00:27:15Where are the brooks?
00:27:16They dried up a long time ago.
00:27:18Three streams, just right up.
00:27:21Oh.
00:27:22The ecosystem changes.
00:27:25Like...
00:27:27These birds.
00:27:28They adapted to the change in vegetation.
00:27:30But the Post and Trybrook parrot didn't.
00:27:32Which explains why they probably went extinct.
00:27:34They could have migrated elsewhere?
00:27:36No, I don't think that's the case.
00:27:38There's a myth about the parrot that had it hunted into extinction by believers decades ago.
00:27:43What's the myth?
00:27:45Look, we have real animals in need here.
00:27:47For example, the St. Lucian parrot was on the verge of extinction until our conservation efforts kicked in.
00:27:52Now the numbers are increasing each year.
00:27:55And that goes for forests, too.
00:27:57There were less than a hundred pencil cedar trees until a few years ago.
00:28:00Well, if you agree to an interview, I could tell the world about your work.
00:28:04Nope, no interview.
00:28:05Why not?
00:28:06It could help with donations.
00:28:07I just think I'd do more harm than good in front of that camera.
00:28:09Hmm.
00:28:10Hmm.
00:28:11I guess I'll have to wait to interview the parrot.
00:28:16Okay.
00:28:17Every time I do one of these stories, I think, maybe this is the one.
00:28:31But then I start looking into it, and it's always disappointing.
00:28:36But let's be real.
00:28:38Things don't just come back to life.
00:28:40That's fantasy.
00:28:41Well, you're in a living fantasy right now.
00:28:45Say, do you need to get back right away?
00:28:51Hmm?
00:28:52You need to get back right away.
00:28:54We're supposed to be working.
00:28:58Well, work can wait.
00:29:24T applic relação.
00:29:31Do you know you need to go back right away?
00:29:33T.
00:29:36gov?
00:29:43Stingrays!
00:29:45It's okay, alright?
00:29:48Just...
00:29:49They're calm.
00:29:50They're in their natural habitat.
00:29:51We're the ones invading, see?
00:29:53So if you just relax, everything will be fine.
00:29:56Just allow them to swim around you.
00:30:00You're doing great.
00:30:02I'm putting my hands down.
00:30:10Amazing, huh?
00:30:12I didn't realize how much I needed this.
00:30:23I couldn't believe you were that great of a swimmer.
00:30:34I thought the stingray would feel a lot rougher.
00:30:38You know, well, that was surprising that you did that.
00:30:41I surprised myself.
00:30:43Oh, you two look like you've been having fun.
00:30:47You working hard?
00:30:48Oh, me? Have a great day preparing another wedding?
00:30:50Well, soon you'll be doing that for yourself.
00:30:52Oh, I forget the time.
00:30:54It is wedding season all year round here.
00:30:56You're engaged?
00:30:59He actually proposed right here on the beach.
00:31:03But I've been so busy yet, we haven't even gotten around to setting a date.
00:31:07So whose wedding are you planning?
00:31:09Oh, it is for a VIP guest.
00:31:12All top secret.
00:31:13You know what these celebrity weddings are.
00:31:15They don't give you any details so that there aren't any press leaks.
00:31:19Excuse me.
00:31:20Oh, no, that's not going to work.
00:31:23But, thank you, they did say spare no expense.
00:31:27So, I'm creating my own little dream wedding.
00:31:31So, how was your day?
00:31:33I touched a stingray.
00:31:35Oh, weren't you scared?
00:31:37Not Kennedy.
00:31:38Oh, are you trying to impress a certain someone with a special tour of the island, Ray?
00:31:48So, how did you two end up in St. Lucia?
00:31:50Well, Ray always wanted to work in conservation in the Caribbean.
00:31:53But after our parents passed, he didn't want to leave me alone in the States.
00:31:58So, I suggested we both move down.
00:32:02Well, really, I was just tired of shoveling snow in Syracuse.
00:32:05Figured I would shovel sand in St. Lucia.
00:32:08My dad always said family's what matters most.
00:32:12Well, your dad sounds like a good man.
00:32:13Kind of remind me of him in a way.
00:32:16Where you use science to make a difference.
00:32:18He used the government.
00:32:19My dad was mayor of Albany County.
00:32:23Mayor James Weber!
00:32:25You used to talk about him.
00:32:27Yeah, he was really influential in the small city environmental movement.
00:32:32How cool.
00:32:33You're Mayor Weber's daughter.
00:32:36Uh, well, I should get back.
00:32:39Max gets pretty vocal when his dinner's late.
00:32:41Well, thanks for today.
00:32:43I really enjoyed it.
00:32:46No problem.
00:32:49Hi.
00:32:56I had a good time, too.
00:33:05You like her.
00:33:07She's growing on me.
00:33:14Ray seems genuine.
00:33:17The Conservation Center is doing great work.
00:33:19Maybe the bird is real.
00:33:22I'm so glad you created that website.
00:33:25And thank you, Kennedy, for proving that time spent with you is never just fun at the beach.
00:33:30Oh, oh.
00:33:32At least I didn't run scared of...
00:33:33Good morning, Sienna.
00:33:49Good morning, Sienna.
00:33:51Hey.
00:33:51I got a lead on who uploaded the picture.
00:33:53The buzz going around is that the picture came from a local on the island with the last name of Miners.
00:34:00Miners?
00:34:01How'd you know?
00:34:02I got a screenshot of the original post.
00:34:04You can just make it out in the corner.
00:34:06Ann Miners.
00:34:08Ann?
