00:05With Islam, the people of Sudan are melted into one melting pot,
00:09and they live a dignified and just life under its state.
00:13Sudan's population is estimated at 49.4 million,
00:17according to the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, in 2024.
00:2396% of the population is Muslim with a small Christian community,
00:28and individuals following pagan religions.
00:32Sudanese society is made up of tribes of Arab, African, and Nubian origins,
00:37representing more than 500 ethnic groups.
00:40Arabs constitute the dominant ethnic group, compromising 70% of the population,
00:45in addition to other ethnic groups, including the Beja, Nuba, Fulani, Jaberti, Fur, Masalit, and others.
00:55The colonialists exploited this diversity and differences to ignite conflicts and civil wars,
01:03harnessing them to implement their plans,
01:06most notably the fragmentation of Sudan into small states,
01:10by playing on the theme of self-rule, the right to self-determination,
01:14and the rights of small ethnicities.
01:17The North was separated from the South, and now there is talk of separating Darfur.
01:22We are not here to elaborate on the components of Sudanese society,
01:27nor are we discussing the mechanism and stages of Sudan's fragmentation.
01:31Rather, what we are here to demonstrate is that Islam alone is capable of merging these diverse components
01:38into a single melting pot,
01:40and that the Khilafah Caliphate alone is capable of dealing with them from a position of care and subordination,
01:47and of achieving justice, equality, and a dignified life for them.
01:52The laws of Islam have united the diverse and even warring peoples and tribes,
01:58unified their word, and brought them together into a sophisticated ummah.
02:02They worship one Allah and face one Qibla,
02:05and the lowest of them seeks their protection,
02:08and one of them will sacrifice his blood for another after he had previously shed his own blood.
02:14Islam alone is the principle capable of uniting people in a single melting pot.
02:20It is Islam that fused Arabs, Copps, Berbers, Turks, Nubians, and others,
02:25and made them one ummah before the hand of colonialism reached out
02:30to revive these fanaticisms and conflicts in service of its schemes.
02:36Islam does not differentiate between people based on race, color, or sex.
02:40Rather, it focuses on the human being as a human being.
02:44In its view, people are equal, and the distinction between them is based on their deeds,
02:50not their appearance, race, or ethnicity.
02:53The criterion for distinction between them is piety
02:57and the extent of their commitment to, verses, commands, and prohibitions in their lives.
03:05As for the differences between people in terms of race, color, and sex,
03:11these are natural matters and are signs of Allah and indications of His power.
03:17They are not viewed negatively or preferentially.
03:21Allah Almighty says,
03:22O humanity, indeed, we created you from a male and a female and made you into peoples and tribes,
03:45so that you may get to know one another.
03:48Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you.
03:54Allah is truly all-knowing, all-aware.
03:56Al-Hujurat 13.
03:58On the authority of Jabir ibn Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him,
04:03who said, the Messenger of Allah ๏ทบ said,
04:06O people, your Lord is one and your Father is one.
04:33There is no superiority of an Arab over a non-Arab,
04:36nor of a non-Arab over an Arab,
04:38nor of a red person over a black person,
04:41nor a black person over a red person, except by piety.
04:45Have I conveyed the message?
04:46They said, the Messenger of Allah has conveyed the message.
04:49He said, let the witness convey it to the opposite.
04:53Islam has established a correct bond that connects human beings to others,
04:57the bond of faith from which emerges a system that addresses human problems throughout life
05:03and regulates the relationships of individuals within a single society.
05:08This bond is the bond of Islamic faith,
05:10not the bond of nationalism, ethnicity, tribalism, or pre-Islamic fanaticism.
05:15The Prophet ๏ทบ said about this bond,
05:18Da'uha fa'innaha muntina,
05:20Leave it, for it is something disgusting.
05:22Through this bond, Suhaib al-Rumi, Bilal al-Habashi, Salman al-Farisi,
05:27and Abu Bakr al-Harabi al-Qurashi became brothers.
05:32Through this bond, Islam united the Aus and Khazraj tribes,
05:37who had been at odds and held enmity and hatred for one another.
05:41They transformed into loving brothers.
05:44They became supporters of the religion
05:45and were instrumental in supporting the Prophet ๏ทบ
05:48and establishing the Islamic State.
