00:00Me and mom, we used to run around and do some real bad shit.
00:06They got hurt.
00:08Now they're coming after us.
00:09Sorry.
00:10I didn't ask for this.
00:11That's just how the cards were rolled out for me.
00:13It's not cards.
00:14You don't roll cards.
00:15It's dice.
00:16Dad, what is wrong with you?
00:18You're right.
00:19Let's go.
00:22I got a tunnel.
00:24What, what's going on?
00:25I need a weapon, man.
00:26All you got is goddamn nunchucks.
00:28Rise and shine.
00:29Uh...
00:31Pat an eyelash.
00:32Good morning.
00:34There are no hands on the clock.
00:36Why?
00:38Because they're not needed.
00:40What time is it?
00:42Uh, fuck.
00:43You know, I don't, I don't, I don't remember that part.
00:46Alright, let's just not nitpick over the passwords.
00:49This is Bob Ferguson.
00:51I was a part of the French 75.
00:56It's not felt like Tony Martins!
00:59So you don't accidentally detonate your charge.
01:03Don't stop.
01:04I want you to create a show.
01:06This is an announcement on a revolution.
01:10The message is clear.
01:12I'll be seeing you very soon.
01:13Not if I see you first.
01:14Viva la revolucion!
01:17It could hold a mirror up to who we are as a society.
01:20And I think that this film, like, is showing extremism on both ends.
01:26You're holding a mirror up to your convictions and what you believe in.
01:30And it has to do with radical revolutionaries on both sides.
01:35But at the end of the day, the movie is from the mind of Paul Thomas Anderson.
01:39So it almost got this, I don't know, Greek sort of philosophy in it.
01:44It's got characters that pop up out of nowhere.
01:47I don't know how he built this sort of matrix of drama into this film.
01:53But at the end of the day, it's this giant thrill ride, this action comedy of a father trying to get his daughter back.
01:59It's not a film that you can preach about.
02:04You have to just, you know, show people, you know, ultimately where we're at in today's society.
02:12So I hope people respond to it anyway.
02:15What are you going to do about this baby?
02:17You know what freedom is?
02:18What?
02:19No fear.
02:21Go!
02:29Fucking World War 3 out there!
02:40I need you, brother!
02:41Sensei!
02:42Sensei!
02:43Sensei, please!
02:44Courage, Bob.
02:45Courage.
02:46That's it?
02:48Courage.
02:50Yeah.
02:53Hey!
02:54Thank you, Sensei!
02:55Thank you, Sensei!
02:56Thank you!
02:57In a lot of ways, that is our freedom of speech.
03:00You know what I mean?
03:01We get to play these characters, talk about different subject matters, and it's our way of shining a light on certain issues, about humanity, about subject matters.
03:12And it's, you know, we're blessed to be able to do that, you know, in this country, because a lot of places aren't, don't have that freedom.
03:19So, you know, I'm always searching for a movie that doesn't necessarily have meaning, but it's thought provoking, and that's what I think the heart of this movie is, is how to find humanity in a world that is incredibly divided, you know?
03:36And he does it with such humor and grace and, you know, action, and it's an entertaining thrill ride.
03:43It's not having to take medicine.
03:45It's not something, it's not a film where you're, there's a specific sort of ideology that Paul is putting into it.
03:54It's saying this is who we are, this is the world we live in.
03:57Goddammit!
03:58VIVA LA REVOLUTION!