00:34:08Um, can you send me that?
00:34:12Sure.
00:34:16I didn't mean to deceive you.
00:34:18Ray was so upset when I posted the picture.
00:34:20I took it down as soon as he told me the damage it could do, but by then people were sharing and talking about it.
00:34:25So he had nothing to do with posting it or Jake's website?
00:34:29No, and he really didn't even want Jake to make the site.
00:34:32He thinks it brings unwanted attention.
00:34:35I'm sorry, Kennedy.
00:34:37I just wanted to see if any other birdwatchers thought it was real.
00:34:41So where did the photo come from then?
00:34:43A couple.
00:34:44The Sawyers, honeymooning here at the resort.
00:34:46They took the photo, but they couldn't identify it with any of the birds in any of their birdwatching apps.
00:34:51I showed the photo to Ray, and he said the feather pattern matched the Poulsen-Trybrook parrot, but that the bird was extinct.
00:35:00I really wanted to believe they'd come back, because if they're real, Ray'd be the perfect person to protect them.
00:35:09I need to talk with that couple.
00:35:11They left.
00:35:12Ray rang them to try and find out what trail they were on, but he couldn't find anything.
00:35:15Oh, oh, you could talk to the locals that had the last confirmed sighting 40 years ago.
00:35:22Maybe they can help with the film.
00:35:24They're still around.
00:35:25Oh, yeah.
00:35:25Teresa, she officiates all of our weddings, and they live right nearby.
00:35:29That could be helpful.
00:35:31I'd like to get their take on the picture.
00:35:33Thank you, Anne.
00:35:34Of course.
00:35:42Bikes!
00:35:42Well, I figured we could go off the beaten path.
00:35:50Listen, I didn't mean to lie to you about my sister.
00:35:54I just didn't want her being linked to your story as their intentions were good.
00:35:58She's an eternal optimist.
00:36:02It's okay.
00:36:04And I appreciate you taking me to see the couple.
00:36:07Well, that's the least I could do.
00:36:10Shall we?
00:36:11Okay.
00:36:29How far?
00:36:30Oh, just a few ways.
00:36:32We saw the beautiful creature while on a hike.
00:36:44The first one we took after getting engaged.
00:36:47We used to hike the island all the time in those days.
00:36:52Yeah, we kind of don't anymore.
00:36:54Now we watch the beauty right here from our porch.
00:36:57Well, how did you know it was the Poulsen Tribrook Parak?
00:37:01It's beautiful, fuchsia heart shape on its chest feathers.
00:37:06But most of all, it's calm.
00:37:08It's very distinctive.
00:37:10I could make it for you if you like.
00:37:12Please.
00:37:15Are you ready?
00:37:16Are you ready?
00:37:16Amazing, thank you.
00:37:26Now, do you think the bird is extinct?
00:37:29Oh, no.
00:37:30Really?
00:37:30The Poulsen Tribrook Parak will remain as difficult to find as true love.
00:37:41And only those who found true love will ever find the bird.
00:37:47The heart-shaped feathers are a local symbol for love.
00:37:54It's why we use future flowers in our wedding ceremonies.
00:37:59But the photo could still be a fake.
00:38:01I can show you.
00:38:03I took a picture of a St. Lucia parrot.
00:38:06And look.
00:38:08When you add some motion blur.
00:38:14Change the color hue.
00:38:17And then when we compare.
00:38:21You see, the picture of the Poulsen Tribrook Parak could be easily recreated.
00:38:26There hasn't been a sighting in nearly half a century.
00:38:29But you still think the bird is alive?
00:38:31I just think there aren't as many couples around who have found true love.
00:38:36So they can't find the bird.
00:38:38But you said you went to Tribrook and Descartes, but that's not where we found them.
00:38:47I can show you if you like.
00:38:49Okay.
00:38:50So, you guys will here.
00:38:52Go here.
00:38:54This area.
00:38:54You're still skeptical?
00:39:11I mean, true love?
00:39:16Aren't you?
00:39:18Yeah.
00:39:19Right.
00:39:20And the rate you're going, we're never going to see a gnarly time.
00:39:24Oh, someone's in a rush.
00:39:25Somebody.
00:39:32Oh, my God.
00:39:35Are you all right?
00:39:37Oh.
00:39:40That's what I get for trying to keep an eye on you.
00:39:42Oh.
00:39:48Wait.
00:39:48Does this look familiar to you?
00:39:59Does this look familiar to you?
00:39:59What's that?
00:40:23It's a bird trap.
00:40:26Poachers were here.
00:40:26You don't think they're trying to capture the parrot?
00:40:31Oh.
00:40:32Ours or any other rare exotic bird on the island, they bring back a big payday as pets in the black market.
00:40:38That's horrible.
00:40:39This is where I was afraid would happen.
00:40:42I can't protect an area based on a myth.
00:40:45If the parrot does exist, we need to find it before anyone else does.
00:40:49So you believe it now?
00:40:51Oh.
00:40:52Someone does.
00:40:54Let's get out of here in case they see us down here.
00:40:56There's one poked us here before.
00:41:12Yeah?
00:41:12Yeah.
00:41:13That's one of those signs of the other.
00:41:14Hey.
00:41:15Hey, guys.
00:41:16Anne.
00:41:16What you got?
00:41:17Hey.
00:41:17Hey.
00:41:18You guys, look what I found.
00:41:20A bird, the black-browed babbler, has been found in Indonesia after being missing for 170 years.
00:41:27See?
00:41:28Things can unexpectedly reappear.