05:50Allah Almighty says,
05:54Had you spent all the riches in the earth,
06:06you could not have united their hearts,
06:08but Allah has united them.
06:09Indeed, He is Almighty always.
06:12Al-Anfal 63
06:13These provisions, enshrined in Islam as legislation,
06:17were implemented by the Khilafah, Caliphate State.
06:21The Khilafah State does not have the distinction of minority and majority,
06:25as is practiced today.
06:27Islam considers the group governed by its system to be a human unit,
06:31regardless of sect or sex.
06:33The only conditions required for this are citizenship,
06:38i.e. residency,
06:39and loyalty to the state.
06:41It views all people solely as human beings
06:43and considers them its subject.
06:45As long as they hold citizenship,
06:48the internal policy of the Islamic State
06:50is to implement Islamic law
06:52on all those who hold citizenship,
06:55whether Muslims or non-Muslims.
06:57Everyone who holds citizenship
06:58is a subject of the Islamic State,
07:01whether Muslim or non-Muslim,
07:03and has the rights and obligations
07:05due to the state according to Sharia.
07:08This state is responsible for them,
07:10for their welfare protection
07:11and the protection of their property and honor,
07:14and for providing them with security,
07:16livelihood, prosperity, justice, and tranquility,
07:19without any distinction between Muslim and non-Muslims.
07:22All are equal before the state,
07:23like the teeth of a comb.
07:25Islam has provided several provisions
07:28for the people of covenant,
07:30including that they are not tempted
07:31to abandon their religion,
07:33nor are they forced to convert to Islam.
07:35Rather, they are left to their own devices.
07:39Whatever they believe, worship, and eat.
07:41Matters of marriage and divorce
07:43are decided among them according to their religion.
07:46They are not required to fulfill
07:48any of the obligations imposed on Muslims,
07:50such as jihad and zakah.
07:53They are not forced to fight,
07:54but it is permissible for any of them
07:57who wishes to fight in the Muslim army
07:58of their own free will.
08:01These dhimmis only pay the jizya,
08:04a sum of money taken from capable adult males,
08:07as Allah Almighty says,
08:09ุญูŽุชูŽู‘ู‰ ูŠูุนู’ุทููˆุง ุงู„ู’ุฌูุฒู’ูŠูŽุฉูŽ ุนูŽู†ู’ ูŠูŽุฏู
08:11until they pay the tax.
08:14ุงู„ุชูŽู‘ูˆู’ุจูŽุฉ 29
08:15The hand is a metaphor for power,
08:20and it is not taken from women and children.
08:24If a dhimmi becomes poor,
08:26the jizya is waived,
08:27and the state undertakes to provide for them
08:30from the public treasury.
08:32People of the dhimmi are treated well.
08:34They are treated equally,
08:35before the ruler and judge.
08:37When overseeing affairs,
08:39and when implementing transactions and punishments
08:42without any discrimination,
08:43they are subject to the provisions of Islam,
08:46as are Muslims.
08:47They are subjects of the Islamic State
08:49like other subjects.
08:50They have the right to protection,
08:52the right to a secure livelihood,
08:55the right to be treated kindly,
08:57and the right to be treated with kindness and leniency.
09:00They are entitled to the same fairness as Muslims,
09:03and the same fairness as Muslims.
09:06Justice is required of them,
09:08just as it is required of Muslims.
09:10Anyone who holds citizenship,
09:12and is qualified,
09:13whether male or female,
09:15Muslim or non-Muslim,
09:16may be appointed as a director of any department
09:19or administration,
09:21and may serve in it.
09:23People of the dhimmi may participate
09:25in the National Assembly
09:26to complain about the injustice of rulers,
09:31or the misapplication of Islamic rulings.
09:33If we look at the history of the Islamic State
09:38since its establishment
09:39by the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam,
09:41we see that non-Muslims lived with dignity
09:44and respect under the rule of Islam.
09:46They were viewed as subjects
09:47of subordination and protection,
09:50and there were no first-class
09:51or second-class subjects
09:52under the Islamic State.
09:54Diversity prevailed
09:55in the first Islamic State,
09:57established by the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam
09:59in Medina at the time of its inception.
