00:00Next, sir, we have an executive order on TikTok.

00:03From the first days of your administration,

00:05you've charged a team from your administration,

00:07led by Vice President Vance,

00:09with ensuring that we can preserve TikTok

00:12as a platform for the 170 million Americans who use it,

00:15while ensuring that their data is properly protected

00:18as required by law.

00:19With this executive order,

00:21you will be effectively bringing into effect

00:23the agreement that will save TikTok

00:26and ensure that it can operate safely and securely.

00:28So this is interesting because I had a very good talk

00:34with President Xi, a lot of respect for him.

00:36Hopefully, he has a lot of respect for me, too.

00:39And we talked about TikTok and other things,

00:42but we talked about TikTok, and he gave us the go-ahead.

00:45You know, it's run by American investors

00:47and American companies, great ones, great investors,

00:51the biggest, you know, get bigger, I don't imagine.

00:54We really couldn't have done this

00:55without the president actually ushering this deal

00:58over the finish line.

00:59There was some resistance on the Chinese side,

01:01but the fundamental thing that we wanted to accomplish

01:03is that we wanted to keep TikTok operating,

01:05but we also wanted to make sure

01:06that we protected Americans' data privacy

01:09as required by law,

01:10both because it's the right thing to do,

01:12but also because it's a legal requirement

01:13of the law that was passed last year by Congress.

01:15So we think that we were able to do that.

01:17Of course, we're going to keep on working at it,

01:19but this deal really does mean

01:21that Americans can use TikTok,

01:23but actually use it with more confidence

01:25than they had in the past

01:26because their data is going to be secure

01:27and it's not going to be used

01:29as a propaganda weapon against our fellow citizens.

01:31We're very excited about it.

01:33We appreciate the cooperation of everybody involved,

01:35and it's a big day.