00:41:31And speaking of unexpected, you see that couple over there?
00:41:35They're the honeymooners who took the original photo.
00:41:37Yeah.
00:41:39Let's go talk to him.
00:41:40Okay, right.
00:41:41Right, right, right, right.
00:41:43Check it out.
00:41:44Super legit, right?
00:41:48It's definitely the pulse of Shrybrook parrot.
00:41:51It flew right over us.
00:41:52I took that still from the video if you'd like to see it.
00:41:55Yeah.
00:41:56Yeah.
00:41:57Bye.
00:41:57It doesn't look like any bird I've seen on the island.
00:42:09It's incredible.
00:42:10It's 100% real.
00:42:13Why did you come back?
00:42:15Jake, the guest experience guy, yeah, he contacted us.
00:42:19He said that we won the love bird special.
00:42:24Do you know anything about this?
00:42:25Uh, no, I've never heard of that before.
00:42:30You said you were on the Descartier Trail, but I didn't have any luck there.
00:42:34Could you show us where you were at when you took that video?
00:42:38Yeah, sure.
00:42:39Uh, we were right about here.
00:42:50You up for an adventure?
00:42:55These views are stunning.
00:43:11That's what I love about this island.
00:43:13It never gets old.
00:43:14So what do you think about the sauners?
00:43:18They seem genuine.
00:43:20And their video, too.
00:43:22Yeah, so you believe that that bird is still alive.
00:43:26Out there, too, huh?
00:43:28Wouldn't it be amazing?
00:43:30The odds are against it.
00:43:31My scientific mind says that it can't be.
00:43:33What does your heart say?
00:43:35I haven't listened to that in years.
00:43:37It'd get me in trouble.
00:43:38Well, maybe that's our problem.
00:43:42It only appears to believers of true love.
00:43:44Well, you better slow down.
00:44:05You're going to wear yourself out.
00:44:06No way.
00:44:07I've been hitting the gym.
00:44:08I can share my exercise routine with you.
00:44:11Oh, your exercise routine.
00:44:12I've got the whole island exercising.
00:44:15Does beat the treadmill.
00:44:18It does.
00:44:23Jake, what are you doing here, bud?
00:44:29Hey, guys, hey.
00:44:32Probably same as you.
00:44:33Trying to get a lucky glimpse of our mysterious friend.
00:44:36Did you get the Sawyers to bring you here?
00:44:39Yeah, yeah.
00:44:39They previously said it was in this area, but, you know, no one's ever seen it.
00:44:43So I thought I'd bring them back out to retrace their steps.
00:44:47But, you know, this is the area they brought me.
00:44:49I know how important finding the parrot is to you, so I thought I'd help.
00:44:54Have you seen it?
00:44:55No.
00:44:56Four hours, nothing.
00:44:58The tribrook is not here.
00:45:02I told you to leave these birds alone, Jake.
00:45:04These areas are protected.
00:45:05Yeah, but this would be great for St. Lucia.
00:45:08Besides, if you don't believe they're back, why are you out here scurrying around?
00:45:10I just saw your T-shirts, Jake.
00:45:12Let us see if the Sawyers were right.
00:45:14All right, all right, all right.
00:45:15I'll head back.
00:45:16I'll sell my T-shirts soon.
00:45:17That was weird.
00:45:24I know.
00:45:26Jake's never been interested in conservation work before this.
00:45:29Isn't it a good thing that this photo is getting people interested in protecting endangered species?
00:45:36Yeah, but even well-intentioned supporters can do more harm than good if a conservation strategy isn't in place first.
00:45:42Wilderness without wildlife is just scenery.
00:45:44Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:45:47No, I wasn't recording.
00:45:47No, we're not recording.
00:45:48I wasn't recording.
00:45:49Oh!
00:45:55We should probably look around.
00:45:58Yeah.
00:46:00Come on.
00:46:02No more filming, then.
00:46:03Yeah.
00:46:14I was really starting to think, but maybe...
00:46:26You know, when I told you that I'd heard of your father?
00:46:38It turns out he was actually a founder of the Wildlife and Conservation Board for Small Cities that I now serve on.
00:46:46No way.
00:46:48Yeah.
00:46:49Small world.
00:46:54I, uh...
00:46:55I read a lot of his reports, and he was way ahead of his time.
00:47:00We're actually using a lot of his research today.
00:47:02Thanks, Ray.
00:47:09Well, we better head back.
00:47:12Will we go?
00:47:14Yeah.
00:47:14How about?
00:47:15A little memento?
00:47:18Ah.
00:47:19Come on.
00:47:21Okay.
00:47:21Okay.
00:47:22Okay.
00:47:22I really wanted this one to be true.
00:47:33Do you think my cynical mind's wrong?
00:47:36I don't think you're cynical.
00:47:40Thanks.
00:47:42Ray!
00:47:44I'm getting married!
00:47:48Congratulations!
00:47:50Are you already engaged?
00:47:51Yes, the wedding I was planning for tomorrow.
00:47:54It's for me.
00:47:55Mike set it all up!
00:47:57Good work, man.
00:47:58That could have really backfired.
00:47:59I am so excited.
00:48:01I mean, I'm in shock.
00:48:02But, Kennedy!
00:48:03You have to come.
00:48:05Oh, no, don't feel you have to.
00:48:07I don't want to intrude.
00:48:08You're not intruding?
00:48:10Oh, my God!
00:48:11Ray!
00:48:11You need a plus one for tomorrow.
00:48:13Help with the nerves.
00:48:15Remember what you promised?
