00:08Arapaaya, fresh from appearing alongside Jackie Chan in a Hong Kong feature,
00:12is hoping to get national exposure for his films, made entirely in and around Aberdeen.
00:17I went along to meet him.
00:19Dubbed and dangerous is the latest release from 24-year-old filmmaker Arapaaya.
00:23Set exclusively in and around Aberdeen, it sets Arapaaya on a one-man war against the criminal underworld.
00:30He produces, directs and stars in all his own films.
00:33Knowing his reputation, I took along some friends of my own to meet him.
00:53Aye.
00:59Arapaaya, how long have you been doing this?
01:05Well, Chris, I've actually been training since I was four years old in the martial arts, yeah.
01:09And that involves weapons training, acrobatics, stunt reaction falls, and various other techniques.
01:15How did you get into it?
01:16Originally, it was my father who taught me from the age of four.
01:20So really, it's just my father teaching me over the years, me developing my own style from that,
01:26and developing new ideas, and just moving forward with different techniques for film-related and movie work.
01:33I've worked with Jackie Chan and Samuel Hung on film.
01:37How did that go by?
01:38That was a big surprise, actually.
01:40Suddenly, I get a phone call from the executive producer telling me to be at a certain place at a certain time.
01:46And I just said, hey, you know, I'm going for it.
01:48I'm going to meet these guys, childhood heroes, so to speak.
01:52And I met them, and I had a great time.
01:54His major breakthrough has been gaining a limited cinematic release,
01:58and if it's a success, a nationwide release could be in the offing.