10:01It included the Muhajirin and the Ansar,
10:05and its subjects included Arabs and non-Arabs,
10:07Muslims and non-Muslims,
10:09and then expanded to encompass
10:10the entire Arabian Peninsula
10:12during the lifetime of the Prophet Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam.
10:16Its expansion continued
10:17during the era of the rightly guided caliphs
10:19and those who came after them
10:21during the Umayyid, Abbasid, and Ottoman dynasties.
10:24This diversity increased
10:25as people entered Islam in mass
10:27from diverse tribes and peoples,
10:30and adherents of many religions
10:32unknown in the Arabian Peninsula
10:33submitted to its authority,
10:35despite the differences in race,
10:37color, language, culture, and religion.
10:39Among all these people,
10:41the prevailing relationship between them
10:43and with the state
10:44was one of harmony, agreement,
10:46and good treatment.
10:47Evidence of this,
10:49the Islamic State's benevolence
10:50toward dhimmis,
10:52is abundantly documented
10:53in history books,
10:55such as the story
10:56of Ibn Amr ibn al-As
10:58and the Kapt.
11:00As a result of his benevolence,
11:02they preferred to live there
11:03and sought refuge there.
11:05They even sided with it
11:06against their own people.
11:08During the Crusades,
11:09Eastern Christians
11:10sided with the Muslims
11:11and fought alongside them
11:13against the Crusaders,
11:14despite the Crusaders'
11:16attempt to win them over
11:17and incite them
11:19against the Islamic State.
11:20This led to the Crusaders
11:22losing one of the cards
11:23they had been counting on
11:25to defeat the Muslims.
11:27From this,
11:27it becomes clear
11:28that Islam alone
11:29is capable of uniting
11:30the people of Sudan,
11:32regardless of their ethnic
11:33and religious differences,
11:36into one melting pot,
11:37just as it did before.
11:40Dr. Salah Ibrahim Aysa
11:42says in his book,
11:44The Entry of Islam
11:45into Sudan
11:46and Its Impact
11:47on Correcting Beliefs,
11:49Sudan,
11:50known today
11:51for its geography,
11:52was not a unified political,
11:54cultural,
11:55or religious entity
11:56before the arrival of Muslims.
11:58Different customs,
11:59ethnicities,
11:59and beliefs
12:00were distributed throughout it.
12:01In the north,
12:02where the Nubians live,
12:03Orthodox Christianity
12:04was prevalent as a faith,
12:06and the Nubian language,
12:08with its various dialects,
12:10was the language
12:10of politics,
12:11culture,
12:11and communication.
12:13In the east,
12:14the Beja tribes,
12:15a Hematic tribe,
12:17lived with their own language,
12:18separate culture,
12:19and faith distinct
12:20from those of the north.
12:23If we head south,
12:24we find the Negro tribes
12:25with their distinctive features,
12:27their own language,
12:29and their pagan beliefs.
12:30The same is true in the west.
12:32The arrival of Muslims
12:33in Sudan
12:34brought about
12:34a tremendous upheaval
12:35in the identity
12:36of this region,
12:38altering its religious
12:39and cultural features.
12:41Islam became
12:41the dominant religion
12:42among most
12:44of the region's peoples.
12:45The language of the Quran
12:46became the common denominator
12:48among them,
12:49thus creating a unity
12:50among them
12:50on the religious,
12:52political,
12:52and social levels.
12:54After the Baqh Treaty
12:55between Muslims
12:56and Nubia
12:57in 652 AH,
12:59Muslims began to
13:00infiltrate Sudan
13:02in groups
13:02and individually,
13:04bringing with them
13:05Islam
13:05and the Arabic language,
13:07seeking pastors
13:08and trade.
13:09They intermingled
13:11with the country's
13:12indigenous population,
13:13and their impact
13:14was clearly evident
13:15in changing
13:16the region's character.
13:18Its people
13:19transitioned from
13:20Christianity
13:20or paganism
13:21to Islam,
13:22from corrupt beliefs
13:23to monotheism,
13:25and from non-Arabism
13:26to Arabic,
13:28thanks to the Muslims.
13:29It is clear that
13:30the Khilafah
13:31is the political system
13:32that guarantees them
13:33a dignified life,
13:34justice,
13:35and stability
13:35as subjects of the state
13:37without any discrimination
13:39or distinction.