00:48:16How could I forget?
00:48:18You're giving a speech?
00:48:19Well, something like that.
00:48:22And you have to come.
00:48:23No one likes to go to a wedding alone.
00:48:25Plus, I'll even save you a dance.
00:48:29Well, I would love to, but I don't have anything suitable to wear.
00:48:33Oh, I will sort you out.
00:48:36Okay, well, any chance to get out of these boots for a day?
00:48:39Oh, you two must be starving.
00:48:43Go and grab some food from the Caribbean night buffet before it all goes.
00:48:46Yeah, I've definitely worked up an appetite.
00:48:48Unless you've seen enough of me for one day.
00:48:51No, no, not at all.
00:48:52I just drop my bag off in my room, and I'll be right back.
00:48:56All right.
00:48:57You guys are going to be so excited.
00:49:01So happy for you guys.
00:49:33This is amazing.
00:49:43Well, I hope you don't mind, but I took the liberty of getting us some food.
00:49:47Do you like fried plantains?
00:49:49Never had it before.
00:49:50Try them.
00:49:51They're my favorite.
00:49:52All right.
00:49:53Give it a try.
00:49:59Delicious.
00:50:00You know, I live in a city with all kinds of restaurants, but the food here, better than anywhere else.
00:50:08Well, I think that's because they would say it was made with love.
00:50:13Looks like love's all over the island, then.
00:50:16Very well may be.
00:50:17So, I gotta ask, how long were you with your ex?
00:50:27Too long.
00:50:28Three years.
00:50:30What happened?
00:50:31I think he was always waiting for someone better to come along.
00:50:35And I just didn't see it at the time.
00:50:38You know, with our fast-paced lives, we often miss something amazing.
00:50:44Being out here in nature, it taught me patience.
00:50:49You know, waiting hours on end, quietly, for an animal to be in its natural habitat.
00:50:53All that time, for just one bleeding glimpse, it's worth it.
00:51:01Every time.
00:51:03Sweet.
00:51:05But I also focus too much on work.
00:51:08What was that?
00:51:09I work too much.
00:51:10Oh, you're a workaholic.
00:51:12Yes.
00:51:13That's why you don't have the time to enjoy yourself.
00:51:15I'm enjoying myself right now.
00:51:20What are they doing over there?
00:51:21That is the Lakame, traditional St. Lucian dance.
00:51:28You want to give it a try?
00:51:32Okay.
00:51:51What are they doing over there?
00:51:52What are they doing over there?
00:51:52What are they doing over there?
00:51:53What are they doing over there?
00:51:53What are they doing over there?
00:51:54What are they doing over there?
00:51:54What are they doing over there?
00:51:55What are they doing over there?
00:51:56What are they doing over there?
00:51:57What are they doing over there?
00:51:58What are they doing over there?
00:51:59What are they doing over there?
00:52:00What are they doing over there?
00:52:01What are they doing over there?
00:52:02What are they doing over there?
00:52:03What are they doing over there?
00:52:04What are they doing over there?
00:52:05What are they doing over there?
00:52:06What are they doing over there?
00:52:07What are they doing over there?
00:52:08What are they doing over there?
00:52:09What are they doing over there?
00:52:10What are they doing over there?
00:52:11What are they doing over there?
00:52:12She's all set.
00:52:41She looks stunning.
00:52:43I just still can't believe Mike got Anne to plan her own wedding and still be a surprise.
00:52:48Yeah, he figured that she wouldn't go all out if she knew it was for her.
00:52:52You know, she plans these beautiful experiences for everyone else.
00:52:55He just wanted her to have that for her own wedding.
00:52:57This way she couldn't find excuses to put anyone else first.
00:53:00She seems so excited.
00:53:07I'll see you after.
00:53:11All right.
00:53:12I don't know.
00:53:13I want to go.
00:53:15I don't know who I am.
00:53:17Oh, I don't know what I want.
00:53:20Oh, I don't know what I want.
00:53:22This is too cute.
00:53:25Oh, come on.
00:53:27Bye.
00:53:29Oh, come on.
00:53:32Abby?
00:54:02Mom and dad would be proud.
00:54:08I love you.
00:54:13Alright, get up there. You're gonna make me cry.
00:54:15Okay.
00:54:32And then the chase, this I know.
00:54:38Yeah, I'm going for the ride.
00:54:40And by myself I am alive.
00:54:42And I saw.
00:54:47Still I run toward the wind.
00:54:49And let the challenge drop in.
00:54:51I no pronuncio, husk boom and wine.
00:54:53You mean no pronuncio.
00:55:02I love you.
00:55:05I love you.
00:55:11Too many people go through life without love.
00:55:16But here we are.
00:55:18So, if you could raise a glass to Mr. and Mrs. Blessinger.
00:55:24I love you.
00:55:32When we were little, we used to sit around the house and sing songs.
00:55:40Ann made me promise that I would sing at her wedding one day.
00:55:44I agreed.
00:55:46Never thinking that day would happen, but here we are.
00:55:51So, to keep my word.
00:55:55And to let Ann know just how much she means to me.
00:56:02I saw you walking by today.
00:56:09With the sunset in your eyes.
00:56:13I couldn't find the strength to say.
00:56:17What was running through my mind.
00:56:22You couldn't help but notice me.
00:56:27Staring with that awkward smile.
00:56:30From the other side of Thompson Street.
00:56:35I felt love for a little while.
00:56:39Cause you look beautiful.
00:56:44In the sunset glow.
00:56:47In that sunset glow.
00:56:50You look more beautiful.
00:56:54Than anyone I know.
00:56:55Than anyone I know.
00:56:56Than anyone I know.
00:56:58Than anyone I know.
00:57:01When I asked you told me yes.
00:57:05To be in mine forevermore.
00:57:09All I can offer is my best.
00:57:14Through the good and bad, through rich and poor.
00:57:17You look more beautiful.
00:57:18You look more beautiful.
00:57:19Than anyone I know.
00:57:20You look more beautiful.
00:57:22Than anyone I know.
00:57:24You look beautiful.
00:57:25So beautiful.
00:57:26You look beautiful.
00:57:27You look beautiful.
00:57:32You look beautiful.
00:57:33So beautiful.
00:57:35It's beautiful
00:57:50There is a lot more to him than he first lets on
00:57:54He spends so much time talking to Max, I thought he forgot how to talk to girls, to be honest
00:57:59I'd never guess he could sing
00:58:01Ray is full of surprises
00:58:04I'll enjoy your night
00:58:14May I have this next dance?
00:58:18Mr. Miners, I can't understand why you don't want to be on camera
00:58:27Okay, when I was in college I was part of a conservation club
00:58:32It's not as nerdy as it sounds
00:58:34I'm not judging
00:58:35Actually, it's every bit as nerdy as it sounds
00:58:39We had this plan to save the rare piping plover nesting near Lake Ontario
00:58:44Of course you did
00:58:46Well, we needed money for the plan to work
00:58:48So when the others in the group found out I could sing
00:58:51They entered me into a singing competition last minute
00:58:54Well, if you sang just like you did there, I'm sure you saved a lot of birds
00:58:58Well, that was a problem
00:59:00I dislocated my shoulder that morning and I went to see the doctor right away
00:59:05And when I got to the chorus, the painkillers really kicked in
00:59:12Oh no
00:59:13Oh yeah
00:59:14Oh no
00:59:15Instead of singing the lady loves me, I sang the lady who loves me
00:59:21Oh
00:59:23Oh God
00:59:24No, it wasn't funny
00:59:25I was delirious
00:59:26It was funny
00:59:27You know, to make matters worse, there was a local news crew there
00:59:31And it aired on every newscast for what felt like a week
00:59:35I was so embarrassed
00:59:37You did it for a good cause
00:59:39Yeah, but I swore to never take center stage ever again
00:59:44You were really great
00:59:48Well, I guess I do have a few tricks that must leave
00:59:51Can't wait to see the next one
00:59:53Tell her around everybody
00:59:54Oh, hey Kennedy
00:59:56Kennedy
00:59:57Kennedy
00:59:58Let's go
00:59:59You gotta get over there
01:00:00Let's go
01:00:01Come on, girl
01:00:09You know the legend, right?
01:00:11The Paulson tribal parrot is as difficult to find as true love
01:00:16And only those who found true love will ever find the parrot
01:00:20There aren't as many couples around who have found true love
01:00:24So they can't find the bird
01:00:26How did you know it was the Paulson tribal parrot?
01:00:29It's beautiful fuchsia heart shape on its chest feathers
01:00:33But most of all, it's called
01:00:38Well, look at you
01:00:39You've got all the luck
01:00:43You bet
01:00:44Yeah, I've lost my boyfriend
01:00:46I have no story
01:00:48So I'm about to lose my job
01:00:50But
01:00:51I have a wedding bouquet
01:00:53With the beautiful colors of the elusive tribunk
01:00:57You're sure we can't use any of that video that you shot?
01:01:00Oh, I have a great travel segment
01:01:03Just not the type of thing the fake checkers plays
01:01:06Listen, I'm sorry I couldn't be more of help
01:01:12Look, I really appreciate everything you've done
01:01:16Oh, truly
01:01:19Without you, I wouldn't have learned the Lakame
01:01:22Well, that's a skill that no one should go without
01:01:25You still remember the steps?
01:01:28Oh
01:01:29I think we can manage
01:01:36Oh!
01:01:37Oh, no!
01:01:38Is that the first step?
01:01:39No!
01:01:40No way!
01:01:41Only three steps
01:01:42Only three steps
01:01:43One, two, three, four, five, five, two, two
01:01:47No!
01:01:49Oh!
01:01:50Oh, no!
01:01:51Is that the first step?
01:01:52No!
01:01:53No way!
01:01:55Only three steps
01:01:56Only three steps
01:01:58One, two, three, four, five, two, two
01:02:02One, two, three, four, five, five, five, five, six, five, six, six, seven, eight, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine, nine
01:02:32Kennedy!
01:03:01Bo!
01:03:03What are you doing here?
01:03:07I think we're making a mistake.
01:03:09What can I do to get you back?
01:03:11I don't believe you. What's the real reason you're here?
01:03:15I need your help.
01:03:17My story collapsed without you there to inspire me.
01:03:21Listen, I've gotta go.
01:03:25We can talk later.
01:03:29We can talk later.
01:03:33Is that...
01:03:35Bo Hawks. My former co-host.
01:03:37Your ex.
01:03:39That too. But that doesn't matter right now.
01:03:41Were you looking for me?
01:03:43I think we were looking in the wrong spot for the parrot.
01:03:47I looked at the photo again last night.
01:03:49The lanson trees were in the background.
01:03:51They only grow in soil from recent volcanic origins.
01:03:53So we have a new place to look.
01:03:55If you're up for another adventure.
01:03:57Let's go.
01:03:58What about Bo?
01:04:00He can wait.
01:04:02I got it.
01:04:04I got it.
01:04:06Well, the Paulson parrot likes water
01:04:29Wait, hold on
01:04:36I think this looks like where they took the video
01:04:44You're right, so this is the spot
01:04:50Okay, let's take a look
01:05:04This parrot really doesn't want to be found
01:05:11Well, I could have swore we're in the right location this time
01:05:15Maybe it's like love
01:05:17We always look for it in the wrong place
01:05:19Well, maybe you shouldn't look for that
01:05:22Just let it find you
01:05:25Bo made quite the effort to come down here and find you
01:05:41He was the last person I was expecting to see
01:05:44My head's been kind of spinning since he came down here for me
01:05:48But out here, the outside world just fades away
01:05:54You know, I've been so caught up in trying to find out if we're really onto something
01:06:01And even if it's not real
01:06:04It feels more real than anything I've felt in a long time
01:06:07Same
01:06:08Same
01:06:14That wasn't me
01:06:16Was that...
01:06:17I think so
01:06:18That was my point
01:06:19I think so
01:06:20I think so
01:06:21I think so
01:06:22I think so
01:06:23I think so
01:07:24Do you see anything?
01:07:31No.
01:07:33I was convinced we'd find it this time.
01:07:37There's still a chance.
01:07:41Is that optimism I hear?
01:07:45Yeah, you might be rubbing off on me after all.
01:07:47Well, if I was the parrot, this is where it hides from the world.
01:07:54That's the...
01:08:10The person tried to prepare it.
01:08:15It doesn't exist.
01:08:22Right up there.
01:08:24Yeah.
01:08:25I can't believe I'm getting this on camera.
01:08:35There's a pair.
01:08:57There's a pair.
01:08:58There's a pair.
01:08:59There's a pair.
01:09:00No!
01:09:17We're still rolling.
01:09:18Okay.
01:09:18Let me record.
01:09:25The discovery of the Polson tribrook parrot is only the beginning.
01:09:30With at least one pair, it's up to the conservationists and all of us to keep these birds safe and help them thrive.
01:09:39I can't wait to assess how many there are and develop a conservation strategy.
01:09:48This is really exciting.
01:09:53That's the GPS unit from the resort.
01:09:56Why is it in your bag?
01:09:57I don't know.
01:09:58I thought I gave them back into the tour.
01:10:04We should probably get back.
01:10:05Just in case anyone knows we're here.
01:10:23Hey!
01:10:24Any luck on your quest today?
01:10:25Actually, yes.
01:10:27But we found something else, too.
01:10:30Oh.
01:10:31Huh.
01:10:34Where was this?
01:10:35My equipment bag.
01:10:36Really?
01:10:37I wonder how it got there.
01:10:39Someone put it there, Jake.
01:10:42You think I put it there?
01:10:44Come on, Ray.
01:10:44Why would I do that?
01:10:46Make money for private tours?
01:10:48Come on.
01:10:49I'm not trying to be a career tour guide, all right?
01:10:50I'm an artist.
01:10:51So it's just a coincidence that this was on in my bag.
01:10:55You know what probably happened?
01:10:57I bet we put it in your bag for the jungle tour.
01:11:01Yeah, you've got some equipment that we didn't want you to lose, so we probably just forgot to get it from you at the end.
01:11:07Yeah, I guess that's what happened.
01:11:14Put it back where it belongs.
01:11:16Oh, yeah, of course.
01:11:19Sorry about that.
01:11:20So, are you sure you know where to go?
01:11:37Yeah, once we're settled then we can talk plans, okay?
01:11:40Okay, all right.
01:11:41But I want to get that before anyone else.
01:11:43Yeah.
01:11:43Yeah?
01:11:43Okay, great.
01:11:44Oh, I saw your missed call.
01:11:54Can we talk?
01:11:58Oh, welcome in.
01:12:01Will you let me apologize?
01:12:04I never should have taken you for granted.
01:12:06I mean, you were the best thing that's ever happened to me.
01:12:09And this time apart has been so good for me.
01:12:11Will you show me what life is like without you and I'm useless?
01:12:17This time has been good for me, too.
01:12:19And you were right.
01:12:21We were in a rut going nowhere.
01:12:24We're a team.
01:12:25A good team.
01:12:26We're not a team anymore.
01:12:30Mindy will take us back.
01:12:32We just have to show her how good it used to be by working on this story together.
01:12:36Why would I share a story that I've worked so hard on?
01:12:39Well, I might have some information that could help you.
01:12:42I saw that guy at the front desk talking to some dude about where the birds were.
01:12:45He promised to take them straight to them.
01:12:47Jake?
01:12:48So he was after the location.
01:12:49Did you get a name who he was talking to?
01:12:52Well, I might not be as useless as I look.
01:12:54But if I help you, do you promise to give it another shot?
01:12:58Well, you can start by writing a script for the story.
01:13:02And a front desk can fill you in.
01:13:03You think you can handle that?
01:13:05I'm on it.
01:13:06Where we were, we found there were certain traitors.
01:13:11How do you know the bird traitors?
01:13:12Bo got the name of the bird collector Jake was with.
01:13:14And from what he told me, Jake gets a fee for the parrot's location.
01:13:18And I doubt he's just after some pretty pictures.
01:13:20Bo, you think Jake would share the importance?
01:13:22Well, I hope not.
01:13:23But we can't risk them finding the tributes before we find them.
01:13:26Are you sure this is the right place?
01:13:50Yeah.
01:13:51I checked the coordinates like 20 times.
01:13:53Hey, you're not going to hurt the parrots, right?
01:13:58Of course not.
01:13:59My clients want the birds as healthy as possible for their exotic collections.
01:14:03You said you only needed two, right?
01:14:05You can't take them all.
01:14:06You said breeding, not trading, right?
01:14:09The breed, you have to trade, Jake.
01:14:12I'll only take a couple more than I said, but, well, business is business.
01:14:17Is it on your part?
01:14:18Yeah, whatever that means.
01:14:19Listen, I think I saw it on the list.
01:14:20I have an idea.
01:14:22Well, we'll get it.
01:14:23Okay, good.
01:14:23Where exactly?
01:14:24On this list.
01:14:25No, no.
01:14:26The sled's here.
01:14:27On this list.
01:14:29So in order to get up there, where do we go?
01:14:36Hey!
01:14:39Oh, hey.
01:14:40Kennedy, Ray, what?
01:14:41What?
01:14:42Hey, Jake.
01:14:43We're just recording a segment from my show, and I wanted to ask you a couple of questions.
01:14:50Did you know there have been reports of an illegal bird trader on the island?
01:14:54What's going on here?
01:14:56I'm with the Fake Checkers, a TV show which uncovers scams and corruption.
01:15:00We fabricated a story about the sighting of an extinct exotic parrot in order to capture
01:15:06bird traders in action.
01:15:08Fabricated story?
01:15:10What do you mean?
01:15:11Wait.
01:15:12Wait, you said you found the bird, right?
01:15:13So...
01:15:14Yeah, that was part of the scheme.
01:15:16I guess the real question here is, what are you two doing here?
01:15:20We're just a couple of ecotourists, yeah?
01:15:26So you two aren't trying to capture rare animals illegally?
01:15:30No, no.
01:15:31I would never do that.
01:15:32I wouldn't do that.
01:15:33Ray, I wouldn't...
01:15:34Hey, I'm just trying to help.
01:15:37Are you prepared to say that to camera, Patrick Wallace?
01:15:45I think we should go.
01:15:46Hey, just go.
01:15:46That's a good idea.
01:15:50Look, look, I'm not with this guy, all right?
01:15:52He's just a breeder.
01:15:53He's trying to help, all right?
01:15:54He...
01:15:54Listen, he contacted me through the website, all right?
01:15:57I...
01:15:57I thought this could be good.
01:16:00You know that's my job, Jake.
01:16:01You should have come to me.
01:16:03What were you thinking?
01:16:04Yeah, I tried to come to you, remember?
01:16:06Huh?
01:16:07And you didn't believe me.
01:16:11I just couldn't see how it could be a real sighting with a lack of evidence.
01:16:15And I never stopped having hope that patience would allow nature to show us the truth when
01:16:19it was ready.
01:16:20I think you should go, Jake.
01:16:26Yeah, you better go catch your friend, make sure he doesn't get lost, to miss his flight
01:16:29home.
01:16:32I'm sorry, Kennedy.
01:16:40I think it worked.
01:16:41I think that scared him pretty good.
01:16:42You know, being on the side of the camera is actually pretty fun.
01:16:45You make a good team.
01:16:48What do you say to a celebratory dinner tonight?
01:16:50You and me.
01:16:54Sure.
01:16:54Oh, no.
01:16:58Looks like Rosemary's gotten loose in the resort again.
01:17:02I think she has a thing for you.
01:17:05She just might.
01:17:07You should go make sure they don't get lost.
01:17:09Yeah.
01:17:09I thought we could both use some change.
01:17:34Thanks to Bo's help, we were able to officially protect the Polson tribe repair in the area and
01:17:45uncover the dangers these beautiful animals face when not carefully protected.
01:17:49This truly is a special story, proving a parrot came back from extinction.
01:17:55And with your efforts to support conservation work, just think how many other animals we could
01:18:00save.
01:18:01And with some faith and in the presence of true love, I now know miracles do happen.
01:18:07And that's Fake Checked.
01:18:11Thanks, Bo, for your help.
01:18:13It's pretty smart cozying up to the guy at the bar to get his name.
01:18:16Remind me of old times going undercover together.
01:18:21You know I'd do anything for you, right?
01:18:25And we can go at your own pace, build back what made the show great again.
01:18:30You really did make a difference in a lot of people's lives.
01:18:37You must be Ray.
01:18:47Uh, yeah.
01:18:49Yeah, Kenny, you told me about you.
01:18:52Well, thanks for being our guide and looking after her while I was away.
01:18:56I missed her so much.
01:18:58It's good to be back with her.
01:19:01So you guys are back together?
01:19:04Yeah, things are just better when we're together.
01:19:05Show just works.
01:19:07We work.
01:19:08Kennedy knows it.
01:19:10Hey, listen, I'd invite you to dinner, but, you know, we got a lot of catching up to do.
01:19:15Uh, yeah.
01:19:16Well, I hope the show goes the way you want it to.
01:19:20Do you want me to give those to her?
01:19:23Yeah, sure.
01:19:25Tell her thank you.
01:19:29Sure.
01:19:29Love.
01:19:49Love.
01:19:51Bye.
01:19:51So live with me here in this moment now.
01:20:02Can we live right here in this moment now?
01:20:21I just want to know why, Jake. You should have listened to Ray.
01:20:30Yeah, I know. I know. It just seemed like a sign.
01:20:33You know, I finally got my design work out there on the site,
01:20:35and the tourists were really loving the mystery,
01:20:37especially when the photo went viral.
01:20:40And then Ray took it all down.
01:20:42You know, things started to slow,
01:20:44and this guy said he could help the parrots with the breeding program,
01:20:46and if I helped him, then more parrots meant more business, and I'm...
01:20:49Look, I'm sorry. I thought it was a win-win, all right?
01:20:52I never intended to hurt Ray or the parrots.
01:20:55Yeah. Well, at least no harm was done.
01:20:58And the story should mean more business for the website.
01:21:02Well, you know, I'm donating 20% of all proceeds to the center, so...
01:21:07I'm sure Ray will be grateful for the support.
01:21:10He's got a lot of making up to do, but it's a great start.
01:21:14Really? Like this.
01:21:17Huh?
01:21:18Pretty cool.
01:21:19Yeah?
01:21:21Keep in touch, Jake.
01:21:22You got it.
01:21:25Safe travels.
01:21:26You're taking me back.
01:21:27You're taking me back.
01:21:30You're taking me back.
01:21:33When the world was smaller, and everything was ours.
01:21:38You're taking me back.
01:21:40You're taking me back.
01:21:42Please find attached my edited segment.
01:21:45I flew out with one story in mind, but it completely changed once I discovered an even greater one.
01:21:51And so did I.
01:21:53Please accept this email as my resignation for the Fake Checkers co-host job.
01:21:59I came to St. Lucia to prove to the world that what is gone is lost forever.
01:22:04But this island opened my heart to something completely unexpected.
01:22:09On my quest to find an elusive parrot, I learned more about myself and what I've been avoiding.
01:22:16I'd lost hope in taking risks and believing in unexpected miracles and the beauty in life all around us.
01:22:24Mindy Doll, I got some ideas I want to discuss.
01:22:27That new production runner, uh, Stacy?
01:22:30I think she's got real potential.
01:22:32I think she deserves a break.
01:22:35For me, this job has always been about uncovering scams to target people.
01:22:39After my dad's career was ruined by a faked photo.
01:22:43But this trip made me realize that's not what my father would have wanted me to focus on.
01:22:48Bye!
01:22:49Bye!
01:22:51Hey, how'd the honeymoon go?
01:22:53It was amazing.
01:22:55Relaxing, romantic.
01:22:59Are you watching Kennedy's report again?
01:23:02Yeah.
01:23:04She did a great job.
01:23:05You know, she really did.
01:23:09Mm-hmm.
01:23:10So, um, this was addressed to you on my desk when I went into work?
01:23:16Let me have it.
01:23:19Will you call me later?
01:23:22I will.
01:23:23Love you.
01:23:24Glad you're back.
01:23:25This story has led me on a new path.
01:23:26A path that will continue my dad's legacy in conservation.
01:23:30And in the memory of Dr. James Weber.
01:23:31This is Kennedy Weber.
01:23:32This is Kennedy Weber.
01:23:33reporting for the last time.
01:23:34For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:35For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:36For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:37For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:38For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:40For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:41And in the memory of Dr. James Weber.
01:23:42This is Kennedy Weber.
01:23:43Reporting for the last time.
01:23:44For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:46For the Fake Checkers.
01:23:50A path that will continue my dad's legacy in conservation.
01:23:55And in the memory of Dr. James Weber, this is Kennedy Weber, reporting for the last time
01:24:01for the Fake Checkers.
01:24:16It's so nice of the local committee to do this for dad.
01:24:19It's so unexpected.
01:24:20I just wish I had more than a week's notice for the ceremony.
01:24:23Well, the opening of a research center in dad's name was way overdue.
01:24:27Yeah, I would've invited Ray.
01:24:30Let's get him to watch me do my very first episode.
01:24:33You're on TV show!
01:24:35And Jake did a great job with the logo.
01:24:38I know.
01:24:39I was tired of debunking scams.
01:24:41Now I get to tell stories and inspire people and give them hope.
01:24:46Dad would be so proud.
01:24:48What did the organizer say?
01:24:50Well, someone brought dad's name to the attention of the local conservation advisory board
01:24:54when they were naming this new research center.
01:24:58Everyone was in agreement.
01:24:59Who was it?
01:25:01I don't know.
01:25:05You looked more beautiful than anyone I know, than anyone I know.
01:25:17Ray, you did all of this?
01:25:21How?
01:25:22Why?
01:25:23The opinions of those who respected and admired your father never changed.
01:25:28And I wanted you to know that.
01:25:29Um, hi.
01:25:31I'm Sienna, Kennedy's sister.
01:25:34Sienna, it is lovely to finally meet you.
01:25:37The pleasure is all mine.
01:25:44I can't believe you organized all of this for our dad.
01:25:47Well, to be perfectly honest with you, I really did it for you.
01:25:53Oh?
01:25:53Yeah, you know how I am with words.
01:25:57I didn't think that I would find the right ones in the right order to let you know that
01:26:03I'm in love with you.
01:26:04You had nothing to worry about.
01:26:18I know the center in St. Lucia has connections with the center here in New York.
01:26:23So you could come and work here?
01:26:25Near me?
01:26:26If you want.
01:26:28Then we'd always have St. Lucia.
01:26:34Well, we'll talk just a few more times.
01:26:37We'll talk to you guys later.
01:26:41We'll talk to you guys later.
01:26:47I'll watch this you guys later.
01:26:50Yeah!
01:26:53Well, there's so many more time.
01:26:57We'll talk to you guys later.
01:26:58We'll talk to you guys later.
01:26:59Hey!
01:27:00Bye.
01:27:01Bye.
01:27:02Bye.
